[Theme Progress] Spent weeks evolving this... If you've been dreaming for an Aurora flow in Playnite, look no further.

View showcase screenshots here: WinBox Image Gallery

I wanted to go way beyond a basic visual reskin. To get that truly authentic feel, I ended up combining standard layout code with web tools and a true 3D graphics engine. I’m really happy with how it’s coming together, so I wanted to share the progress to date!

Main Dash: You can scroll through the classic vertical tabs exactly how you remember them. My WinBox, My Games, Game Marketplace, and Movies & TV.

No more only having a single main view cover grid, filter presets are now dash tiles, so everything is cleanly organized and flows like a real console!

Nostalgic Backgrounds: I fully recreated the animated floating rings and the glossy floor stage that reacts dynamically as you navigate around.

You can also change the background, stage floor and coverflow style at any time from the theme preferences sub menu of the system settings menu.

Working Lockscreen: Just like the real console, there’s a sign in screen where you choose your profile. Selecting your account loads up your specific PFP and your personal avatar.

Real 3D Avatars & Coverflow:

Instead of just showing flat images, the theme uses a 3D engine utilising Three.js through a WebView2 virtual host mapping overlay to render your game boxes in a true 3D cover flow.

And the best part, there is zero performance tax.

I even built a custom "Edit Avatar" window where you can easily swap out 3D character models and props, spinning them around to see how they look before saving.

The Guide: Pressing the Guide button (Home button on controller) slides out the iconic four blade menu right over whatever you're doing.

Console Settings: I built a fully functional settings menu where you can check your hard drive space, test your network speed, switch which monitor you're using, or shut down your PC directly from the couch.

Seamless Web & Flash Integration: I integrated a Flash player directly into the theme, meaning you can launch classic SWF games (like old school arcades or vintage web games) natively right from the dash.

Couch Friendly Browsing: To make sure you never need to reach for a mouse, the theme reads your inputs and turns your controller thumbsticks into a virtual mouse whenever you have a web menu open.

Grand Scale 3D Solar System App: As a bonus i also integrated my own custom built 3D model solar system as an app into the 'My Apps' grid built entirely in javascript using Three.js.

I used 8K/4K planet and moon textures from NASA and high resolution NASA space station models to create a beautiful grand scale solar system in Three.js, complete with 3D ship models from various sources with full six degrees flight on controller makes it practically a triple AAA sim. Some ships feature first person view as well as third person, such as the X-Wing and Tie fighter, and all feature hyper speed boosts with animations except for the Tardis, the Tardis has its own custom worm hole animation.

The solar system also features a full navigation system so you don't get lost in space due to the scale, as you can travel all the way out of the solar system and outside of the milky way galaxy. You can also interact with planets if you are in close proximity to them by pressing X on controller, this will let you drive a NASA ground vehicle around the planet or moon's surface while your ship remains docked in orbit.

It's been a long month getting all of this to work and play nicely together, but seeing it come to life makes it so worth it. Made by a gamer, for gamers. Let me know what you think!

I hope to have a first test build release ready soon.

[Progress] The best theme is the one that makes you forget your in a launcher.

https://reddit.com/link/1vaw9a1/video/1l4ngpk5sdgh1/player

It's coming along. Here are some things that have been worked on and are currently being worked on.

  1. Animated background NXE rings using authentic console assets to create that nostalgic NXE experience.
  2. Latest Games tile now shows and updates the four square placeholders with your latest played games.
  3. Steam friends integrated into the friends list of the xbox guide overlay.
  4. Implemented avatars and props like Rick and Parvis Magna, by loading 3D .glb models using three.js and webview2. (work in progress, i plan to build an avatar creator that will allow you to switch between models)
  5. Cleaned up the dash and buttons for a more authentic NXE look.
  6. Fixed the cover grid styling math to more accurately capture original NXE grid tiling.

This project is a big undertaking, which is why progress is slow. That said, i hope to have the first public release build ready in a week or two. Stay tuned!

[Update Progress] The vision moving forward. Full NXE dashboard!

I'm currently working on transforming the entire main view into a full NXE dashboard, capturing it as authentically as possible.

A lot still needs to be done, but this is the vision.

[Theme Progress Update] Bringing the NXE / Xbox 360 Experience to Life (Slowly but Surely!)

Just wanted to share a quick update on my theme project. Progress is slow, but worth the wait, I'd rather take the extra time to get everything polished and feeling just right than rush a half baked release.

Here is a look at what I’ve been grinding on recently. I’ve managed to implement a fully working (for the most part) xbox 360 guide menu that actually opens and closes fluidly right when you press the home button on your controller. Getting it to behave naturally within the layout took some serious tinkering, but it adds so much to the authentic console feel.

I've been focusing on designing and structuring the grid to capture that classic xbox 360 NXE aesthetic.

Still ironing out a few minor bugs, but things are coming together nicely. Let me know what you think!

[Theme Progress] Working on bringing that authentic Xbox 360 feel to my Playnite theme!

Custom intro.

Xbox 360 style sign in screen and main screen profile container with gamerscore. (Currently working on making it a multi profile sign in screen to simulate a real 360 profile screen)

Xbox 360 style coloured buttons.

Custom Avatars inspired by xbox 360 avatar generation.

Fully transparent game grid, perfect for 2.5D and 3D box art sets.

Rotating earth at night main background. I built it in Three.js (3D javascript) using 8K NASA textures, captured a full 360 degree rotation and exported it into 1800 images at 4K resolution, which i then compiled into an mp4 creating a seamless loop.

Note: This theme is inspired by Xbox 360, it is not mean't to be an exact replica.

I do plan on releasing the theme soon, once i feel its at a finished state!

From "Unachievable" to Done: Finally unlocked Horizon Legend.

Honestly thought this was going to stay locked forever. After dealing with the persistent bugs and those ridiculous time walls that made "Horizon Legend" feel impossible to hit, it’s such a relief to finally see the notification pop.

No more waiting on patches or getting screwed by glitched progression requirements, it’s actually doable now.

If anyone else was stuck in the same boat as I was, it’s finally time to go back and clear it.

Good luck to everyone still grinding for it!

My Modified Modern UI theme! With High Res 2.5D Boxes!

To make this a reality i modified Modern UI theme's codebase by stripping and redoing the background media elements to make the covers sit super clean on the grid with perfect background transparency, then further modified the codebase to make cover view and grid view share the same 5K resolution custom background image so switching between both views is seamless.

Further more i modified the code to disable game descriptions from showing on the main screen for a nice minimal aesthetic.

For the artwork, i put together custom pre-set filter icons and used high resolution 2.5D box/cart sets found on LB forums, with some photoshop mockup templates for roms that aren't in the downloadable box sets.

I think it came together well.

The Wayans Brothers Had ONE Job… and Scary Movie 6 Still Killed Me (Just Not With Laughter)

As a die hard fan of the original Scary Movie trilogy, I went into this one fully prepared to be murdered by laughter.

Instead, I got 47 minutes of cinematic water torture.

The Wayans brothers had one job, bottle the chaotic, filthy, perfectly timed stupidity that made the originals legendary. They didn’t just drop the ball, they fumbled it, tripped over it, and then tried to pass it off as comedy.

Zero spark. Zero timing. Just a painful parade of jokes that died louder than the victims in the movie. I officially tapped out at the 47 minute mark.

Rest in peace to my expectations. They didn’t survive the opening credits.

Anyone else actually make it through this thing, or am I the smart one who escaped early?

SKY broadband having issues right now??

So i have 1GBPS fibre broadband and my router has gone down twice in the last few hours. Something that has never happened before.

Sky keeps popping up in my browser tab saying 'looks like there is a problem between your phone line and the router' yet nothing is a miss.

I've rebooted the whole system (the router and the BT open reach phone line box on the wall) and it fixes it, but only for a short while until it decides to go back down again.

Downdetector also shows that users are indicating problems at SKY at the moment.

Anyone else having these issues right now?

My line up so far... Thoughts?

Packed Barcola in an SBC pick.

Packed Le Paul in a objective reward pack.

Packed Orkun Kökçü in a reward pack, sold him for 300k and bought Raphina.

If anyone has any idea for improvements feel free to chime in.

That’s it for me. I am officially hanging up the controller, this is the last year I am ever touching ultimate team.

I’ve finally hit the wall where I realized there is absolutely zero point in grinding menus, doing evolutions, or trying to build a fun, unique squad. What are we even grinding for? so we can load into a division 7 rivals match and get matched up against someone who has Prime R9, Ronaldinho, and TOTY Mbappe?

You aren't playing against another person's football IQ anymore, you are strictly playing against their wallet, or whatever third party coin seller they used to buy a 15 million coin team. It is a completely unplayable P2W casino disguised as a sports simulator.

Even when you try to play actual football, the heavy servers just dictate the match. My 91 rated defenders act like literal holograms that attackers just walk through, and every tackle I make miraculously bounces right back to their striker. You get punished for trying to manually defend, while their AI auto blocks every shot and plays the game for them.

The entire mode is just a toxic hamster wheel designed to frustrate you into swiping your credit card to catch up. I’m tired of being a punching bag for whales and smurfs. Good luck to anyone choosing to stay on the grind, but I’m officially breaking the cycle. I’m out.

I hopped into CarXStreet hoping for some real street racing vibes, you know, proper sprints, grip battles, highway pulls with actual competition. But every time I join a multiplayer session it's the exact same scene.

Dozens of cars all bunched up doing endless back and forth runs on the same stretch of highway. Floor it, hit top speed, turn around, and do it again. Maybe someone crashes for a quick laugh, then right back to the loop like it's on autopilot.

Where did the actual racing go? The club events, the full map runs, the start to finish stuff? It feels like most players just treat the game like one big rolling car meet. Everyone's tuned their CC6 or R35 to 500 km/h and that's all they want to do, cruise the same road over and over.

Don't get me wrong, the game still looks sick and smashing those high speeds feels awesome at first. But after a while it gets old fast. No real stakes, no variety, just the same straight line forever.

Even when you try to start an actual race, 99% of the lobby just ignores it and goes back to free roam. Multiplayer lobbies feel dead for anything except drifting in the usual spots or these endless highway parades.

Am I the only one feeling this? Or has the game just turned into free roam simulator for most people? Anyone found lobbies where folks actually race instead of driving in circles?
