Flopie, the final pal brat. You would think that Flopie's partner skills would be helpful in picking up all the loots for you (and in some cases, like the Nightstar Sand during the daytime, it is), it quickly becomes apparent that she picks up everything. This leads to situations where you're overencumbered in the hundreds, if not thousands of pounds of rocks and sticks in your inventory. 1.0 made sure you cannot disable this feature, so good luck bringing Flopie around if you're a Flopie fan.

Blazamut is a cool looking pal that was known to be farmed for the famous Legendary Assault Rifle. Maybe you could use Blazamut for mining or combat, but then its Ryu variant came in a few month later and basically replace the base form.

Icelyn is an ice pal that seem to have little fanfare in both the Terraria update and the 1.0 update. This witch could easily serve as your Cooling Waifu if the frost moth isn't your type.

Sekhmet, everyone's favorite catgirl that out catgirl'd Katress and Nyafia. I always find it funny that she was revealed last year in the Palfarm trailer, with almost zero fanfare. Then a month or two before 1.0 got release, she got heavily promoted, and becomes a fan favorite since then. A decent combative pal, and her Alpha version is practically meta in Bases. Totally not a bug or anything.

Venusa felt like she got the short end of the stick. Her reveal was well received, she has her own comic, and it seem like she might be more popular than Leafan. Everything seem to be going up for Venusa. And then 1.0 release happen. Placing her in the World Tree as her only spawning spot, and in the toxic gas area no less, made everyone forget she existed. This guarantee that new players will not come across her until they got lucky with breeding, or play many hours until they get to the World Tree.

Her so-so stats, in both combat and base working, is hard to justified her placement there when you will come across many other pals with better stats. If you do build her up, Venusa is a decent Blind Pal if you partner her up with Roujay. Sadly, that would mean she would most likely be use in Hard version of the Tower fight. Not only that, there are many pals that are Dark type, thus being immune to Blind.

For most people, their favorite new pals in the 1.0 update might have been Sekhmet or Dupin for many obvious reason. However, for me, after playing for an entire week worth of content made me appreciate a different pal, Majex. A mid-tier pal with average stats and work suitability, something about this pal caught my attention. Maybe its her partner skill's, Phantasmal Arcana, that let me plow through waves of enemies, dealing a large amount of damage. Or maybe its her dual role as Fire and Dark type that allows me to switch either damage type style at any given situation. Or maybe its her "heroic pose", which seem to go hand to hand with her valley girl-like posture in her animation. Or maybe its her captivating voice she make. Regardless, Majex is my favorite pal in the 1.0 update, and possibly 2nd favorite pal overall (Wixen being first).
