LMDH update is a great step in the right direction

As I wrote in my previous post about a week ago, I bought this game and was primarily interested in recreating the IMSA weathertech schedule but amongst other issues I mentioned that the lmdh/gtp cars that were supposed to be a highlight of this game (considering one is quite literally the cover car and the game is not shy of using its IMSA licensed branding) were quite difficult and inconsistent to drive especially on colder tires.
Anyways, I just got on and had the chance to try the cadillac lmdh and it is a day and night difference, at least for me. I am now able to get consistent laps in without having snap oversteer at low speeds that turns into super stability immedately after. The lmdh do not only feel driveable now but dare I say enjoyable. This is a wonderful step in the right direction and I truly hope the devs continue to put in the effort to improve the cars across all classes and most importantly the optimization of this game's framerate etc. Also, I hope the sound issues on the M3 GTR get addressed sometime soon, it is a small issue but it saying it is a v8 but having the sound of an I6 as a placeholder is a bit bothersome to me. Same thing for the aston martin valkyrae, it is meant to be a roaring v8 but sounds like a V6 that was pitched up a tad bit.
Looking forward to seeing the game grow and progress! wonderful update.

Why do I get a penalty in time and points if I got rammed off track in ranked?

Was in a GT3 PRO race on ranked earlier today and was holding 4th place and fighting for 3rd when the porsche behind me decided braking and turning was optional and smacked me right into the wall on the first turn of kyalami. I recieved a track limit penalty to give back 2 seconds as soon as i finally made it back on track on top of heavy damage. I suppose karma worked because I managed to catch him back (supposedly because of his inconsistently aggressive driving style which I assume made him spin) and finished back in 4th with no chance for 3rd. Question is though, why is it that sometimes a person can get an awfully obvious corner cut and no penalty and in other times get like a whopping 5 second penalty for the slightest slip-up and why is it that when its wuite obvious you were wrecked into (or for the sake of the game's programming you spun) do you get a penalty for losing a massive amount of time anyways? And how is it fair that I earned much less points for the race than I should have because of the "heavy damage" that I suppose the code thinks is both driver's fault for contact.
On top of that in a mx5 spec race earlier today i cut a bit on the very first corner because i was flying too fast and my outer wheels ended up on the kerb for a sec too and I somehow recieved a 120 sec penalty? im so confused.
In other words, can someone explain the penalty system and track limits in relation to ranked points.

How "bad" is it to drive with the racing line?

I am quite competetive when it comes to racing games though my sim racing was only limited to RBR, Dirt Rally 2.0, and EA WRC. Essentially just rslly racing for years. Project motor racing and ACC are the first proper track racing games and I am genuinely REALLY enjoying the online in this game. For whatever reason every online race in ranked I had in project motor racing had good battles and pretty damn clean racing as opposed to public lobbies in ACC. Anyways, I drive with the racing line on since I am quite unfamiliar with the tracks but as time went on I seem to deviate from the racing line at times (and find better overall lap times). However, on other tracks the racing lines seem to give the most optimal lines (not the braking points though, many seem too early on unnecessary). Anyways I heard the racing line is a bad idea from different sim racing sources so I dont know if continuing to use it is a good idea or not. Any suggestions on whether I should use it or not or just continue using it mostly as a "oh its turning red so a turn is coming up" type of feature.
Any and all suggestions greatly welcomed.
TL;DR- Is the racing line a good or bad thing, optimal or is it faster to take completely different lines in different places?

Unlicensed licensed tracks

I understand track licensing is a long and expensive process but in game we currently have some wonderful tracks like Monz...I mean Brianza that resemble their real life counterparts. Out of curiosity, if going through this way of naming helps the devs avoid having to pay licensing etc why are we not getting renamed countrrparts for laguna seca and other popular tracks? I think it would really liven the game up to add more track choice, especially those that can finally let you run a full IMSA weathertech series season.

Are the "downloadable content" setups also good for controller or just wheel?

I tried downloading setups for the gt3 cars etc and can't figure out if I like them better than the stock setups on some cars like the Aston or huracan but on other cars like the C8R they make the car feel more balanced. From my understanding these tunes are obviously created for wheel users but im wondering (since im new to project motor racing) whether the tunes that are intended for wheel users are also applicable to controller users or not quite? I know the car behaves differently but im wondering if they will also fit/make the car feel better for the way the controller behaves as opposed to the wheel?

How does ranked work?

Won multiple miata races against 3 people on occasion and 7 people on occasion in division 3. I qualified first in both of these and finished first too but somehow my division rating went from 68 to 63? I did not incur penalties apart from one instance (the other few incidents were warnings) and did not have any contact during the race? How does the point calculation work and does the game not show you the ranked points gained at the end of a race or am I missing something?
I genuinely don't understand ranked and wish the game had a more transparent way to explain to us how to gain/lose points.

First week impressions

Very reluctantly picked up a copy after all the negative things I heard and I must say I am very pleasently surprised. Is it a perfect game? absolutely not BUT it is not a bad game AT ALL. Matter of fact, having read all the negative reviews and experienced it on my PS5, I must say the reviews were far too harsh (possibly cause people had bad impressions from the launch and not the 2.0 patch).

The Highs: spec miata feels like a blast to drive, the car list is fantastic for a motorsport fan, multiclass racing is an option, the game has soul put into it and you can tell the devs are really trying, the track list is quite nice and campaign is pretty alright for a sim racer (coming from ACC), the game is much more controller friendly than you think, the ability to have mods on console is crazy good and has crazy potential.

The Lows: Biggest low is the optimization for console. Not only is the grid small (16 cars) but running a full mixed lmdh/gt3 grid at daytona during daytime makes your frames VERY choppy on a ps5, so much so that I dont want to imagine doing that in the rain. As someone who wanted to sim-race the IMSA weathertech series, this was a big dissapointment. The graphics are quite...meh BUT if the game ran a perfect 60 at all times I honestly don't think this would be a big point of complaint at all. A lot of random places where the car decides to spin for no reason (last turn at monza, long turn in last sector of sebring, the elevation change at lime rock), lmdh/gtp handling is quite weird and I genuinely don't know if its just me because I have not raced them in other games but it feels like the car is either super planted or super loose regardless of tire temperature, the menus (especially online) tend to bug out to a point where I can't press "return" and have to turn off the game and restart.

In summary: you should ABSOLUTELY give this game a shot. If the devs optimize the game to run much better, which I would like to believe they will, then this will be an instant console hit game. The optimization should be the priority, followed by the random physics slip-ups. Apart from that I can understand why PC players may not be interested since other, and subjectively better, alternatives exist BUT for consoles, this game is a true gem! Although I will likely rarely return to it due to the optimization issues making it frustrating in the mixed grid racing that I so looked forward to, I sincerely hope to be able to see it evolve and grow into a wonderful game. With some optimization and bugs cleaned up this has great potential!

How does ranked work?

Played career for an hour or two and decided to give online a shot. I did the license test and got a division number and then a number (seemingly out of 100). What do these mean? and whatre the timers on the events in the ranked tab? are these how much is remaining in the qualifying session which is why I cant join or are these timers till the event start? Im coming from ACC so all this is a bit new to me.

PS5 controller users, adaptive triggers on or off?

For all the ps5 controller users in the subreddit, do you guys run adaptive triggers (cannot be disabled in the in-game settings for whatever reason), lower their strength, or fully disable them in system settings in order to run the best and most consistent times?

Whatre the best PS5 controller settings?

Hey everyone, im not on the discord (as i dont have discord) and truly love the game but the default ps5 controls are kinda wacky (as they are in every other sim racing game) and so im wondering if anyone has really good controller settings they can recommend :)
Thank you all very much in advance!

I dont know if its just me but the gtp/lmdh used to go from electric power to gasoline when exiting the pit lane and they dont seem to do so anymore. I havent played in about two weeks so I don't know if this has been patched but I am wondering why its gone and when it will be back as it was a super neat feature that made the game that much more immersive.

The rennsport subreddit is quite dead and I do enjoy PMR quite a bit but I do wish for a bit better visuals, consistent performance, and better sounds, and most importantly slightly better controller compatability. Wondering if any of the fellas here who have PMR (and preferably enjoyed it on controller) could recommend rennsport in addition to pmr to sorta mix things up or whether rennsport is a bigger dumpster fire?

Finally got access to online racing (console subscription service moment) and was excited to hop on. I do not have time for leagues but I do enjoy racing so I was hoping for at least some good races in public lobbies.... I ran 5 races and was absolutely demolished either in turn 1 or just bumped into by someone who decided that turning and braking are both optional. Only question I have is why bother paying $ for a game thats very obviously a GT3 racing sim to just play bumper cars? I understand if someone spins, brakes late, or turns too late but the behavior I am seeing is deliberate which is why it is so frustrating.
Why is it this way :/ Any way to get clean races without joining leagues and racing on a schedule?

I enjoy ACC and think im quite "okay" at it. I was wanting to try out multiplayer but having to pay for the online services (console moment) sorta makes me reluctant. Is it good fun and worth it or not quite?

I was playing ball again today and noticed the ein skin sounded a bit different in match (I play on random skins so I usually get it often in rotation). I went to the practice range and ta-da! it now has the same sound effect for getting elim as the other cowboy bebop collab skins! Its nice to see a small fix/update to this skin to make it feel more like part of the collab. Was always wondering why the sound effects for it werent originally included especially when mei, the free skin from the avatar event, had sound effects.

Whilst I appreciate the GT500 dlc and think its a wonderful addition to the game, I do feel that PMR should alternate between a big free content drop and big dlc drop. Since they would most likely want to reserve more special classes (like the GT500) for dlc, I feel that TCR cars like the elantara N or cupra leon etc would fit right in with their whole "imsa licensed" image. Plus this would be a neat competetive fwd addition to the game that would not feel so out of place or unique that it'd have to be exclusive to dlc. Furthermore, I think more licensed tracks (especially street circuits if thats somehow doable) would help the game a bunch.
Would love to hear if you guys think TCR would be an adequate next addition to the game or if you think other classes of cars should have priority.
EDIT: Yes, I agree that optimization, rolling starts, bug fixes, and more cars on the grid for offline are first priority. I was more so talking just content wise.

I started playing last week on controller and am slowly but surely getting better. I can now manage to run consistent 1:32s around zolder in the 991 gt3R (the only car I got for the career mode). I got this time without guides etc, just sorta playing through the career mode and trying different approaches to the turns during qualifying and practice. I know 1:32 is quite slow but is it enough to enjoy online or is it too early and will I get smoked? I intend to drive clean regardless so it feels as immersive and enjoyable as possible.

Hello everyone, I have a ps5 and play on controller as the title suggests. I only play single player/offline and I have played and finished GT7 and am growing tired of ACC but both of these have been splendid and I will definitely return to them here and there. However, as an IMSA/endursnce fan, I am craving a game that has the modern gt3/gtd and gtp cars etc. I was looking at rennsport and PMR and honestly can't help decide between the two. Can anyone suggest which, if any, I should look at picking up and how in general rennsport feels on controller and plays in single player mode?
Thank you all in advance, please share any and all thoughts you have on the game so far/what will come next :)
