To honor the 163rd anniversary of Gettysburg, here is my civil war collection
- Burnside 5th model cavalry carbine, based on serial number served with D company of 2nd Illinois cavalry, 1864-65
- Model 1861 rifle musket, savage contract, made in 1863
- Austrian Lorenz 1st pattern, bored out to .577 caliber. This one was found in a barn in Tallahassee, FL.
- Prussian model 1839/55, .69 caliber. Imported by the union in 1861 or 62
- LG&Y model 1863 rifle musket, made in 1864.
- German made model 1840 cavalry saber, union used, grip rewrapped.
- Unmarked foreign import model 1840 cavalry saber. Unmarked swords were theorized to have been made on contract for the confederacy, and the maker’s mark was omitted to avoid trouble with the US
