Hand sewn dress

I finished my first hand-sewn garment (first that wasn’t “just” a shirt) yesterday! I used tutorials and books by cal patch and Louisa Owen Sonstroem for the construction and my stash for materials.

Did I just notice how much the pocket looks like a box of McD’s fries? Yes I did. Do I think it’s adorable and a testament to how well the primary colors go together? Also yes 😅

Cat on backpack 😊

Ok not quite a quilt, but I started a new applique project, customizing my new Carhartt backpack and of course Ponyo climbed right on

Cal Patch-inspired hand-sewn boxy top

Thanks to Cal Patch’s boxy top workshop on The Quilty Nook, her tutorials on CreativeBug, Louisa Owen Sonstroem’s books, and an invigorating EPP workshop with my local Craftcycle group, I have a new favorite piece of completely hand-stitched clothing!

This one is made from a thrifted bedsheet and pieces from my stash, along with some thrifted bias tape. All inner seams are French seams, and it’s holding together beautifully. I have no doubt that it will survive laundry day ☺️
