An Update on a Godot Vehicle Simulator

For the past year, I have undertook the process of making an open-source vehicle simulator in the Godot game engine. I have always enjoyed racing and wanted to know what it takes to simulate such events. Although, I came through with incredibly minimal physics knowledge, having to learn much along my way, I want to present a progress video series I have been posting.

An Update on my Vehicle Simulator in Godot

Hello everyone! It has been a long time since I have last posted about my vehicle simulator. I have been hard at work, trying to solve major bugs that have been limiting my simulator.

I have caved in and listened to the critique on bad car models to use some free ones. These are purely for testing, eventually custom made models will be made.

If I recall correctly, I have made major changes such as updating to a Brush Tire Model, making 3 cars, although one has been scrapped, attempting to solving major engine issues that cause every car to struggle out of a certain gear, car creation issues hindering development, suspension issues, and much more.

Much has been delayed or improperly implemented due to the following bugs. As soon as I solve them, I will be onto making exponential improvements over the course of 2026-2027.

I hope I will be able to release this as a highly custom and easy to use vehicle simulator where you can make all the cars you can dream.

While I do so, enjoy a recent clip of a E30 I have been modeling.

Testing Unready Track for my Godot Vehicle Simulator

Unhappy with my old track, having feedback from the community with art being bad, and being undermined due to bad art, I have been experimenting with track ideas and this seems to be a rough sketch of what is to come. Current issues at the moment seem to be the track is too small, curvy, bumpy, and "unrealistic".

I am very new to modeling so I am still learning!

Much of the time spent on this project was for the underlying physics.

This project is completely open source for anyone to use and work on.

Making a Vehicle Simulator in the Godot 4.6 Engine

Some footage of the simulator before I fall into the void.

Hello everyone, may be a little off topic but I wanted to show you what I have been doing in the past 8 months. I come from knowing basic highschool physics but have always loved motorsports and vehicles in general. So, I have spent the past year building one from scratch attempting to become the best there is. This vehicle simulator is still in it's early stages although I plan on coming out of pre-release soon. It's full feature set can be found in the GitHub link below and some progress posts can be found in the YouTube channel linked.

Unrealistic models are used due to me running a 14 year old computer. The underlying physics is not as bad as the models do not worry xD.

Making a vehicle simulator in Godot!

Completely open source vehicle simulator I have been working on in the past year. Based in the Godot 4.6 engine, It aims to be the golden standard in vehicle simulation.

The project is on GitHub: https://github.com/kakoiihito

All features can be found in the github page.
