what is your guys commute to school where your going for nursing?

For me its 45 minutes away.

Dad was less then happy about it.

It honestly made me consider if i should've just applied to the BSN in may area or the ABSN where the commute wouldn't be as bad.

It just the cost of it though jesus.

At what point did you guys give up and accept you were going to be alone and why ?

I'm not saying this is something im going to do but i realize im getting up there in age not like im super old at all like im in my mid 20s but its comes a point where i was like yeah i don't turn things around imma just have to accept things for how they are and get used to being alone.

I mean getting new friends is hard in your mid 20s I've never used dating apps but i cant imagine i would get any matches at all im an average dude honestly probably below average if im being hones so i know for me it wouldn't be an option.

I guess for the guys that went through that whats your story and how do you think you got to this point?

PS drunk posting this listening to idiots play mlb on discord these guys are horrible lol

If you have to chose would you do the LPN should i take more classes so i could get started on a BSN.

Okay, so recently I applied to my local community college for an ASN program. I think I have a good shot at getting in since I have really good grades and a decent TEAS score, but it’s based on a lottery system, so you never know how that can go.

Here’s hoping I get into the ASN program, though.

I also put the LPN program down as an option. I’m wondering if, in my position, you would do the LPN first and then bridge to the ASN or BSN later.

For reference, I already have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a lot of the required credits completed. If I don’t get into the ASN program, I could do the LPN and then bridge, but the issue is that I’m paying out of pocket for everything.

It honestly wouldn’t make much sense to pay around $8k for the LPN and then another $12k for the ASN when I could just do the ASN and get it over with.

On the other hand, with the LPN route, I could at least work while I’m in school and potentially have a hospital help pay for tuition.

I’m wondering what your guys’ thoughts are on this.

How do you guys cold approach or i guess how did you guys build up social skills?

I’m a young guy, but I look much younger than my age, and I’m about 5'8", built like Steve Rogers before he got the super-soldier serum.

Can’t say I’ve had much luck with women. Then again, people say I don’t put myself out there. I’ve never really had much value anyway least thats how i always felt people have always told me, and I’m going through a career transition right now.

When I was working, honestly, I could count the number of people who expressed interest in me on one hand, really. Maybe it’s because I didn’t notice, or maybe I’m just chopped or just my body language everyone does say it gives a depressed vibe or just extremely unconfident.

But people would tell me it was because I didn’t put myself out there, although a lot of the dudes around me also said I was chopped, so I’ll take their word for it.

Anyway, I don’t know. I was at a Crumbl Cookies talking to the girl there, and we were just being friendly and casual. Honestly, it was one of those awkward moments where my debit card didn’t work or whatever because my bank thought Crumbl Cookies was a scam, so I just cracked some jokes about it. Man, was that awkward. Like, dang, you make me look broke in a moment like that. Then again, I look like a nerd who mains Kirby in Smash Bros right now, so yeah, I’m getting a haircut tomorrow.

Anyway, I thought she was cute, so I figured I’d shoot my shot. The thing is, I have no idea how to talk to women at all, let alone people I’m not comfortable with, and my brain kind of went blank.

I awkwardly asked how old she was, which is something I’ve always asked women who’ve approached me in the past. Pretty sure it was an awkward thing to do, but she said she was 18, and I was like, “Aaah, yeah, no,” and basically did the walk of shame.

She probably wasn’t interested anyway. We both kind of acknowledged the awkwardness, smiled, and I left.

But I guess my question is: how did you guys improve on things? And honestly, man, do you guys ask women their ages obviously if you are unsure or is it something you guys always do?

Honestly, I just do it by instinct. I’ll never forget when I was at a bar with a group of guys drinking, and one of the guys got approached by a girl. One of her friends pretty much exposed her real age, and we had to tell the dude so wouldn't catch a case never forgot the look on his face when we told him dude was pissed off.

I have a sibling who has a nursing degree. They graduated last year, got their license and everything, but she still has not been able to get a job.

In her defense, one of our parents is not well and honestly needs constant care and supervision. That has pretty much been the main reason she has not gotten anything yet because she does not want to leave our sick parent alone, and honestly I do not blame her.

I was working and my father was helping too until I got laid off sadly, so she became the main person staying home, helping with medications, monitoring, and other caregiving responsibilities.

Well, she has been out of school for a year now, and besides her clinicals and maybe some babysitting, she has no actual work experience whatsoever. A lot of the jobs I looked at online, just to see what the applications are like, want her to list supervisors and prior work experience. I was honestly wondering how she is supposed to get experience unless someone gives her a chance.

One parent is really starting to push her to get something, but it is a rough market and her lack of job experience seems like the biggest setback right now.

What should she realistically apply for? Do hospitals allow RNs to apply for PCT or LPN-type roles if they already have the RN degree? I was thinking maybe a nursing home, rehab facility, or something similar to at least get experience first.

The issue is that she is being very picky and mainly wants outpatient, but I honestly told her the reality of the situation. She keeps saying “something will come my way,” and I was just looking at her like, what are you talking about? Like market is horrible even for healthcare and wont get anything unless you put yourself out there.

Any advice would honestly help.

I took the TEAS the other day and got a 70 on my first try. I plan on taking it again sometime over the summer or fall, but I was wondering what I should do in my situation.

For reference, I already have a prior bachelor’s degree and have completed many of the credits needed for the BSN program at my local university, where I originally earned my degree. However, I would still need to take additional science courses based on how my credits transferred. These include APHY 2, microbiology, and chemistry, since my chemistry credit is considered too old. Ironically, they don’t require chemistry for the ABSN program.

Once I complete the science courses, I’ll be able to apply for the BSN program at my local university. It has direct entry, and the cost isn’t much different from going to a community college. I could even take nursing classes during the summer, and I would start in the spring next year.

There’s also an ASN program at the community college where I’m currently taking a lot of my classes, as well as an LPN program. I already have everything I need for the ASN, and I plan on applying to see what happens. If I receive an offer, I will likely accept it since the cost is cheaper.

My main question is about the LPN program. If I get an offer for LPN, should I consider going that route first instead of pursuing my RN?

For context, I have all A’s in my prerequisites except for psychology. I transferred in a psychology credit with an A, but for some reason, the community college hasn’t fully accepted it. They have it on file, but they’ve been unclear about it, so I plan on speaking with an advisor tomorrow. As of now, I would be applying with a C.

It’s a points-based system, so I estimate I would have around 150 points out of a possible 180 (assuming someone gets around a 90 on the TEAS). I could retake psychology if the credit doesn’t transfer or if they give me issues, but I checked online and it should transfer, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

I’m also wondering if I should do the LPN first. To be fully transparent, I’m 26 and have enough savings to pay for college out of pocket. I’m only able to do this because I live at home, and while I was working, I was saving and investing before I got laid off.

However, if I get my LPN, I could work in a hospital while continuing my education, and potentially have them help pay for it while also bringing in income and experience.

either way if i go the ASN route or the BSN route it'll take 2 years if i get into the ASN great.

But just wondering if its worth it to do it or i would just be wasting a year and my money if i did it.

for context i took it online remotely through the ATI website and had ATI send transcript over to the Ivy tech campus im attending although honestly starting to think should've just sent it to Indy.

Anyway how long does it usually take for it to display i know it says 72 hours but what has your guys experience been like.
