I know it’s not a usual post but there is someone I know who had a family member go missing while flying their plane near lake simcoe. I know people go exploring in rural areas there sometimes. If you do or know any drone operators or see the plane described I am putting it out there to hopefully find a poor old man. This person is a realtor and has a public profile so I’m not posting anything private. If you are a drone operator out there or know anyone who might help you can contact her on instagram. It was just announced that staples won the bid… they are so expensive and again I find it weird that none of the news outlets are talking to the teachers. There are so many people here who have been saying they aren’t eligible or the money is pooled. There is little oversight and these announcements don’t really have enough real information about how it is distributed at the school level

Okay so:

You get a plastic card with instructions

Your board has to provide and create a login most likely at the board or in your school probably by office staff who are dealing with start up (nightmare)

Your principal or board is determining who is eligible but it looks like only core homeroom teachers and dedicated spec ed

Rotary is going to be a sticky situation

LTOs

Depends on when you are hired and you get leftover money from the other teacher if it is 3mo coverage or more. That’s it. But they stipulate supplies stay in the classroom as they do. You can’t take anything with you if you are assigned to a new position which can be frustrating for items like flash cards and teaching aids you like.

I guess the rollover is done by your overwhelmed office staff because accounts admin don’t always exist at elementary. May be an OA, board or principal. Pray for your single admins at schools.

Split classes may share a budget or not. Kinda sketchy seems to be up to the principal or make a case to the board but I am reading into it.

Interesting points

They will be adjusting what’s available and stock through the ministry it seems based on purchasing but if things are out of stock you gotta wait. I wonder if there is a priority que for traffic or if they have a plan for many people accessing the portal all at once to avoid supplies being out of stock.

They are charging for shipping of 9.99 if you buy something under 50 bucks and because it is individualized it doesn’t look like a school can put a few things for multiple teachers on one order because it’s a login system? But then they say to order things to the school so there are fewer packages shipped? How does that work with individual accounts? It’s unclear.

Shipping times will vary and stock seems to be dictated by ministry?

Training and support for those setting up your accounts will come when the site is live on Sept 1st
