What do people think?

John sat at the port looking at the sailors at work. There were sailors, on the rigging, on deck and hanging from the side of ships. Making everything ready for their next voyage. John saw a white seagull gliding over the water. "They're flying low today," said a man with a blue sailor's hat on, "You’d better go home kid. It's going to storm," said the man whilst looking at the ships.

"I can’t, mister, I'm looking for The White Snow." "The White Snow, eh, talk about failed expeditions. They’re anchored a bit further from here. Just keep walking in that direction and you'll see her,”

The man pointed in a southward direction. John thanked the man and walked southwards. Before long he saw a large white ship, with a giant bow sprite. A man with long dark curls of hair, blue breeches and a golden coat climbed out of it. John, quickly walked up to him and asked him if he had seen his brother. At this the man started—The man briefly scratched his chin, which was completely clean-shaven—before giving him a subdued smile. His teeth were perfect, apart from a single missing tooth in the upper left corner of his mouth. "Your, Jimmy's brother?" Said the man eventually in a slightly melancholy tone. The man observed him carefully. His eyes slowly matching his tone. "Yeah, you are. I'm sorry to tell ya," He glanced for a second at The White Snow, "But your brother fell off the rigging. The captain tried to save him, but…” He paused. Scratched his chin then continued,

"Unfortunately, it was too late. By the time we could throw him a rope, he was lost to the sea,"
as he told this a man came from the ship behind him. He had a messy beard, full of grease and long grey hair; at his side he had a long cutlass. He briefly patted it with his right hand. "What's wrong, Carrol? Is this boy troubling ya? shall I teach him a lesson?" He said in a rough voice. Suddenly the man—who was apparently called Carrol—grabbed the man by his coat, "Ya bearded fool, this boy is Jimmy's brother. Show him some respect,"

At this the man became nervous, “sorry, boss. I didn’t know…”

For a second, Carrol held the other man by his coat. His face showed an intense expression. Slowly he began to calm down and said, in a softer tone, "Yeah it won't..." before letting go of his coat. His demeanor slowly changed to a more amicable one, "Be a bit kinder to strangers, Tim. They don’t know ya,"

"Yeah. will do," said the man with drops of sweat billowing down his face. "I’m sorry," said the man to John, before briskly walking away.

“I'm sorry about my friend. He is alright, if you learn to know him. Which reminds me, I was supposed to give you something. Can I come by later this afternoon?” John, still a bit distressed by the passing of his brother, and also a bit scared of the other man, wasn't sure how to respond. Carrol saw his problem. “You're worried I am lying, kid? Smart, but your mother will recognize my name and will be able to tell you of the quality of my character,” At that point a man, John, recognised, the captain of the ship arrived, "Ah, Carrol I see you have met John?" He said in a friendly tone, “Yes, captain, I was just telling him of the passing of his brother.” “Ah yes, very sad those pirates…” “Shot him on the rigging. And in the turmoil you unfortunately, couldn't, save him,” finished Carrol, scratching his chin again, “Yes, most unfortunate...” said the captain. The captain explained that Carrol was indeed the man he said he was and when all this was confirmed, it was agreed upon that Carrol would later that day tell John's mother, Mary, about the bad news.

Afterwards, John wasn't sure how to return home, he could go back to his house, but John wasn't sure what to tell his mother. If he waited until noon he would be spared the burden of telling his mother about his brother's death.

Finally, it started to drizzle so John reluctantly walked home. When he arrived at his house, he saw that his mother was sitting on the sofa with tears in her blue eyes.

As John entered the house he observed his mother, unsure what to say next. There was a long silence. Finally John reluctantly asked: "What is it mother?" Again a pause, John's mother looked down at the floor, there was an old plank loose, she had meant to fix it, but never got around to it. "It's your brother, James. He has… John's mother eyes shifted to the window outside the rain had slowly transformed into a thunderstorm, "Died," Finished John, "I know, I heard it from a carrol at the dock," There was another silence.

John's mother looked at her son, his red flowing hair with his little freckles, she always used to tell him that James looked very similar when he was his age. “Carrol left us this.” She said, “He said, James would have wanted us to have it.” His mother gave him a strange stone that John had never seen before. "It is a meteor, " explained his mother. "It comes from space," John recognised the word his brother was always fascinated by the night sky. He always used to talk about wanting to voyage through them one day.

Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by a bark. It was their dog, Homer, he wanted to be let in. John's mother hurried to the door, opened the lock and flung the door open. Homer rushed in, the dog barked a bit more, ran around the house, finally finding rest on a pillow to the side of the window. Afterwards, John and his mother just sat there, reminiscing about the times they had with James.

A little in the outskirts of town, burned a bright light in an inn named The Silent Dagger. Inside a man with a missing tooth stood in front of a crowd, "So, Tim you couldn't watch your tongue a little bit more, if it wasn't for our good friend Milton over here, we would have lost the trust of John," said the man with the missing tooth.

"I'm sorry boss I wasn't aware…" Oh, you weren't aware! Do you hear that he wasn't aware now? What do we do with people who aren't aware?" said the man to his crowd. The crowd slowly began to laugh, "No please! N…" Before he could finish that last sentence, there was a loud sound and then his eyes became dull.

I feel like I'm making to many mistakes

John sat at the port looking at the sailors at work.

Everywhere there were sailors on the rigging, on the moor, hanging from the side of the ships, making everything ready for their next voyage. John saw a white seagull gliding over the water.
