Just got done with my second rewatch of the show and i had a physical reaction every time Lenny was on screen. I love his character and Luke Kirby’s acting SO MUCH ITS INSANE. I wish wish wish he had more screen time, i genuinely dreaded the part when SPOILER Midge and him hook up because i knew it meant i would no longer see much of him. He is so fucking incredible. Its wild that Luke Kirby didn’t get like a billion offers and projects after his role, i mean he got an Emmy for god’s sake! Anyway Lenny Bruce you absolute legend, i have depression after finishing the show and its a little bit your fault too.

Look, im at the end of season 2 rn and it has been twice where they both almost cheated on eachother, or did cheat on eachother only mildly before realizing that they still care for and love eachother and backing out at the last minute. Sandy clearly still had some feelings for Rebecca and Kirsten was crushing hard or Carter. They keep drifting apart. I know they’re the “healthiest” relationship on the show but thats a pretty low bar considering the OC standard. I think that if they both routinely catch themselves having feelings for different people, despite still being very much in love w their partner, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to consider an open marriage. Now i know this is 2003 and that this is all for added drama but think, today in 2026, do you think its normal for a happily married couple to routinely be persuaded to cheat on eachother and literally having to force themselves out of it? In the modern world an open marriage wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Kirsten’s feelings for carter, for example, were obviously real. The show even glorified and romanticized them and the tension was palpable. Almost like they wanted us to root for the cheating instead of being upset, which is interesting because why? Sure, cheating happens absurdly often in the OC but still, their version is always different because they’ve been married for twenty years and they both still love eachother so much. The way they handle opposite sex relationships and interactions isn’t normal for a loyal dedicated marriage. Anw ig i was just wondering if anyone felt the same way, and what your thoughts are on their marriage dynamics. I still haven’t finished the show so if there are any details that oppose my argument feel free to share.

Edit: An open marriage is not a breakup. I repeat, an open marriage is NOT A BREAKUP. ITS NOT A NEGATIVE THING. ITS JUST A NEUTRAL THING. Vaping has been making me SO SICK lately, i can’t even smell eggs during breakfast and all food stirs up my stomach. I feel like shit, i just wanna throw my vape out the window. Maybe its because i’m on my period but its been happening for a while and i never used to get nauseous before. But I still want another hit all the time. It’s genuinely torture. I’m gonna quit soon and i just joined this subreddit for motivation, but im curious if anyone else gets nauseous because of vaping so frequently.

- Decided that Troy is racist and has used slurs before because Dallas Kent was racist? (neither of these things confirmed btw, completely hc)

- Agree that hollanov are infinitely freaky and that shane enjoys various extremely intense kinks despite them being pretty vanilla in the show

To be clear, i am very much not bashing any head canon or fic idea or oc, i enjoy them all DEEPLY. I only wanted to put into perspective truly how much discourse has gone into this show and how much time and energy we put into it. Also, if i missed anything lmk and if you don’t recognize a discourse, congrats you aren’t chronically online.

So this is a bit of a spoiler, and also a question. I’m just curious why Garett didn’t get a penalty and get sent to the penalty box for his fight with Hannah’s assaulter. Instead he got taken off the ice. Isn’t it pretty normal in hockey to have fights, its usually a 5 minute penalty and not that deep. But it seemed like a huge deal in the show? He got suspended for it but it was just a fight. Thats kinda what hockey is. Is there something i’m missing or does college hockey work differently? Genuinely just curious.

Update: I got my answer y’all, apparently NCAA hockey rules when it comes to fighting are different. Thanks for educating me.

*October LMAO sorry* As a fan of both bands i am absolutely psyched. I love Death Cab and I actually started listening to them because they’re one of tøp’s favorite bands. And now im in love with them, I listened to the whole discography and i’m dying to see them live. I think this is absolutely monumental for both bands, as Ohio Stadium is the fifth biggest stadium in the world with a capacity of 100.000 people. Its tøp’s biggest concert to date and also death cab’s and i just wanted to see what other death cab fans think about it.
