Would anyone be interested in providing (or able to recommend) online singing lessons for a child that we could do daily for around 10 days in preparation for an audition? Some context
- Kid is a 10yo boy. Good at piano and violin, but poor vocal control - you'd think he was tone deaf hearing him sing, but would think he was a little talented if you heard him play.
- He LOVES music and his musical theater summer camp, but has not auditioned well and has been so bummed to not get better roles the last 2 years.
- I (mom) sing but don't seem good at teaching and don't want me practicing with him to make him more anxious (but he's the kid of kid that would love a lesson opportunity). I'm more interested in him feeling more prepared than I am in him sounding great, if that makes sense.
We are on Eastern US time. I'm guessing these would be half-hour lessons. Ideal timing is between 3:30-5:30 pm on weekdays, and morning/flexible on weekends (we are very early people if that helps).
And yes I realize its late to be asking this :). If your feedback is there's not much you can do in 10 days, I get it!
Has anyone used a Trailer Tug Dolly for a dual-axel trailer? Our driveway is on a super narrow street, so backing the boat in with the truck is very difficult. We're reading that the dolly is not ideal for dual axel. Has anyone used this setup? Any issues?
New to this group: 40yo mom, wife, FT job, decided to make a few apps to deal with "mom problems" as my son calls it. I'm NOT planning on making much or any money, and this is not promo - I won't include the app name or link. But I'd really love some feedback from actual moms who cook. More info below. If interested comment or DM, and I'll DM you a link/code to get 50 scans (see below) for free.
The app/story:
"Salt to taste" used to be for steak, gravy, and other salt-at-the-end recipes. Now its the ultimate copout, used on nearly 1/2 of all internet recipes, and a common complaint among people who actually cook, for more than themselves (Salt to my taste for a family of 4? Can I just have a minimum?)
With the app, you can snap a pic, upload a screenshot, or paste text and get an instant salt calculation. The calculator was developed via deep research on salt science and best practices, and refined using hundreds of high-quality recipes where salt IS listed. Made by a 40 yo mom who's been cooking for 25 years, spent 10 years working in family/local restaurants, and LOVES everything about cooking except unclear instructions 🙃.
Guys THIS is why I wanted to make apps. Not to make a ton of money - I'm still at a loss with my LLC and insurance costs. Not to find problems and solve them. But to solve the problems I've had for years as a person managing a household, and have been surprised nobody tried it sooner.
Salt to taste is the most overused instruction in cooking. Its fine in gravy and dishes where you salt at the end. It has no place on raw potatoes, raw chicken, in a casserole before it hits the oven. I have 372 recipes in Plan to Eat (shoutout) and 1/3 of them say Salt to Taste.
I've wanted to build a calculator for years, but it seemed like too much input each time (ingredients, weights). Now that AI can scan a recipe for you, it was time.
SaltSnap uses a calculator created by me (a 40yo mom who's become a very good cook) using all the science/best practices and refined using 100s of recipes. When a user scans a recipe and gives feedback, that feedback is used to further refine the calculator.
Please check it out and lmk what you think. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/saltsnap-recipe-seasoning/id6762474072
Promo is no my thing (mom, FT job, busy) so if you have any tips I'd very much appreciate it.
