JioHotstar Premium 4K is a total scam on PC — paying customers getting cheated

Bhai log, seriously need to vent about this JioHotstar nonsense.

I paid good money for the Premium 4K plan thinking I'll finally enjoy proper quality content on all my devices. On my LG C5 , Works perfectly, buttery 4K, no complaints there except for asli 4k logo . But the moment I try to watch anything on my PC, it becomes a complete joke. My monitor is 21:9 ultrawide, and JioHotstar shows the video in a tiny little windowed box with thick black bars on ALL FOUR sides. Not just letterboxing, full postcard-size video in the middle of my screen. Looks like I'm watching content from 2005. And forget about 4K on PC — that option simply doesn't exist in browser, no matter what plan you have.

Cancelling my subscription today. Going back to r/piracy where at least the "free" service respects my monitor's resolution. Absolute joke of a platform.

If anyone from JioHotstar reads this , fix your PC/browser player or stop calling it "Premium 4K." You're just conning people at this point.

TL;DR: Paid for 4K, works only on TV, PC gets a black-bordered window with no 4K option. Have to use Chrome extensions and NVIDIA VSR to make it bearable. Scam service. Sailing the high seas from now on. 🏴‍☠️

To make it even watchable , I have to

  • Install a separate Chrome extension just to stretch the video properly
  • Enable NVIDIA RTX VSR (Video Super Resolution) on my GPU to upscale the garbage quality they're serving
  • Basically use my own hardware and third-party tools to fix what THEY should be providing

JioFiber bufferbloat — anyone found a fix? Jio technicians have zero clue

Bhai I'm done with JioFiber. Getting horrible bufferbloat on my connection.

I've raised multiple complaints, sent emails, called support — they keep sending technicians who have absolutely no idea what bufferbloat or packet loss even means. Their solution every single time

"Sir speedtest toh theek aa raha hai" 🤡 ,Restart the router ,Change the fiber cable

What I want to know:

  1. Has anyone got bridge mode enabled on Jio ONT? So I can use my own router with SQM/QoS?
  2. If you added a secondary router (OpenWrt etc.) behind Jio ONT without bridge mode — did it actually help or Double NAT made things worse?
  3. Any actual escalation path inside Jio where someone technically competent picks up?

Currently on 100 Mbps plan, using Jio's stock router. Connected via ethernet.

Any help appreciated yaar. Thak gaya hoon. 🙏

JioFiber “Unlimited” plan shows NO DATA before billing cycle ends — how is this not misleading?

I’m on a JioFiber postpaid plan: Postpaid_699_3M, advertised in the app as:

  • Speed: 100 Mbps
  • Data: Unlimited
  • Voice: Unlimited
  • Bill cycle reset: July 06

But now, 1–2 days before the billing cycle resets, the app suddenly shows “NO DATA” even though the plan itself still says Data: Unlimited.

To continue using the internet, Jio is pushing me to buy an add-on like JioFiber_1TB_RC555. The ridiculous part is that this add-on also expires with the same billing cycle — so if I buy 1TB now, it expires in just 1–2 days, even if I don’t fully use it.

I get that companies may have Fair Usage Policy/FUP limits, but then why market and display the plan as “Unlimited” so prominently? If there is a hidden cap, it should clearly show:

  • Total monthly FUP limit
  • How much data has been used
  • What happens after the limit
  • Whether speed is reduced or data is completely cut off

Instead, the app says Unlimited, but the connection says NO DATA. That feels extremely misleading.

Has anyone else faced this with JioFiber? Is there any actual way to complain about this — Jio appellate authority, TRAI, consumer forum, etc.? Because selling “unlimited” and then forcing customers to buy temporary add-ons right before renewal feels like a very shady practice.
