Jio Set Top Box forcing startup ads every time, any way to disable them?
Jio Set Top Box startup ads are becoming really annoying. Every time I turn on the TV, two ads play before I can access anything.
This is causing a poor user experience, especially because there seems to be no clear option to disable these ads. Paying customers should not be forced to watch ads before using their own TV setup.
Jio should provide a setting to turn off startup ads or at least allow users to skip them immediately.
Frustrating experience with Jio AirFiber
This is a late post but wanted to share my experience with Jio AirFiber installation.
Despite reading countless negative reviews about Jio AirFiber's installation process and customer support, I still decided to give it a chance. I thought maybe those experiences depended on the local installation team and that I might have a smoother experience but I was wrong. I had similar experience.
Enquired about Jio AirFiber connection through Jio app on 19 April 2026, they sent my detail to local representative and said he will call me. That guy didn't bother to call me. then my details were sent to another representative. He called me on 21st April, came to my place, did all formalities and asked me to pay 1200 rs. I paid then he said you will get AirFiber installed by 28th April. But even after 1 week of scheduled installation date I didn't get any call, message or any update. I tried calling jio representative multiple times but he didn't even pick the call. After multiple calls he picked up call and said installation will be done soon. It happened like this multiple times. sometimes he said installation will be done within 2 day and once he said your AirFiber kit has arrived and installation will be done tomorrow. Still nothing happened. I messaged him on whatsapp multiple times but he didn't even bother to read the messages.
I tried every way to reach the customer care team (through app, whatsapp customer care, call) but apparently you cannot reach unless AirFiber is installed. Every channel either redirected me to automated responses or failed to provide any meaningful support. So decided to write an mail to Jio Maharashtra Appellate Authority. Again Got an automated response that you will get reply within 24 hrs. Again they didn't respond. After 3 days on 22 May got mail saying service request has been generated and you will get update by 24th May. Again nothing happened.
Then I filed complaint on National Consumer Helpline portal and mailed them again that if this time issue is not resolved then i will escalate the issue to consumer court. Again got the similar response that you will get update within 3 days. meanwhile I called jio repetitive and he told me that your order got cancelled dur to shortage of AirFiber kits (He was lying). Again wrote mail to Appellate authority seeking explanation. again similar response but since i filed complaint on NCH portal they took it seriously. I got call from representative and he said installation will happen today only. he scheduled engineer's appointment for installation for same day but he didn't come and after 2-3 days i got mail that your order has been cancelled.
I was very frustrated and wanted to file a case in consumer court but I didn't want to waste any more time so decided to get Airtel Xtream Fiber connection instead. Installed app didn't even book appointment, i was just scrolling on their app and I call from their representative. I said I want to get xtream fiber connection. Their representative came and did all formalities, I paid the amount like i did for Jio Airfiber but unlike Jio Airfiber they installed Xtream fiber on very next day. It is working well and i didn't face any issue.
I'm not saying everyone's experience with Jio AirFiber will be the same. But if you're considering getting a connection, be aware that if something goes wrong during the installation process, getting meaningful support can be extremely difficult. In my case, even repeated follow-ups, emails to the Appellate Authority, and a complaint on the National Consumer Helpline couldn't get the installation completed.
JioFiber automatically upgraded my 30 Mbps plan to 100 Mbps for free? I'm confused.
Hi everyone,
I'm a bit confused and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
I purchased the ₹2,222 quarterly JioFiber plan, which was supposed to provide 30 Mbps along with the set-top box.
Just 3 days after installation, I received an email and SMS saying:
Recharge of ₹0 successful
- 100 Mbps Speed
- Validity: Active Recharge Cycle
When I checked the MyJio app, my plan had changed to Fiber_100Mbps_MDU, and I'm actually getting around 100 Mbps on speed tests.
The strange part is:
- I never requested a plan change.
- I only paid ₹2,222, not ₹3,333.
- My validity is still the same.
Has anyone else received a free upgrade like this?
Any explanation would be appreciated. Thanks!
Jio SIM Deactivated Abroad – Can I Recover My Number After 60 Days?
Has anyone faced this with Jio?
I’m living abroad, and my Jio SIM was deactivated without any warning. Customer care says there’s no way to reactivate it remotely and that I must visit a Jio Store in India, which isn’t possible.
They also said that after 60 days, my number will go back to Airtel (I had ported it from Airtel), and a family member may be able to claim it from Airtel.
Has anyone successfully recovered their number this way? Is it really possible for a family member to do it?
This is extremely frustrating, especially since Jio never sent any warning before deactivating the SIM.
Jio service
Jio service has to be one of the worst shittiest outdated services so far. I was speaking to one of the execs and they asked me to wait until they could get the application to open on their sire and the call got terminated after waiting for 10min. I am a fucking clown to these guys its not even funny
Need Help Extending My Old JioFiber Router's WiFi Coverage to the 1st Floor of a 4500 Sq. Ft. House
Hey everyone,
I've had a JioFiber connection since around 2019-20 and I'm still using the initial older router provided with the connection.
The router is currently placed in one corner of the ground floor. The house is around 4500 sq. ft., and I want to extend the WiFi coverage to a single room on the 1st floor, towards the other corner of the house, although it's on the same side of the building.
I researched a bit and, from what I understand, the best solution would be to run an Ethernet cable from the main JioFiber router to the 1st floor and connect it to either:
- Another dual-band router configured as an Access Point
- A dedicated Access Point
- A mesh WiFi system with wired backhaul
I'm honestly confused about which setup would be the best for my use case.
My main priority is getting good speeds, stable connectivity and proper WiFi coverage on that room of 1st floor without losing a significant amount of bandwidth.
Should I simply get a good dual-band router and use it in AP mode? Would investing in a mesh system make more sense for a house of this size? Also, would it be better to run a Cat6 cable between the floors?
If anyone has done something similar with an older JioFiber router or has experience setting up WiFi coverage for a large house, please share your setup and recommendations.
Specific router, Access Point or mesh system recommendations are also welcome.
Would really appreciate some guidance before I start buying equipment and running cables. Thanks!

Airtel Broadband Nightmare: Secretly reactivated my formally cancelled account, billed me, and Nodal Officer refused my audio evidence because "he doesn't speak Hindi."
Hey everyone, just sharing a massive cautionary tale about Airtel Xstream Fiber and their predatory retention traps. If you are disconnecting your Airtel broadband, record every single phone call.
Here is the absolute nightmare they’ve put me through over the last 8 months:
- 170+ Complaints & Harassment: After months of severe DNS issues and dead internet, I filed dozens of complaints. Instead of fixing it, an Airtel supervisor showed up at my house unannounced and tried to coerce me into giving him an OTP to force-close the complaint. I recorded him and formally disconnected my service.
- The "Free Trial" Trap: Their retention team begged me to take a "one-month free trial" just to test if the network was fixed. The representative verbally guaranteed on a recorded line that if the internet dropped at all, the account would automatically disconnect with zero charges. It went down for 3 days during the trial, so I told them I was done.
- Secret Reactivation: Weeks later, I got a bill in 18 of June. Airtel had secretly and unlawfully reinstated my connection without my consent and started charging me for a dead, officially terminated service.
- The Nodal Officer Joke: I escalated this to the Appellate Team and got a Nodal Officer on the phone. I literally played the audio recording of their agent promising the auto-disconnection and zero-billing guarantee. His response? He completely refused to acknowledge the proof because the agent was speaking in Hindi, and he claimed he "doesn't understand Hindi." He refused to get a translator, talked over me, and dismissed the whole thing.
I’ve just sent my absolute final legal notice attached with all audio files and transcripts. If they don't refund my money and wipe the fraudulent bills, I'm taking all of this to the Consumer Court (NCDRC) and filing an FIR for corporate harassment.
TL;DR: Cancelled Airtel due to outages. They offered a free trial, promised it wouldn't bill me, secretly reactivated my account when the trial failed, and billed me anyway. When I played the audio proof to the Nodal Officer, he rejected it because he "doesn't speak Hindi."
Has anyone else dealt with this specific level of scamming from Airtel? Any advice for the Consumer Court filing would be appreciated!
