The Arlington Fire Department is currently battling a 4-alarm fire at a building in the western part of the city.

Footage from Chopper 8 shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday shows several fire engines surrounding the building, located at 2410 W. Abram St. The building itself is missing its roof, with fire rising up from the walls as well as large amounts of smoke.

WFAA spoke with the owner of Beirut Grill and confirmed that the restaurant, including Smash Toast, sustained significant damage. Both restaurants were closed at the time, so they are unaware of how the fire started.

Beirut Grill has been in business for more than 10 years.

AFD has confirmed the fire and says it will provide more info once it has been stabilized.

It is not yet clear if anyone has been injured or what caused the fire.

Tesla FSD v14 Lite tied to rising HW3 computer failures, owners report

Tesla FSD v14 Lite tied to rising HW3 computer failures, owners report | Electrek

A growing number of Tesla owners running the new Full Self-Driving v14 “Lite” build on Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles are reporting Autopilot computer overheating alerts — and, in some cases, outright computer failures.

The reports have stacked up in the two weeks since Tesla pushed v14 Lite to wide release, and four owners have contacted Electrek directly about the same problem.

What FSD v14 Lite is doing to older hardware

Tesla started rolling out FSD v14 Lite to HW3 cars in late June and pushed it to wide release with software version 2026.20.6.11 (FSD v14.3.6) on July 21.

The build is a distilled version of the HW4 v14 model, squeezed down to run on the memory-constrained AI3 computer. That computer is the constraint: HW3 ships with 8GB of RAM and roughly one-eighth of HW4’s memory bandwidth, which is why Tesla was stuck running v12.6 on these cars for more than a year before the Lite build.

Now that a heavier v14-derived model is running on that hardware, owners are reporting that the Autopilot computer is running hot.

Several have posted service-mode screenshots showing the Autopilot ECU board triggering APP_w141_ECU_Thermal_Issue, the fault Tesla sets when the board climbs above 90°C. Multiple owners measured 96°C. On the road, the alert shows up as “red hands,” a forced FSD disengagement, and a selfDrivingUnavailable state until the computer cools down.

HW3 ECU failures are nothing new, but Electrek has received several reports that owners have tried to running FSD v14 Lite over the last few weeks.

From thermal alerts to a dead computer

The more serious reports go beyond throttling. Some Tesla owners are reporting that the computer fully shuts down and needs to be replaced, according to Tesla Service.

That is the scenario Tesla can least afford. The company is already on the hook to replace the self-driving computer in roughly 4 million cars or compensate their owners after admitting HW3 can’t deliver the unsupervised self-driving it was sold. Tesla still has no clear plan for those HW3 owners — and a software update that accelerates hardware failures would only deepen the liability.

To be clear about what’s known and what isn’t: the APP_w141 thermal fault is not new. It’s a long-documented HW3 problem usually traced to the cooling loop — low coolant, air pockets in the Octovalve, or a clogged radiator — and it predates v14 Lite by years. Tesla has not confirmed that the software is causing hardware to fail.

But the timing is hard to ignore. The alerts and failures are clustering around v14 Lite installs, the reports are increasing as the rollout goes wide, and the mechanism is plausible: a more demanding model drawing more from a computer that was already memory- and thermally-constrained. Owners are also reporting broader v14 Lite regressions, phantom braking, hesitation, and brake stuttering — that point to the same compute ceiling.

NHTSA probes 1.2M Tesla Model 3, Model Y over suspension failures

NHTSA probes 1.2M Tesla Model 3, Model Y over suspension failures | Electrek

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into roughly 1.2 million Tesla vehicles after receiving 156 complaints of a front suspension component detaching while driving.

The probe covers 2018-2020 Model 3 and 2021-2023 Model Y vehicles, and it centers on the front lower lateral link separating from the car.

What NHTSA is looking at

The agency’s Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a preliminary evaluation, the first stage of its process. If ODI finds a safety-related defect, it can escalate to an engineering analysis and, eventually, force a recall.

According to the investigation documents, the front lower lateral link has detached in the affected cars. That’s a core piece of the front suspension. When it lets go, the agency says the vehicle can lose steering control, become undriveable, and need to be towed.

The complaint pattern is the part that stands out. Most owners reported no advance warning before the link failed. Some said they heard noises beforehand, but many didn’t get even that. A suspension component that separates without warning is a very different safety picture than one that clunks and rattles for weeks first.

For now, NHTSA says it isn’t aware of any crashes, injuries, or fatalities tied to the defect. That’s good news, but 156 complaints is not a small number for a preliminary evaluation.

This isn’t Tesla’s first suspension problem

Tesla has been down this road before with the same part on the same cars.

The company issued a recall in 2021 covering roughly 2,800 Model 3 vehicles over a suspension issue tied to a production problem. A second recall in 2023 hit 422 Model 3 vehicles for similar failures. NHTSA says the failures it’s now investigating go beyond the scope of those earlier recalls, and they don’t appear to be the same production issue.

Suspension has been a recurring headache for Tesla with regulators. Back in 2020, Tesla came under NHTSA scrutiny over Model S and Model X suspension after it disputed a related recall in China. That saga stretched on for years before the agency closed it in 2024 without forcing a recall, though it did recommend Tesla change a part.

The pattern is a familiar one: complaints pile up, Tesla points to isolated causes, and NHTSA has to decide whether there’s a systemic defect underneath.

Arlington celebrates record tourism, global spotlight as World Cup nears finale

2026 World Cup boosts Arlington tourism as semifinal nears – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The city's final 2026 FIFA World Cup match is next week's semifinal, but leaders say the event's impact is just beginning.

Arlington is one match away from wrapping up its role as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with next week's semifinal marking the final match in the city.

As the tournament winds down locally, Arlington leaders say the event has already delivered historic economic results, strengthened international relationships and positioned the city for future opportunities.

Mayor Jim Ross has attended every World Cup match at Dallas Stadium so far, meeting with diplomats and dignitaries from each visiting country.

"Lord, I don't even know where to start," Ross said.

Ross said those meetings have included conversations with world leaders, including the king of Jordan, which he believes could lead to long-term business partnerships.

"When the king asks to meet you and visit with you, you say, 'Absolutely, yes!'" Ross said.

"For Arlington, that's special. We're the most diverse city in all of Texas. We're third most diverse in the country. So that diversity really is our heart and soul," Ross said.

The mayor also said June was a record-setting month for the city's hospitality industry.

"This June, we had over 31 million dollars in hotel revenue," Ross said. "That's not including restaurants, retail shops, and everybody."

Ross said the city also received praise from FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the tournament.

"And he introduced me, and he goes, 'This is the mayor that has the city with the best stadium in the world,'" Ross said. "Now I hope I don't get him in trouble for sharing that. Maybe he tells every mayor that, I don't know. But I was bursting at the seams with pride."

Looking ahead, Ross said Arlington plans to pursue additional opportunities to host future FIFA events, including the FIFA Women's World Cup.

"You better believe that we're gonna be putting forth a major effort to not only get the Women's World Cup here, but to get the final of the Women's World Cup here in Arlington," Ross said.

Ruptured sewer line spills more than 100,000 gallons in Arlington

Ruptured sewer line spills more than 100,000 gallons in Arlington – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

The Trinity River Authority says no public drinking water has been affected after a ruptured wastewater pipeline caused issues in Southeast Arlington.

The authority reported the ruptured sewer line off Mirabella Boulevard. The outflow exceeded 100,000 gallons, prompting notification to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

The Trinity River Authority said the rupture does not affect service to customers and no public drinking water has been threatened.

People using private water wells within a half-mile of the spill should use distilled or boiled water for personal use.

Greece trip report

I won't make this long, but just wanted to give my experience:

Trip was from June 23rd - 29th and was booked through Gate 1 travel, except for flights! We went with another couple that we longtime friends, and this was their first international trip

We flew from DFW to Athens on AA and flight time was about 12 hours

Arrived in Athens and stayed for two days, visited the changing of the guard and of course the Parthenon area. Also went to the flea market area as well.

In Athens, we just got around by walking and using the Metro, which I always try to do in cities that offer it!

The 25th was the wife's birthday, which was the whole reason for the trip, as well as being on our bucket list We had dinner at Strofi's which had some great food and a great view from their rooftop (first picture)

Unfortunately, Athens was hot with temps in the 90s, but luckily being from Texas, that helped as we are used to those temps!

The next day, we got up early and got on our cruise ship (Celestyal Discovery) at the cruise port (second picture)

We did sailings to:

Mykonos, Greece

Kusadasi, Turkey

Patmos, Greece

Santorini, Greece (third picture)

We had a lot of fun and enjoyed ourselves and the food was great. We loved just about everything we tried, even though we live in a big city and can easily get the same food here. There is something different about it being made fresh and with the fresh local food by locals!

We also enjoyed using a travel agency, which helped us getting off the ship first going to our excursions, especially for a lot of these busier, popular places!

That about sums it up....

feel free to ask any questions that you may have!

AT&T fiber options and pricing changing

AT&T Pushes Lower Fiber Internet Pricing, Most Notably on Its 5-Gig Plan

The carrier also says customers can save more by bundling their fiber plan with AT&T's cellular service. The change arrives months after the company enacted a $5 price hike.

AT&T is reducing the monthly price for some of its fiber internet plans, including the ultra-fast 5-gigabit plan, which is now available for as low as $120. Previously, it could cost $180 to $255.

The price changes are part of AT&T’s effort to streamline its fiber plans. Starting June 7, the carrier will consolidate its offerings into four plans: 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 GIG, and 5 GIG. It's nixing the 100 Mbps and 2 GIG offerings, though both are still showing up on AT&T’s website.

The big change is that the 5 GIG plan can drop to $120 if it’s available in your area. But a footnote indicates you need to switch to an eligible AT&T cellular plan to receive the full discount, in addition to opting in to monthly autopay.

"For the 5 GIG plan, to get the $25/mo. discount, customers will need a postpaid AT&T wireless account in the same name," AT&T told PCMag.

The company also seems to be reducing the 300Mbps plan from $ 55 per month to $50, with the same limitations. That said, AT&T’s fiber pricing can vary by location. For example, the carrier can offer additional discounts for new customers, including $48 per month on the 1GIG plan, though the pricing is only valid for the first 12 months.

The real savings, though, come from bundling. Although it lacks specifics, AT&T’s announcement emphasizes that customers can save up to $420 per year by combining fiber internet with a cellular plan. But again, we'd encourage you to read the fine print on such offers.
