I would like to hear from anyone on here that had surgery for lumbar stenosis and spondylolisthesis. Also, anyone have ALIF? That approach scares me. Thanks!

Can anyone here recommend a neurosurgeon in Austin, Texas or nearby surrounding areas? I have one but, before I have surgery, I would like two opinions.
Thank you in advance!

Limited Walking Quality of Life

Hey everyone. Severe stenosis here L4-5. Diagnosed in 2007. In 2019 doc at the time wanted to do an ALIF. I chose conserative treatment. No treatment except home treatment PT, ice /heat, tropicals, etc. I have allergies to tons of meds. Regular steroids were ok and Medrol Dosepak helped previously, but current doc doesn't want to use them. He'd rather me go to ER if pain is bad enough. Fast forward, had mri in January. Nerve compression lumbar spine. Doc said canal is very small. I also have spondylolisthesis in lumbar spine. At my last visit in January, he said his patient in next room is using a walker but my mri is worse than his. On exam and currently I'm strong in the legs, push pull etc. Everthing intact no urine leaking all functions good. However, frequently in the evening mostly, I get up and walk to the kitchen and suddenly feel unstable and increased pain and start walking like a penguin barely getting to the kitchen chair. I feel like Im losing strength in the legs as I go. I will have to sit until I feel I can make it to the bedroom. If I dont rest enough, I will be scaling things getting back to my room. Could this be from lying down on my bed more so in the evenings? During the day, like today I was active. I felt pretty good. If on my feet longer than 10 mins without sitting it will start. My quality of life is not very good. I cant cook food for myself un less I have a roller chair near. Surgery can be an option but we are trying to exhaust all options first.

My last doc visit was good. I had a round of PT after which seemed to make things worse. So, I decided to rest 2 weeks and it was better. Now back to square one again. I've never had I injections. My question is this. Have any of you experienced what I'm going through to have injections actually help this or am I too far gone for injections with surgery my only option now? I don't want to prolong the inevitable but maybe something will help for a bit? Thought Thank for your replies.

Question About Allograft

What are the ingredients in allograft material besides bone? Have people ever had an allergy to bone graft material particularly allograft? I have a ton of allergies to different things, meds, ppg, peg, latex, tegaderm, etc. Etc. After having an extraction and bone grafts for two rear molars on 4/29, I've started to have a previous neck surgery scar start itching like crazy. It has only done this since the dental bone grafts. It may be something else, but my first though is what is different? What is the only thing that has happened? That said, I could have touched something and caused a contact dermatitis, but specifically on the scar? I doubt it. There is no rash, just the scar itself itching on and off. It has never happened before. Thanks in advance. Just trying to rule things out.

Yesterday I had two extractions #30 & #31, both failed root canal teeth. The doctor had to do a lot of drilling to remove all cracked roots, etc. I had local anesthesia. Gas makes me sick and vomit. Went well, allograft, sutured, and left biting down on gauze until home 30-40 minutes. Removed and it bleeding again. More gauze. I wet it so it doesn't stick. I am a 20 yr vet tech, so I have an understanding of the care process. 3 hours later, pain started after local wearing off. Took one Naproxen. I was juggling gauze in and out for 2 hours. Finally, gauze removed and no bleeding so left it out for a little bit. Not moving or anything. I went to sip water, and started again. I even kind of poured the water in my mouth so I don't manipulate it and tip it off again. I had a realization, the Naproxen is not helping and contributing to it bleeding again at the slightest thing. Pain stopped after first Naproxen. Well finally last night after gauze for two hours, no bleeding and overnight good. At 5 a.m. woke, ate some soft pear on opposite side of mouth keeping movement at a minimum. I have swelling. Doing on and off ice packs. Took antibiotic. and hour later took one Naproxen (duh...) for swelling. Now, at 11a.m. I was hungry. Made two eggs. Ate them really gently. Five minutes later taste blood. Surely, after eating, started oozing blood once again. It's now 12:27 p.m. and gauze once again in mouth for an hour. I'm at my wits end. I can't even eat. Is this how it goes with bone grafts or is it the Naproxen? I'm not taking Naproxen again. I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled before and this never happened. The doc prescribed Toradol (due to allergy to hydrocodone, codeine, and Tramadol.) I felt that was pretty intense so started with naproxen. I realized no more NSAIDS!
Plan: do the gauze again like last night, no more NSAIDS, (I'll use Tylenol if needed for pain) and drink smoothies very carefully after Naproxen gets out of my system. I'm not going to chew for two days to get this thing healing right. I have no pain, no discharge, feel good, taking Amox/Clav BID, Chlorhex Rinse TID, icepacks, and Tylenol PRN pain. If after doing this the rest of today does not help. I will call doc tomorrow. Does this sound like a good plan? Would love to hear from dentists regarding if I have a solid plan in place, what to be aware of, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
