What I wouldve done in S3 if i was Rhaenyra

(Just a disclaimer: no, I haven't read the books, so I'm going solely based on the show.)

  1. I would've sent Alicent to the High Septon to confess her sins, say she was guided by her own ambitions and heard what she wanted to hear from Viserys, and also have her say Aegon abdicated the throne because of it. I'd also let the High Septon know she has confessed this to me and that, after confessing, she felt even more guilty. She (Alicent) believes that the only way to atone for her sins is for them to declare me as queen. Now, this next part might be a bit controversial, but I would've had Alicent on my Small Council because she at least has some knowledge of ruling the kingdoms. I'd want that kind of advice, but also the bluntness Alicent would give me. It'd also be a great way to further prove the legitimacy of my claim by having a Hightower on my council. Now, if Alicent doesn't comply, I'd threaten her with Helaena (obviously, I'm not actually going to harm her in the end—she'll get her chicken farm after all of this, trust me). But if she does comply, I'd give Helaena free roam, but she has to remain in King's Landing, and she could visit Alicent. Either way, Helaena or any of her children won't be harmed in the matter. She'd still be confined, but she'd have a lot more access and free roam that way, so she doesn't develop cabin fever.
  2. Now, if Alicent does everything I need her to do, I’d send her, Helaena, and her granddaughter to the Eyrie. I’d actually push for Helaena to go with her dragon because, based on the show, she doesn’t enjoy riding, so I wouldn’t have to worry too much about her dragon being used against me. I’d have them and the dragon escorted by Silverwing (Ulf), alongside the Velaryon fleet. That solves the deal with jane. I’d want gold and an army from her, and Ulf would then escort the army I requested, along with the gold, back to King’s Landing. It keeps him busy and away from the taverns and such, but it also makes him feel important. Also, I probably wouldn’t tell him about the gold part lol. I’d have Alicent or someone do the talking.
  3. While that is happening, I in fact would not be sleeping with Mysaria, at least not until she’s done something of use lol. I’d have her spread around, as best she could, that Aegon mismanaged the Crown’s funds and spent all of the Crown’s royal money on his vices, which feeds the hatred toward the Greens once again.
  4. This may add fuel to the fire of me being the Queen of Bastards, but I’ve gotta do it: I’d legitimize Corlys’s children. Now, as for Ulf and Hugh, I probably won’t legitimize them at all. But if I was feeling generous, they wouldn’t get the Targaryen name at all. Instead, I’d let them start a new house.
    • If I did, I’d call them Blackfyre, obviously after the sword. (Yes, I know the history with the Blackfyres.) But I’d have them sign away their rights to the Iron Throne, while still giving them land.
  5. Next, instead of sending Daemon, I’d just have Hugh and Addam go to the Hightower army in exchange for Daeron. Obviously, I’m not letting Daeron leave without his dragon. Why on earth would i leave a dragon with them atl all… Addam and Daeron will leave, but Hugh, however, would stay behind, and I’d have him kill them all. They couldn’t be trusted under any circumstances. This adds a bit to how ruthless and unforgiving I’d become. Yeah, it may look bad, but they’d know who not to play with.
  6. Once Daeron arrives back, I’d have him bend the knee, or he will be sent to the Wall. Unfortunately for him, he’s not Helaena, so no, I’m not bluffing.
  7. Now, after that Hightower army is burnt away, every single aiding/allying house will pay a hefty tithe to the Crown’s royal fund, which includes gold and food. Most of that food is immediately going to the smallfolk.
  8. Now, as for one-eyed Aemond, I’d have Daemon and Hugh hunt for him, following Vhagar’s tracks. If he’s back in time, Ulf can join them. Now, as for Aegon, I’d actually check to make sure Sunfyre was dead. I’d send Baela and Addam to be sure that the dragon is dead and have them come back to King’s Landing once the death is officially confirmed.

It should’ve stayed show…

I've been a fan of "Heartstopper" since it first came out. Although I haven't read the books, I've watched the show multiple times because it's that good; it's a 10/10 for me. A lot of shows don’t receive a 10/10 rating from me because they lack a key element. It’s not about character development, the plot, or character arcs; for me, it’s simply a good soundtrack that makes all the difference. Even if the actors are giving outstanding performances and the plot is wonderful, a bad soundtrack can ruin the experience. "Heartstopper" has always moved me with its soundtrack each season. I can recall multiple songs from all the seasons that still resonate with me because they have a certain substance. I don't intend to downplay the work of the songwriters; it just seems that the soundtrack for this show is far superior to that of other projects. The songs in "Heartstopper" draw you in and enhance your connection to the scenes. I recently finished watching a season, and it's disappointing that I can't remember a single song from that season, unlike with previous ones. I remember how I would Shazam songs during my first watch because they stood out so much to me. But unfortunately, I feel like none of the songs in this latest season moved me as much. Maybe it's just me…

Now, moving on to the movie aspect, I feel like we missed out on key details that the show could have provided. Yes, the movie is an hour and 51 minutes long, similar to the combined length of the season's episodes, but the show truly fleshed out the characters and helped us understand their journeys. I found myself confused at times, questioning what was happening, even though I had just watched all the "Heartstopper" episodes leading up to the film. Everything felt a bit rushed, and certain moments were resolved too quickly or in unexpected ways. For example, I anticipated Charlie would still grapple with some insecurities, but we only saw that surface after his breakup with Nick. It was interesting but also felt like a departure, especially considering how he had been portrayed: insecure and dealing with body dysmorphia, transitioning into a much more confident version of himself. While I’m glad to see him embrace this confidence, it felt rapid to me.

Regarding the supporting characters, I definitely believe that Nick and Charlie should remain the focus, but I felt that the movie sidelined the side characters, who had begun to develop their own storylines and moments in the series. Take Elle and Tao, for example; I adore them as a couple, but as I watched the film unfold, I couldn’t shake the feeling that their relationship issues lacked depth. When they broke up, I didn’t feel the emotional connection I expected; instead, I was left confused. I wanted to witness the pivotal scenes that explained how their relationship had deteriorated to truly connect with their experience. I was hoping for a more illustrative storytelling approach rather than just being told what happened. And when they eventually reconciled, I was happy for them, but I didn’t feel moved in the way I thought I would.

Then there’s the breakup between Nick and Charlie it truly left me perplexed. The dynamics leading up to their split felt strangely tense, and while I understand the reasons behind it, it seemed rushed. Nick's reluctance to confide in Charlie stemmed from his upbringing, and while the weight of that background was acknowledged, I felt we could have benefited from a gradual buildup to this tension. Where were the earlier signs that hinted at this conflict? It felt as if we were just thrust into a situation without enough context, leaving me baffled.

As for the soundtrack, it didn’t seem to drive the storyline as effectively as I hoped it would. The only moment that genuinely moved me was during the ballroom scene when they sat on the floor, reminiscing about their first kiss. That flashback was powerful, but even then, the music didn’t amplify the moment as much as it could have. It was a situation where I felt a hint of sadness, but it quickly faded. And don’t even get me started on the other characters. Honestly, some of them felt like mere background figures—they hardly contributed to the story. It was disheartening to see them reduced to what felt like mere promotional props when they could have been developed much further.
