Any other students working a full time job?

I just want to know I'm not alone out here lol.

I'm a Mechanical Engineering Sophomore working a full time retail job. (Edit: I take 2-3 classes per semester and I am enrolled during the summer, fall, and spring semesters.) I don't have the luxury of things like scholarships or loans due to a mixture of bad circumstances and bad decisions, so I work to support myself and put myself through school.

If you work full time, what do you do for work, and how do you do it while in school? (Edit: Do you work a 9-5 Monday through Friday, or is your schedule a little weird?)

I find myself having the needs of sleep, personal life, and school, while only being able to pick 2 at any time. This shit, is rough. But it's not permanent, that is a very good thing that keeps me going.

But please, tell me about your experience at KSU while working a full time job.

Question about Local 72 HVACR apprenticeship

The apprenticeship program for HVACR via Local 72 requires either 2 years of HVAC experience, or completion of an accredited program, and also to be working currently for a union shop. Is this standard for HVACR?

I'm unsure how I'm supposed to get a position working in a union shop for two years without being an apprentice, or why I'd do an apprenticeship only after completing an HVACR program at a trade school.

This feels a little bit backwards but maybe I'm missing something. And I did call the apprenticeship programs office to confirm what I said in the first paragraph was true.

File versioning and drafts, does anyone have a system they like for this?

Hey!

I'm wondering if anyone on this sub has a functioning versions or drafting system and how it is implemented. And if anyone can offer some advice I'd appreciate that as well.

I really only need file versioning or drafts for writing essays. It'd be awesome to be able to mark one version of my work as version 1, and start over from scratch with a version 2, or make some changes and mark it as version 3, etc. I'd prefer to do this with as little 3rd party plugins as possible. As long as I can refer back to my different versions without having to leave obsidian, and preferably as few menus as possible, that will suffice.

As of right now my system goes:

  1. Make a file, call it "filename"
  2. make a sister file called "filename-archive"
  3. work on it until you've reached an end of the current draft or version
  4. copy and paste the entirety of the original "filename" into "filename-archive" under an H1 tag and mark it as something like "version/draft 1"

This is simple and meets my needs but is, quite annoying to setup for literally every essay I want to write. I've considered setting up Git for something like this but, I currently use Syncthing to sync my vault between devices and I'm worried that it would over complicate things.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them. Or if you just want to share the way you do it, feel free to do so. Thanks!!!!!

I've been going through my journey mostly alone for a couple years now, and it has been very difficult to find people who seem to also "get it". I live near Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States which is within a very "Christian" part of the country known as the bible belt. Many people seem to flaunt their ideology, but 99/100 when I speak to someone about faith and spirituality and their experiences it seems they haven't really connected with any sort of higher power. It feels, to me, like they're just arguing for why their viewpoint of the world is correct but I don't get that. A video by Foolish Fish titled, "A Problem With My Religion", pretty much sums up how I feel on this topic.

But moving on from my frustrations with churches, I tried exploring metaphysical shops and, while they are nicer, I still generally don't feel that connection I'm looking for. I wish I had a community of like 1-3 other seekers near me so that I could hear about their perspective and vice versa.

Have any of y'all found better places to meet others who are spiritually inclined? If so, then where? And I hate to be that guy but can it please be free or low cost. I'm not personally into yoga, and meditation for me works best when I'm alone so group meditation or yoga is not generally preferable.

I know I need sleep but I work a full time job and the best way for me to study is early in the morning before work, so from 3am - 5am. Yes I go to bed at like 7pm, I know I am crazy but this engineering degree is gonna be mine one way or another.

Before I go the MYOG option, does anybody have any EDC pouch recommendations with multiple carry styles?

I've seen some pouches with a spot for loops around a belt, or MOLLE configurations. If y'all can find one, I'd like to see a pouch with 2 loops for a sling or carabiner to hook it to whatever I desire.

Also, it doesn't exactly have to be the most "tacticool" gear ever, i'm mainly gonna use it to carry a notebook, a flashlight, and some other odds and ends between a backpack, my bicycle, and the side of my belt when walking.

I hate the feeling of things in my pockets, so if it's anything more than my cell phone, and a pair of headphones, and maybe my car keys, I'm okay. I don't want it in my pockets.

Also, I have considered a fanny pack, but I have not yet found one that isn't too bulky for me to wear comfortably between all my different modes of carry.

Edit: I think the closest thing is some sort of like sling bag somewhere between 6 to 10 inches in length and maybe 4 inches i and I don't know what they're called.
