"Woke 1"

I thought this was a chronically online thing, but it seems to have officially entered the mainstream since politicians are talking about it and it has been picked up by news outlets. Not only has the term woke been bastardized by right wing media, it is now being split into waves and being labeled 1.0, 2.0, etc. All this, once again, really goes to show how performative the allyship is of not just white people, but non-black people in general. These people will blatantly ignore the requests of black people in favor of performing their own version of progressivism, and denounce said progressivism that we never asked them to perform in the first place once it no longer benefits them. And of course this is all just a thin veil for them to be racist and criticize the BLM political movement in the name of a "new version of woke".

Am I eligible for UK citizenship?

My grandfather was in the military, and my father was born in England in 1960. I was born in 2005 in the United States. We both live in the USA. Could I potentially be eligible for British citizenship? I thought I might ask on this sub first in case anyone was in a similar situation or had some advice, before I started the process and potentially did a bunch of work for nothing.

Did anybody else dislike Obsession(but not in a hater way)?

I want to emphasize that I do not want to start a hate train on this movie. I actually thought it was really good. I'm not a cinephile but I was immersed in the movie. But there was something about this movie that struck a specific chord with me that I couldn't deal with. I usually like horror. I wouldn't say that I'm a big horror fan, but I go and see horror movies with good reviews and usually like them.

For this movie, I had to leave before it ended. I've never done that, at least at a theater. I read a lot of the reviews for this movie, and a lot of people mentioned how they got chills, how unsettling it was, the uncomfortable feelings they got from it. I also got all of those, but usually when I watch horror movies, there is also this undertone of excitement. This time I kind of just felt a sinking feeling the whole time. And this isn't meant to knock on the people who enjoyed it because, like I mentioned, it was a well executed movie(unless you enjoyed it for weird reasons). Like I said, I'm not looking to hate on the movie, it was probably just not for me! I'm just looking for people to relate to and discuss with. I'm having a hard time articulating how I feel about this movie. I also feel like this can be a touchy subject which is why I'm over explaining.

Why did they film in NC instead of MA?

Genuinely curious. I've only watched a little bit of the series but I love how beautiful and idyllic it looks, I didn't realize they filmed in NC and it was supposed to be set in MA/New England. It doesn't make much of a difference to me personally, but I was wondering if it was for cost reasons, weather, etc. I'm not very knowledgeable about the film industry lol.

I actually kind of like the looksmaxxing epidemic

Like the average man is pretty chopped(I say this as someone attracted to men) while the average woman generally just puts more effort into her appearance. Before you could be fat and ugly and bald, and most people wouldn't care if you had power or a lot of money. But now that is changing. And it improves the dating pool. I would never admit this IRL because it is really unpopular and I also think the looksmaxxing movement is kind of corny, but if it results in more hot guys I support it.

I have a shortlist of names, but it's hard to choose between them. Some I like for one reason, some I like for another, it's hard to let go of one and not feel like I might've made a mistake(if that makes sense).
