In its earlier days I thought The Bill was very good. This is the cast from the early to mid 1990s.

I made an order for Owen’s Dart and Swiss Water Decaf yesterday and, even though postage was delivery in 48 hrs, it was delivered today. When I asked about other people’s experiences of Owens the other day, one person suggested it was a bit expensive. Maybe, the packaging is more like that of a high-end mobile phone. Even the coffee bags feel different. I love the little pockets in the bags with an information card about the coffee. What a great idea.

I’ll let the coffee rest for a few days before trying it and then report back as to what I think of the coffee. However, the service Owens provide is great, I can’t fault the speed of turn around. I placed my order yesterday at 1:30pm. It was dispatched that afternoon and arrived at noon today.

It’s been a good year, I’ve learnt a lot and enjoyed writing with some fine fountain pens.

A gorgeous Diplomat Cobra in Black <B> and a Kaweco AL Sport in Stonewashed Blue <M> for me and a Kaweco Lunar Sport in Shadow Green <F> as a present for a friend, with some cartridges (Summer Purple and Midnight Blue).

The friend isn’t a fountain pen person (yet) but they did comment how my Kaweco Brass would be perfect to take to work only it was a bit heavy so I though they would like a Lunar in Green (Green being their favourite colour).

Now there’s words to be written and Love Hearts to be eaten.

Just received a lovely Diplomat Cobra Guilloche in Burgundy and a stunning Waterman Carene in Black Lacquer with Gold Trim. Both have buttery smooth and wet medium nibs. Also got two Clairfontaine A5 notebooks. I think they’ll be the perfect writing companions for my new pens. My only problem now is to match inks with the pen; I love these kinds of problems. While I study my inks I think I’ll munch on the Love Hearts Cult Pens includes. Lovely!

… does the thumbnail for ‘Meridian’ look like it stars Zathras? Coincidentally, the movie next to it, ‘Legion of the Dead’ stars Bruce Boxleitner. Is Amazon Prime trying to tell us something?

Changing things around with my Diplomat Viper collection, just for fun, well, it makes me smile and isn’t that what it’s all about? Can’t wait for more colours to come out, I’d love a red Viper.

It’s actually surprisingly difficult to get the Vipers to play nicely together, their magnets can be a little overly attractive!

Yesterday I received two new pens, a beautiful Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age (one of my top grail pens) and the Kaweco Brass Sport. In my excitement to start using the Visconti I almost forgot about the Kaweco.

One of the first pens I bought was a Cult Pens Kaweco Sport in a glittery blue/pink with a lovely 1.1 stub nip. However, although I liked the nib and the size of the pen (I was planning a camping trip and this was the perfect pen to take) I didn’t like writing with it. Someone suggested I try the brass version and while buying the Visconti the Kaweco was almost an impulse buy, like a chocolate bar by the supermarket checkout.

I have to say, I love the brass Kaweco, I loved the 1.1 stub but I chose the <M> (thinking I can always swap nibs). The medium nib is lovely, wet and smooth. I love the weight of the brass and still enjoy the size of the Sport design. This will be my travelling pen from now on.

Oh, and the Visconti is a dream too, so worth the wait to buy it. I’m so happy to own it… but I am now eyeing my next grail pen. Does it ever end?

Just received my new pens from Cult Pens, a sweet Kaweco Brass Sport and one of my grail pens, the Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age. It’s just as beautiful as I thought it would be, now to ink it… but what ink to use?

I am working through Al Sweigart’s book ‘Python Programming Exercises, Gently Explained’ and just completed exercise 6:
“In English, ordinal numerals have suffixes such as the "th" in "30th" or "nd" in "2nd". Write an ordinalSuffix() function with an integer parameter named number and returns a string of the number with its ordinal suffix. For example, ordinalSuffix(42) should return the string
'42nd'.”
Can I improve my solution? I feel there must be a more pythonic way of doing this, I’m not very happy with converting the integer to a string and then to a list.
