Ignorant smoker. Grandmother(old) staying with me(24f) for a bit and has stage 4 cancer. She’s been an addict of alcohol, benzos etc other pills, cigarettes, etc all her life and it was only a matter of time before a diagnosis. I know she’s going through a really difficult time and I try to be as kind as I can a there for her but it’s unhealthy for my siblings and I.
Here to vent about her disgusting second hand smoke. I live with my sister(21), who has bad asthma, and my teen brother(17). Recently my brother and I caught the flu, initially I thought we’re were feeling sick from grandmother smoking in the garage (directly below mine/sisters bedrooms) so I told her (not the first time) she needs to smoke outside. She complains it’s too cold.
I ask her to keep the window open. She barely cracks it open.
I tell her not to throw butts outside. She claims she doesn’t. I find new butts every time I do yard work (though this could be from a chainsmoker who was living on the property for a few months last winter..but like they never look weathered). I cleaned minimum 25 butts out of my 5x2 raspberry bush bed. WHICH IS CONNECTED TO A WALL OF MY HOUSE.
All smokers I’ve witnessed littering, not caring about of peoples health, or just being blatantly environmentally unaware are of the same generation. We had tons of forest fires here over the last year, to add. It’s disgusting and waking up to crusty cig smoke is just about driving me insane. Ruining drunk cigarettes for me too smh.
We also have many animals including cats, ducks, turkeys, chickens. Now most of them are outside but the cats are inside breathing this shit in like I don’t want my fucking cat to have a raw ass throat cause she can’t cope with stepping outside to smoke (where she will just litter them)
She wants cancer pity and I don’t have any to give.
Edit I smoke weed, it’s not that fucking hard to go outside. I have never lost my temper at her, we talk very kindly to each other and do not have a bad relationship at all
