I have 2 questions.

Are worm castings, greensand, and cuttlebone powered supposed to be in their tank at all times or is it just supposed to be offered at every meal?

What kind of isopods do best in this type of set up with lots of sand?

Is this size okay?

Is this size pieces okay for them or are they too big/too small? Dont worry I’ll get all the seeds out of the bell pepper pieces before I give it to them.

Found at our Air BnB

This was on the ceiling of the bathroom of our air bnb in Myrtle Beach. There’s a lot of places around the home that indicate a moisture problem like rusty door hinges, rusty shower curtain rods, rusty towel racks. In one of the bedrooms there’s even staining on the walls below the windows where water has been leaking in and running down the wall. They even have a giant dehumidifier running but yet the owner says they don’t have any known moisture issues within the home. The owner is insisting it’s not mold and is trying to get us to pay for a mold inspection that is scheduled for tomorrow if the professionals say it’s not mold. She also bought an at home 24 hour test kit and claims it came back negative. A few of our family members who are immunocompromised are very very sick are on steroids and breathing treatments after staying here for 5 days. Not asking about what kind of mold, just asking if anyone else thinks this is mold.

To move or not to move?

I acquired 2 hermit crabs last Thursday and I put them in a 10 gallon tank. I know now that the rule is 10 gallons per crab. I have a 20 gallon for them to go in. However, they have both burrowed themselves in the sand. They haven’t burrowed very deep. I’m not sure if they’re just hiding or if they’ve both decided to molt less than a week after getting them. Am I able to move them or do I need to wait till they’re done molting if that’s what they’re doing. How do I tell if they’re molting vs just hiding? I don’t want to try and move them and disturb their molting process.

How much vertical room do they need for climbing?

After giving them about 6 inches of substrate to burrow in, it left them with only about 6 inches from the top of the substrate to the top of the enclosure. Do they need more?

What does everyone use for lighting?

Do they need uvb? If so is there a kind of uvb light that’s better than others such as linear bulbs vs bended bulbs that go into normal lamps? And if they need uvb, what percentage bulb do they need?

I’m interested in getting some crabs.

I’m interested in getting some hermit crabs. I’ve been reading about their care and husbandry. I have two questions. 1. Why are heat mats preferred over small heat lamps? I am a seasoned reptile keeper and for most reptiles heat mays are a huge no no. 2. I’ve seen a lot of people on this thread saying that the pellets are bad. What should I be feeding them instead of pellets and do they need certain supplements or key things that absolutely must be included in their diet? Thanks in advance.

What do I do?

My mom backed her car up into my fence gate. My fence gate is fine but my mom’s car has a decent dent in it now. Who does she or I contact? Is it our home insurance or her car insurance?

DIY or Professional?

One of my ball pythons has just passed away. I would like to have his bikes cleaned. I’m not sure how much it would cost to have a professional to do it so I did consider doing it myself. However doing it myself may come out to equal about the same. How much does it usually cost to have it done professionally? If I do it myself, how do I know how many beetles I need to buy?

What kind of termite? Came out of a bag of mulch in Central Indiana.

Dumped out a bag of mulch into my flower bed and it was full of termites. We got up as much of the affected mulch as we could and tried to smash any straggler with our shoe. I’m sure some escaped and are still lingering in the flower bed. I went and got some termite killer spray and sprayed my entire flower bed with it. I’m now paranoid that any that ended up living are going to make it into my house.

What kind of Termite? Central Indiana

Can anyone tell what type of termite this is? We just poured a bag of mulch out into the garden and they were all in the bag. I scooped up as much of the infested mulch as I could but I’m sure some stragglers got left behind and I’m worried they’re gonna end up infesting my house.

This little guy hopped into our warehouse today. I think he got spooked out of the nest by the mowing crew. He doesn’t seem to be injured. Maybe just a little bit in shock. I tried looking for a nest but can’t find one. I did find some rabbit poop out by one of the trees. Do I put him back outside near where I found the poop and hope that mom finds him? Mom was spotted yesterday so we know she’s alive and didn’t abandon him. It’s cold and rainy today so I’ve just been keeping him warm in a box in my office till I figured out what to do.
