These are some of the illustrations I did for a colour by numbers book for Michael Mara Books about 10 years ago. There were about 20 artworks per book ( there was another one on famous buildings), I was given the subject matter and some references, I drew up a number of different shaped grids and whatever fitted best was used. Sometimes the subject didn't work with a geometric grid and I just used a mosaic, as with the pink parrot. The books were quite a large format and the main image was just the grey grid and each space numbered, with a key for the colours. The above images were thumbnails at the back of the book.

When I first started painting in oils I did quite a few still lives, this was one I started about 10 years ago, lost interest a bit ( it's quite large, about 3' x 2' which didn't help) and finished a couple of years ago, before turning to acrylics

I have been painting, with acrylics, eyes on stones as a sort of therapy. Once I have 4 or 5 I walk round my East Anglian village and leave them in different locations, here's one I placed earlier

I did a number of paintings of this area, this is another in acrylics but on plywood

I did a series of paintings a couple of years ago of woodland near my house, where I walk my dogs every day
