Vaccine side effects

Just curious why some people have more side effects to vaccines than others. Both my parents never seem to get sick at all from vaccines but I sure do. I usually get knocked down hard and for several days, especially after a COVID shot. I'm trying Novavax this year to see if it makes a difference.

Maltodextrin question

I know Maltodextrin is usually viewed negatively in the Keto world, but is it so bad if the total carbs are still low per serving (like 1 or 2 g)? I assume that products that don't have many carbs also don't contain much Maltodextrin at all, otherwise the carb count would be higher. Correct?

Order confirmation emails

Has anyone noticed the change with Amazon's confirmation emails? They no longer show a picture of the item you bought or the title of the item. Instead, they are using generic descriptions of what you ordered. I assume it's a security thing, but I don't know. Does anyone here know why they started doing that?

Cell phone

Does anyone else's loved one with Alzheimer's still use a cell phone? My mom does. I removed most everything on it except email and texts. The problem is, when I'm not with her during the day, she texts me all the time. Like hour long texting sessions...mostly asking the same questions over and over.

It's especially bad the day before a doctor's appointment. She will ask me 10 plus times when her appointment is, what's it for and if I'm going. She also keeps inviting me to come over and sit on the porch with her, go for a walk, or she'll ask me if I think the mail has run yet (we live just a few houses away from each other). I don't mind spending time with her, but I can't get anything done for myself because she's constantly texting or wanting me to come over, even if I just spent hours with her. I know it's the disease and she just doesn't remember just being with me, but it's starting to really drag me down.

I know at some point I'll probably have to take the phone away from her, but it would devastate her. It's really the only form of entertainment for her besides television, which she tires of easily. She can't even read books or magazines anymore because she can't remember what she just read, making it difficult to follow along with a story.

Seller cancelled all my orders

Two weeks ago I ordered a lot of clothing items from the same seller...three separate orders on the same day. The items were supposed to be delivered between the 6th and the 13th of this month. Today I got emails stating that all three orders were cancelled by the seller, but doesn't say why.

I had this happen once before about a month ago with a different seller. What's going on?

Buyer rescheduling pickup time multiple times.

What do you all do when you get a flaky buyer who wants to keep rescheduling a pickup time in the same day? I understand emergencies come up and rescheduling a pickup is necessary sometimes, but after the second time my patience starts to run thin. I had a lady reschedule 3 times today, all for non-emergent reasons (she had to deliver something to a friend, she had to go buy a cell phone, and now she got asked to dinner).

What ticks me off is I had places to go today that I kept putting off while waiting for this lady. I wish people would be more considerate of other people's time. I'm thinking if she doesn't come today I'm just going to block her. Is that reasonable?

Amazon cancelling orders

Anyone else getting these emails from Amazon titled: "Important Notice: Shipment for your order _____________ has not been confirmed?"

I ordered multiple items from one seller (3 separate orders), and I've received the same email for each order. Basically it says the seller has not confirmed the shipment in the expected timeframe. It also says my credit card has not been charged and I can reach out to the seller to inquire about the status of the order. The strange thing is the expected delivery date isn't until July 3-10. It seems to me like Amazon is jumping the gun. When I go through the Amazon AI bots it says I'm inquiring about it too soon. 🤦

I also had this happen a few weeks ago with a different seller and after a few days of getting the email, Amazon cancelled the order.

As if caregiving isn't enough, friends and family keep asking me to babysit.

Hi everyone. This is mostly a vent but I know many of you here will probably relate. My best friend (of many years), has a 1 year old grand baby. She just texted me tonight asking how I'm doing, then casually mentioned her DIL was wondering when I'd be up for babysitting. This isn't the first time they've asked me this. Frankly, I'm kind of appalled that they keep asking considering all I'm dealing with right now. I think they just assume I sit around at home eating bon-bons all day, but in reality I spend most of my time caring for my mom who has Alzheimer's and stage 4 lung cancer. Not to mention I just had brain surgery myself less than two months ago.

I basically told her I'm not really up for babysitting because I already have too much on my plate caring for my mom plus I just don't have the energy, especially after my surgery. She wrote back and said she understood... but I know she's upset because she abruptly quit texting after that.

A similar situation happened with my nephew and his girlfriend about a year ago. They kept dropping hints that they wanted me to babysit their kids. Again...I had to explain that I already have too much going on with my mom.

Anyone else here have friends and family that just assume you should be completely available because you no longer work a 9 to 5 job? They all know what's going on with my mom, so I'm just perplexed that they automatically assume I have nothing better to do with my day. I don't think they truly understand how much we do as caregivers.

Scabbing along incision...when will they go away?

I had Middle Fossa surgery almost two months ago. I'm doing very well overall, although I still have quite a few big crusty scabs along my incision. I'm ready for them to be gone. My husband likes to joke and say it's a good thing it isn't him because he would have picked them off long ago. I know not to do that, but some of them are starting to peel upwards and are entangled in some of my hair near my scalp. They're definitely not ready to fall off yet. How long does it normally take? I assumed they'd be gone by now.

Is this a scam or did I just get lucky?

I really need some summer clothes so yesterday I did a search on Amazon and came across a seller who was selling most of their inventory for incredibly cheap prices. I'm talking $1.99-2.99 for most items plus free shipping. So I bought a lot from them. A few hours later I went back into their store and all the prices were raised dramatically including shipping... like $15-$20 each. I also looked at the price history and most items have bounced several times from 1.99 to much higher just in the last couple of weeks. It also looks like they're a new seller without any reviews. I realize that it's very likely these items will be of poor quality or I may not even receive them, but for $1.99 it was worth the risk to me. Did I just get bamboozled?

Why does Amazon allow 3rd party seller to do this?

On occasion I buy things from 3rd party sellers and it takes 3-4 weeks to get here. Why does it take so long? From what I understand, the sellers don't actually have the items in stock, but have to order them from outside the U.S. Is that correct? If so, why does Amazon allow this? IMO, sellers should have to have the items in stock before they list it. I could be completely wrong about how this works, and if so I apologize.
