Finally took some good pictures of my finished Tyrant

The new ogors really are a blast to paint, and figured out the basing scheme I'm using: a semi arid steppe.

Finished my Ogor Tyrant

On the last image there's a picture of the red hand. I think I'll take better pictures when I know what I want to do for the basing.

So I'm starting to take a crack at parent looping but with this attempt at a late surger loop the calculators throw different results

EDIT:

I'm dumb, didn't see the different grandparents.

But how do you loop four umas and avoid repeating grandparents?

I've seen plenty of people saying it isn't large enough

It's a bombard or mortar, meaning a short barreled big bore artillery, and given the ammo she's using, it's an ogor sized sawed-off shotgun that can still fit a human in fetal position inside.

A bombard, with an effective range of 200m

The leadbelchers lug around field guns inspired by the cannons used during the napoleonic wars

A canon de 12 Gribeauval, with an effective range of 0.9-1.5km

Using mini-compare to see how the new range looks and compares

So using mini-compare, I wanted to see how the range as a whole looks with each other and how it compares with the sculpts it is replacing. I'm using only the revealed models so far.

  1. The new Gutbusters subrange
  2. The Mawseeker subrange
  3. The new Beastclaw Raiders subrange
  4. The entire new range (so far)
  5. The basic infantry of each subrange*
  6. The elite infantry of each subrange (+ Gorgers)
  7. The new generic characters
  8. Old Gluton vs New Gluton
  9. Old Irongut vs New Irongut
  10. Old Tyrant vs New Tyrant
  11. Old Hunter vs New Hunter
  12. Old Frostsabre vs New Sabrefangs
  13. Mournfang Cavalry vs Maulbeast Cavalry
  14. Old Butcher vs New Butcher
  15. Slaughtermaster vs Redd the Maw | High Slaughtermaster
  16. Finally a size comparison between the new Butcher and new Ironguts. The Ironguts basically use a full 40mm much like Space Marines barely fitting on a 32mm, while the Butcher is comfy and with breathable space, moisturized even, on a 50mm

Things I noticed:

  • Each unit type has a distinct gutplate:
    • Gluttons and the Tyrant have a core iron/steel gutplate with copper maw decorations and tassets
    • Cleavers and Butchers have a "gut apron", with a cloth apron between the copper maw decoration and the actual plate
    • Ironguts have an iron/steel layered gutplate plus mandible styled steel tassets
    • Gutseers have entrail/eldritch patterns carved into their gutplate, which seems made of brass or a reddish metal
    • Ogor Hunters have a steel gutplate with bone and leather decorations and tassets or loincloths
    • Maulbeast Cavalry/Raiders have a core steel gutplate with differing decorations, Cavalry goes for steel maw pattern decorations while Raiders have bone/fang and leather decorations
  • There's no scale/size creep, they are all roughly the same size, just better proportions all the way around.
  • Following the previous point, most ogor bodies are roughly the same size, no exaggerated orruk "Biggest lad leads". The only exception are the mawpack gorgers that would tower over regular ogors (hard cap on size, grow too large -> starve?)
  • Maulbeasts have much better proportions than mournfang, especially because the rider seats directly on the saddle instead of having a booster seat almost the entire length of their legs
  • Frostsabres and Sabrefangs are interchangeable, truly SD vs UHD moment
