Engineering made me awkward?

Has anyone else felt like his personality changed because of all the critical thinking and problem solving and hanging around similar folks?

Like something really did change, I was very extroverted in my early 20s but a decade into engineering and being hyper career focused, I’m starting to feel much more reserved and introverted, pretty much socially awkward. Weird post I know but wondering if someone else felt that way or noticed a friend go through that transition?

Idk if it is the stress or the time spent in my head thinking or always trying to spot the problem and steps to fix it or whatever this profession trains you in, but damn social skills are really lacking nowadays

How did you get into management?

I feel like this question doesn't get discussed often. How did you get promoted from an IC to become an engineering manager, director, department manager, VP, etc

How many years did you spend in each role? What do you think made you stand out? Was it projects, delivery, relationships, politics? And was that promotion offered to you, or did you express interest in that career path and were guided to a promotion?

I have made significant salary jumps by jumping ship and changing industries a couple of times. My starting salary was $74,000. It progressed up to $175,000 in 5.5 years. and have been promoted to senior a while back, but it happened in a very unusual way. However, I haven't seen anyone in the companies I worked at get promoted from an IC to a team manager; it has always been an outside hire. What recommendations do you have for anyone looking to get promoted to managing a team?

How expensive is LA’s west side compared to San Diego?

Everyone keeps telling me San Diego is more expensive than LA, I can’t see it. For context, I moved from SD to LA 4 years ago, and I was immediately shook by the price difference of everything. Looking at online data, rent for an average 1 bedroom in LA is $2100, while it’s $2400 in SD. I thought about the numbers and that does not make any sense what so ever, but then I realized I live in the West Side and the average can be skewed down because of how large LA is and all the “cheaper” apartments in East LA , downtown, South Central, etc . But in reality, if someone wants to live the same lifestyle in West LA and the coastal areas in San Diego, they might be paying double if not more for rent, restaurants, entertainment, going out, etc, in addition , sales tax in SD is 7.75% while it’s 9.5% in LA on average. And goes to something like 11% in some areas. Am I missing something here? Does anyone else have a decent base to compare? I’m reconsidering moving back to SD wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything

Any recommendations to similar games to KCD1 and KCD2?

I have played KCD1 and KCD2, after a long hiatus away from any video games, and I’ve loved every second of it, KCD2 might be the best video games I’ve ever played.
Are there any similar video games out there that you can recommend? I tried Ghost of Tsushima and Witcher 3 after hearing great things about both and it feels like mashing up a bunch of buttons consistently without thinking, and the story lines didn’t feel appealing to me. Horse riding was atrocious in both with that slanted angle.
Played AC odyssey years ago and absolutely loved that game as well. I can’t enjoy fantasy games and it feels like there’s not much out there that doesn’t include magic, super powers etc. seems like a very specific request but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
