From vape to serious sugar addiction. Help.

I quit vaping in January and developed a sugar addiction. I used to hate sweets, and now I'm snacking on it all day. I think it's activating the same reward pathways nicotine did. I wanted to quit, but I felt very anxious and irritable when I tried. Plus, the headache was terrible. I've now gained cl about 25lbs so far with no end in sight if I don't cut the sweets out. My regular diet is actually low calorie and healthy whole foods. Any input appreciated. Thanks

Sugar addiction. Anyone have that going into deficit?

I quit vaping and developed a sugar addiction. I used to hate sweets, and now I'm snacking on it all day. I think it's activating the same reward pathways nicotine did. I wanted to quit, but I felt very anxious and irritable when I tried. Plus, the headache was terrible.

Anyone successfully work a sugar reduction or quit into their calorie deficit? I need to lose about 20lbs caused by the excess sugar calories after I quit vaping. Thanks.

How to handle possibly taking away parents driving privileges?

My dad has had 4 accidents in the past 3 years, three of which were his fault. Prior to then, he had a pretty good driving history and drove for a living for a few decades. He has a few health issues that causes low blood pressure and is on several medications. We dont know if it's bad luck, bad driving, the meds or something else. We are very worried about his safety on the roads but also concerned about how taking his license will ultimately affect his dignity and mental health. He's very active within his church and friend group, including weekly meet ups and other meetings. He relies on his car for those activities, the gym, etc. He doesn't live close to their church or friends so carpooling isnt an option either.

The idea we've come up with for addressing this issue and getting some testing (without having them feel ganged up on) is blaming it on the insurance company by saying they are requiring an assessment due to the accidents. I recently bought him a new car that i pay for along with the insurance so no risk he can verify our story. We plan to have his primary care doc run some tests and possibly refer him to a driving occupational therapy center that can run some driving specific tests including cognition, etc.

I feel so sad for him because I know he will be crushed to lose his driving privileges, but obviously protecting him and those on the streets is most important. Still, I've feel a sadness in the pit of my stomach for days now...

Have you had to handle a situation like this? What did you do? And how did the person handle the situation? Thanks.

Two Job Offers

11 yr attorney trying to switch to plaintiff's personal injury. Deficit in my resume and background is litigation and/or any PI experience. I have two job offers. Which would you take to make yourself more marketable in a yr or two and ultimately move over to more sophisticated PI litigation?

  1. Large PI firm, 125k + 4% of closed cases in hybrid prelit and early lit position (file cases); they say will be considered for lit within 1 yr but I really won't get depo experience.

  2. Midsize insurance defense (transportation and catastrophic coverage), 105K 1930 billable, claim more than enough work, 2 days remote work per week, 2k bonus at 2050 hrs, performance bonus, say will get depo, court exp sooner than later.
