Compulsoery 18% "Tipping" at Ameristar KCMO

The bottom line up front on all this is that none of these places are worth spending any money. All bad to mid food with the same service, and that was from a year or two ago, when they didn't have any employment troubles.

It seems like all restaurants at Ameristar Hotel and Casino in Kansas City, Missouri have now added a compulsory 18% tip to all checks. It's only up for a few seconds on a rotating menu screen outside of most of the restaurants. Some places like KC Chop House, you would have to stand there and watch the screen for nearly a full five minutes before it comes back around.

Amerisports, which is maybe a step down from Applebee's, also adds 2% for TDD and something called CID that I can't figure out what it is. Whatever it is, they decided to create a surcharge for their overhead costs rather than increase their advertised menu prices. 🖕

A Positive Story

Beautiful day in the Kansas City metro, decided to enjoy some local beer outside at Sandhills Brewing in Mission, KS.

In case it hasn't been mentioned before, they are a no-tip business, and do so without being more expensive than the same businesses in the greater KC area. They are even cheaper and a better value than most of the microbreweries in the suburbs that beg for tips unjustifiably.

You close your tab, they thank you and say goodbye. That's it. For anyone that wants to be a clout farmer, they apply any additional money left to the Audobon Society. All clearly posted.

Is you're in the area, I highly recommend them!

Another great one gone

Just learned that my favorite late night dive, Lucky Boys, has closed is doors. I'll never forget the double cheese burgers with fried onion & extra pickle. So good I had to eat it standing up. Such an eclectic, always fun mix of people. I always felt like Dave Attel could be at home there filming an episode of Insomniac.

The signs crept in over the last couple years: more vacation closure, reduced menu, the taps were empty for over a year I think, and when I had what would be my last burger there, they had no pickle and only the last of the bottom shelf boozee in the shelf. I tried to pretend it didn't man anything, but the signs were there.

I hope the velvet paintings and cigarette machine found a good home. Definitely a loss to the West Bottoms, and KC. 😞 They will be missed.

Restarting experimental vault [question]

As soon as the new vault went live, I started setting it up like I would a regular vault, and I ran out of caps before I could get a barracks built.

Since there's no way for me to get any more caps, does anyone know how to delete this experimental and or restart it?
