I need your help with something.

Many of you know me through Minimaa, but I've actually been building apps and experimenting with projects for years. As things continue to grow, it feels like the right time for a fresh identity.

I'm planning to rebrand the company as we expand. Two amazing people have recently joined the team and are already working on a brand-new project. Minimaa will continue to be a solo-developed app for the foreseeable future, but the studio itself is growing beyond just one app.

So... I'm looking for a new company/studio name.

I'd love something memorable, timeless, and flexible enough to represent all kinds of projects—not just minimalism. We'll be building different apps, experimenting with new ideas, and maybe even creating things beyond software in the future.

- Added an option to choose whether the calendar week starts on Monday or Sunday.

- Habits can now repeat on a specific date every month. For example, set a reminder to buy groceries on the 10th of every month.

- Added a new Countdown Widget and Quote Widget for Something Home.

🛠️ Bug Fixes

- Fixed the piracy check issue that was blocking some Huawei users. (Hopefully this is fully resolved.)

- Fixed calendar events appearing twice or showing on two different days.

- Fixed custom fonts not working on some OnePlus Nord devices.

- Fixed duplicate notifications in Glance. Clearing a notification from Glance will now also clear it from the native notification panel.

- General ANR and crash fixes for improved stability.

This update combines all improvements, fixes, and additions from the recent beta releases into a single stable release focused on making Minimaa smoother, more reliable, and more capable than ever.

While there are no massive headline features, this is one of the biggest quality-of-life updates Minimaa has received, with improvements across Calendar, Tasks, Search, Widgets, Private Space, Customization, and overall performance.

Before getting into the update, I want to apologize for the delay.

I had originally planned to release this update on Sunday, but the past few days have been very difficult for me personally. As many of you know, I'm a primary school teacher, and one of my student and his brother tragically lost their lives after a wall collapsed during heavy rainfall while they were playing nearby.

- When you type a phone number in the search bar, Minimaa will display a contact-style card for that number.

- From the card, you can instantly call, message, or open WhatsApp for that number.

- Tapping an unsaved number card will show an option to add the number to your contacts.

- You can now hide unwanted apps directly from the App Drawer without needing to use Private Space.

Some users pointed out that Private Space can still be unlocked using the device PIN even after setting a separate PIN.

Yeah, that’s true — but you can disable it from the Private Space settings.

Just turn off the biometric/device unlock option, and then the Private Space will only open using the separate PIN you set for it 😁

Hey.. So I’m back from a small break from developing. Had some rest and all. Now I’m focusing more on optimizing the launcher, fixing bugs, and adding small improvements here and there. Also from June, updates might slow down a bit since school is starting again, so I’ll mostly be working on weekends. Hope you all understand.

Things updated from last night’s coding session:

• Fixed the keyboard auto-open issue that sometimes wasn’t working.

• Optimized Homescreen and App Drawer opening/closing animations.

• Fixed the alphabet scroller issue on some devices where scrolling would stop at the wrong letters when there were too many apps.

• Extended Search can now search through Spotify, Instagram, Play Store, and some other apps.

• Added a completely new icon style to give the launcher a more modern minimal vibe.

• Optimized the music widget.

• Google Calendar can now sync with the Minimaa Calendar app.

• Fixed the step counter stickman so it stops when you’re not walking.

• Fixed the Private Space opening issue when trying to open the App Drawer.

• Fixed Motion Gesture shortcut launching issues.

• Fixed font caching issues. Added fonts will now stay saved in the typography sheet, so you don’t have to select the same font file every time.

Will be working on everything throughout next week and planning to push the update by the second week of June.

Built a teacher management app and wanted to share it here

I’ve been working on an app called Teacher Buddy focused on making everyday teacher tasks easier and more organized.

Current features:

Student management

Attendance tracking

Homework / task management

Simple classroom organization tools

I also tried keeping the app clean, lightweight, and easy to use instead of overcomplicating things.

Still improving it regularly and adding more features over time. Would genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

First of all, thank you for noticing the privacy-focused features ❤️

A lot of effort went into making Minimaa feel clean while still giving users control over their space.

About cloned apps:

Go to Minimaa Settings → App Drawer → scroll down to “Secondary Profile”.

From there, you can select the cloned apps you want to appear in the app drawer and save it 👀

About widgets:

Minimaa currently doesn’t support third-party widgets, mainly because the launcher is built using Flutter.

Most Android widgets are part of Android’s native widget system. Their layouts are usually built using XML, while their logic and behavior are handled using Kotlin or Java. Properly hosting those native widgets inside a Flutter-based launcher is much more complex than in fully native launchers.

It requires bridging Android’s native widget system into Flutter while still keeping animations, gestures, scrolling, and rendering smooth.

It’s not impossible — but doing it in an optimized and stable way without hurting performance, battery life, or the minimal experience is genuinely difficult.

I’m still researching possible workarounds and hybrid approaches. If I find a solution that feels optimized enough for Minimaa, I’ll definitely explore adding widget support in the future ❤️

But for now, third-party widgets are not supported, so please don’t expect them anytime soon 😶

A lot of people think Minimaa is too simple at first glance — and honestly, that’s intentional.

I never wanted Minimaa to be a launcher with hundreds of switches, cluttered menus, or features fighting for your attention. The goal was always minimalism first.

But that doesn’t mean Minimaa lacks power-user features 👀

Most of them are designed to stay out of your way until you actually need them.

For example, the search bar and Appdrawer already supports:

• Auto opening keyboard

• Auto app launching

• Calculator inside app drawer search

• Contact search

• Web search

There’s also: • Shortcuts

• Folders

• Private Space for hidden apps

• Hide inactive apps

• App list alignment customization

• Alphabet scroller

• Home screen scroller access

• And many more smaller quality-of-life features

The idea is simple: Keep the experience clean for casual users while still giving advanced users deeper controls without breaking the minimal feel.

That said, this review also made me realize something important — maybe Minimaa hides its features too well 😁

So future updates will probably focus more on discoverability and making existing features easier to notice.
