Built a teacher management app and wanted to share it here

I’ve been working on an app called Teacher Buddy focused on making everyday teacher tasks easier and more organized.

Current features:

Student management

Attendance tracking

Homework / task management

Simple classroom organization tools

I also tried keeping the app clean, lightweight, and easy to use instead of overcomplicating things.

Still improving it regularly and adding more features over time. Would genuinely appreciate any feedback or suggestions.

3rd Party Widgets Support - Reviews & Answers #03

First of all, thank you for noticing the privacy-focused features ❤️

A lot of effort went into making Minimaa feel clean while still giving users control over their space.

About cloned apps:

Go to Minimaa Settings → App Drawer → scroll down to “Secondary Profile”.

From there, you can select the cloned apps you want to appear in the app drawer and save it 👀

About widgets:

Minimaa currently doesn’t support third-party widgets, mainly because the launcher is built using Flutter.

Most Android widgets are part of Android’s native widget system. Their layouts are usually built using XML, while their logic and behavior are handled using Kotlin or Java. Properly hosting those native widgets inside a Flutter-based launcher is much more complex than in fully native launchers.

It requires bridging Android’s native widget system into Flutter while still keeping animations, gestures, scrolling, and rendering smooth.

It’s not impossible — but doing it in an optimized and stable way without hurting performance, battery life, or the minimal experience is genuinely difficult.

I’m still researching possible workarounds and hybrid approaches. If I find a solution that feels optimized enough for Minimaa, I’ll definitely explore adding widget support in the future ❤️

But for now, third-party widgets are not supported, so please don’t expect them anytime soon 😶

Hope you guys understand ❤️

Minimaa is very mid? Really? Reviews & Answers #02

A lot of people think Minimaa is too simple at first glance — and honestly, that’s intentional.

I never wanted Minimaa to be a launcher with hundreds of switches, cluttered menus, or features fighting for your attention. The goal was always minimalism first.

But that doesn’t mean Minimaa lacks power-user features 👀

Most of them are designed to stay out of your way until you actually need them.

For example, the search bar and Appdrawer already supports:

• Auto opening keyboard

• Auto app launching

• Calculator inside app drawer search

• Contact search

• Web search

There’s also: • Shortcuts

• Folders

• Private Space for hidden apps

• Hide inactive apps

• App list alignment customization

• Alphabet scroller

• Home screen scroller access

• And many more smaller quality-of-life features

The idea is simple: Keep the experience clean for casual users while still giving advanced users deeper controls without breaking the minimal feel.

That said, this review also made me realize something important — maybe Minimaa hides its features too well 😁

So future updates will probably focus more on discoverability and making existing features easier to notice.

Let’s Push MINIMAA Together 🤍

Ngl, this community has carried MINIMAA a lot.

The feedback, bug reports, setup posts, feature ideas, detailed reviews… everything here genuinely helps improve the app.

But now I think it’s time we push it a bit more outside the subreddit too.

If you’re enjoying MINIMAA, please consider dropping a Play Store review and share the screenshot in the comments here. Doesn’t have to be a fake 5★ review or anything — just be real. Say what you like, what you don’t like, what should improve, features you want, bugs you faced… honest reviews help the most.

The more reviews we get, the better MINIMAA performs on Play Store recommendations and search, which means more people discover the app, more downloads, more feedback, and better future development for all of us.

Feels less like “my app” at this point and more like “our app” ❤️

Minimaa Font Series #1: "Scripto" – Retro Vibes 🏔️

Hi everyone!

I’m starting a new series where I’ll be regularly sharing hand-picked fonts that pair perfectly with the Minimaa Launcher aesthetic. Whether you’re into clean lines or bold statements, I want to help you find the right look for your home screen.

To kick things off, let’s talk about Scripto.

Why I chose it:

Scripto by Pentype Studio brings a thick, 70s retro energy that creates a beautiful contrast against minimalist backgrounds. It’s perfect for those who want their home screen to feel a bit more organic and "hand-drawn."

Font Details:

Font Name: Scripto

Designer: Pentype Studio

Style: Retro / Bold Script

License: Free for personal use

How to apply:

Download the .ttf file from the link.

Open Minimaa Home Settings > Typography Select the downloaded file and enjoy the new look!

I’d love to see your setups using this! Drop a screenshot in the comments or as a post if you try it out.

Stay tuned for Post #2!

1.2.6 Patch Update 🚀 MINIMAA Minimal Launcher

Yeah I was on a break 😭 but found a few issues that really needed to be addressed, and also added some things I had already worked on before.

Fixes 🛠️

- Fixed Calendars layout issue.

- Fixed websites like fedex.com getting falsely flagged by Web Detox.

The issue was caused by x.com being detected inside the URL ("fede**x.com**") and getting blocked accidentally. Now it’s fixed.

- Fixed keyboard delay and flickering issue.

App drawer opening is now more fluid, smoother, and faster.

Added ✨

- Settings Search

You can now search inside Settings to quickly find options.

- System Theme Switch

Minimaa can now follow your system theme.

- Photo Widget Locker

Before, clicking the photo widget always opened the photo selector.

Now you can lock a photo so accidental taps won’t open the selector anymore.

Other 🔧

- Overall optimization and bug fixes.

Note..:

Okay now I’m actually going for a break 😭

Need some time to rest and reset a bit.

Also I’ll be sharing a proper roadmap soon to clarify a lot of things — including icon pack support, future features, and where Minimaa is heading next 👀

Taking a Small Break From Minimaa 🤍

Its been around 4 months since I started working on Minimaa consistently. Almost every day there was something new.. updates, fixes, experiments, redesigns, breaking things and fixing them again...

But right now I’m honestly in a state of burnout.

Also schools are reopening next month, so things are gonna get much busier for me personally. Because of that, I’ve decided to take a small break from development for around 1–2 weeks.

Don’t worry.. Minimaa is not abandoned or anything..

I’ll still be around here helping users, replying to doubts, and maybe posting some guides/tips meanwhile. But there won’t be any active development or small patch updates during this time unless some major issue happens.

I just wanna genuinely thank everyone here for the support, feedback, bug reports, appreciation, trolling, and everything else..

Seriously, Minimaa wouldn’t have reached this stage without this community.

And a special thanks to some people who supported me from the very beginning ❤️

MINIMAA Promo Drop 🎁 Minimal Launcher

Hey guys,

It’s been a while since the last promo drop 😭

So here we go again — dropping 10 promo codes for Minimaa.

Same old system: First comment = first serve.

I’ll DM/reply with the codes until all 10 are gone.

Didn’t expect this much delay between updates and promos, but a lot of work and optimization has been going on behind the scenes 🛠️

Thanks to everyone still using, testing, reporting bugs, and staying around with the project ❤️

1.2.5 Patch Update 🚨

So after the last update, some users faced lag, stutters and other issues. Really sorry for the inconvenience caused. I was experimenting with new animation ideas and yeah… some users felt it became unusable in certain situations. I completely understand the frustration, and that’s why I pushed this quick patch update as fast as possible.

Changes & Fixes

✨ Animation Changes

The blur animation has now been toned down heavily.

Instead of heavy blur effects, it now uses a very subtle parallax effect which should feel much smoother, especially on mid-range and high-end devices.

Also added 3 animation modes:

- High

- Mid

- Low

And no — “Low” doesn’t mean cheap or ugly 😭

It’s actually the quickest and snappiest option.

These animations still need more optimization. I rushed this patch because a lot of users reported the launcher becoming difficult to use after the last update.

I’ll continue optimizing it more in the coming week.

(Or maybe I’ll disappear for a small vacation break because I’m honestly getting a little burned out 💀)

🛠️ Detox Fixes

- Detox app closing issues fixed

- Detox not triggering properly fixed

- Users were able to continue watching videos even after WebBlock timeout — this is now partially patched and works much better

Will improve this system more later.

🎚️ Mindful Slider Changes

The slider is now slightly softer because some users genuinely couldn’t slide it at all 😭

I’ll also post a small tutorial this week showing the correct way to use it.

🌍 Translation Updates

- Added Portuguese support 🇵🇹

- Optimized older translations

Please check it and let me know how the translations feel now.

🔔 Notifications

Notifications are working properly again.

More accurate, more minimal and basically working the way they’re supposed to.

🏠 UI Fixes

- Home screen overlapping issues fixed

- Alphabet scroller got revamped

The focus scroll behavior now feels different from before. Some users who got used to the old version may initially dislike it, but after some use it should feel much better and more natural.

📱 Small Note

Since Minimaa is still in its early stages, display scaling and sizing are not perfectly optimized yet for every device.

If possible, please use:

- Default font size

- Default display/DPI size

Alphabet scrolling especially works much better that way.

And again, sorry for the rough experience after the last update.

Still learning, still improving and trying new things every update ❤️

Thank you for supporting Minimaa.

MINIMAA 1.2.4 is Live - Minimal Launcher. A Minor Major Update

Yeah… this one took time.

And this isn’t a small update.

It’s almost a full rework of Minimaa — focused on making it more minimal, more intentional, and harder to misuse.

---

🧠 Detox System (Major Revamp)

This is the biggest change in this update.

The whole detox system is now more strict, accurate, and intentional.

Buttons are replaced with sliders → adds friction → makes you actually think before unlocking.

Mindful Pause, Website Lock, and Porn Block all got improvements.

Overall, it’s now better at doing what it’s supposed to do —

stop mindless usage.

---

🎨 UI Changes (Full Rework)

Almost the entire UI has been reworked.

Settings page is now cleaner and easier to understand — less clutter, less confusion.

Glance panel also got fixed up — no more annoying accidental swipes and weird notification behavior.

Everything should feel more simple and intentional now.

---

📂 App Drawer Improvements

A lot of fixes here.

That issue where apps weren’t missing or not showing properly — especially on Vivo, Honor, etc — is now fixed.

App list is more accurate

Option to hide letter titles

Overall smoother experience

---

🔡 Alphabet Scroller

This was a pain before.

Now it’s dynamic, so no more stretching your finger across the screen.

Also added optional home scrolling — gives that Niagara-like feel if you want it.

---

🎵 Widgets

Widgets got a proper update.

Existing widgets reworked

New music widgets added

Added extra Music Something home-style

Music widget and Screen Time widget should now feel more stable and reliable.

---

📱 Gestures (Beta)

Motion gestures are now in.

You can map actions to:

Shake

Tilt left / right

Up / down

Still experimental, but useful if you get used to it.

---

🔤 Custom Fonts

Custom font support is here.

No fonts included inside the app to keep things minimal and avoid increasing app size.

Download whatever you like and use it.

---

🌍 Language Support (Beta)

Added support for:

System Default

English

Deutsch

Español

Français

हिन्दी

日本語

中文

Still in beta.

Translations are AI-based, so expect small issues — feedback helps here.

---

✨ Animations

Home and app drawer animations got reworked.

This part took way more effort than expected 💀

But it should now feel smoother and less distracting.

---

📝 Notes App

Notes app got a new look and more functionality.

Feels more usable now instead of just being there.

---

👤 Contacts & Interaction

Double tap on contact card opens a new sheet

Option to change default apps (like WhatsApp)

Calls now happen directly (with permission)

---

⚡ Quick Actions

Added uninstall option inside app options.

No need to open app info anymore.

---

🖼️ Wallpaper

Immersive wallpaper now supports both:

Home screen

Lock screen

---

🚪 Onboarding

Redesigned + fixed bugs.

Also fixed the issue where selected apps weren’t showing on home after setup.

---

🐞 Bug Fixes & Performance

A lot of bugs were fixed. Not just visible ones — even small annoying edge cases.

Fixed clock showing blank at 00:00

Fixed ANRs

Fixed app drawer inconsistencies

Fixed missing apps on some devices

Fixed onboarding issues

Plus a lot of small UI and logic fixes

Overall, things should feel more stable and consistent now.

---

Final Note

This update isn’t about adding random features.

It’s about making Minimaa:

simpler

more intentional

and actually useful in reducing screen time

---

If something feels off, broken, or weird — just say it.

What is Minimaa? And yeah… let’s talk about the future. - Minimal Launcher.

Okay so first of all… I hope you guys are actually using Minimaa and not just installing it and forgetting it 💀 Now the real thing—everyone keeps asking:

“What’s the future? roadmap? what’s coming next?”

Here’s the honest answer: there is no fancy corporate roadmap PDF, no buzzwords, no fake promises. But one thing is guaranteed—Minimaa will get better every single month. Not those “we added 20 useless features” type updates… I’m talking about UX, feel, friction, experience—the small things that actually matter.

Now let’s get into the part where you might say “bro is dreaming too much” 👀 Minimaa already has its own apps inside it—Notes, Calculator, Calendar, Pomodoro, Body. And no, I’m not gonna sit here and say they are perfect. They’re not. So what’s the plan? Turn them into separate downloadable apps, make them work perfectly with Minimaa, and slowly build multi-platform support. Basically… yeah… a Minimaa ecosystem.

And before you say it—yes, I know. This is the kind of thing big companies with teams of 100+ people are doing. And here I am… a solo dev… saying this. Sounds stupid? Maybe. Sounds too ambitious? Definitely. Might fail? 100%.

But also… I’ve already done something people thought I wouldn’t. I was talking about Minimaa everywhere when it wasn’t even stable. Now it exists. People use it. Some of you actually depend on it. So yeah… I’ll take my chances again.

Also apps like Cull, Steva, Sleeper—all this detox / mindful stuff I’m building—everything will connect into this.

Maybe talking like this early is dumb. Maybe I should’ve stayed quiet. But I’d rather say it out loud and fail than play safe and build nothing. I’m 25. I’ve got time. Let’s see how far this goes.

If it works—you were here early. If it fails—you still saw something real. Either way… we move. 🚶‍♂️

Minimaa 1.2.4 (rolling out soon) Sorry for the Delay - MINIMAL LAUNCHER

Been working on this one for a while…

I’ll be submitting the update around May 4,

so you should start getting it within a week after that.

This isn’t a flashy update —

it’s more about fixing the stuff that was quietly broken or too easy to bypass.

---

🧠 Digital Detox (big changes here)

Mindful Pause is now a slider instead of a button

→ makes you actually pause instead of tapping through

Added progressive difficulty

→ keep bypassing = it gets harder

Added Hard Mode (optional)

→ for people who really want strict control

---

🔒 Important fix

There was a loophole.

You could open a video

Get blocked

Go to Recents

And still keep watching without triggering Detox

Yeah… not ideal 😅

👉 That’s now fixed

You can’t continue videos from Recents anymore

Web blocking (YouTube & similar) is more accurate

Notification bypass issues also fixed

👉 So now:

if it’s blocked, it’s actually blocked.

---

🧭 Onboarding

Redesigned UI (cleaner, more premium feel)

Fixed apps not showing on home after setup on some devices

---

📱 App Drawer & 🔤 Scroller

Smoother, more subtle opening animation

Alphabet scroller: → less finger movement

→ no strain

→ usable from home screen

---

📂 Folders

Edit folders directly from inside

Added app sorting

Overall smoother experience

---

🔤 Custom Fonts

Use fonts from your own device

More control over how your setup looks

---

⚙️ Settings

Cleaned up and simplified

Way less cluttered now

---

📇 Contact Card

Double tap → access multiple apps

Set a default app per contact

More flexibility than before

---

🎵 Music Widgets

5 new widgets

3 new widgets for Something Home

Better performance & stability

---

🔔 Notifications

UI improvements + bug fixes

Removing from Glance removes it everywhere

Fixed detection issues & accidental deletes

---

🗑️ Small but useful

Long press app → uninstall directly

---

📊 App Usage Widget

Improved accuracy

Still limited by Android, but better than before

---

🌍 Translations

Now supports:

English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese

---

👀 Final note

A lot of this update is basically me saying:

“okay… people are bypassing this way too easily” 😶

So yeah, I fixed that.

Try it when it rolls out and tell me what breaks 👍

u/RecognitionSad4991 — 19 days ago
▲ 28 r/minimaa

Big changes coming to Mindful Pause in 1.2.4 — this update is all about adding friction where it actually matters.

🔁 What changed?

• Buttons → Slider Before, bypassing was just a tap. Too easy. Now it’s a slider, forcing a more intentional action. You feel the decision instead of mindlessly clicking through.

• Dynamic Friction The more you bypass, the harder it gets.

Slider resistance increases with usage

After repeated bypasses, you may even need two fingers to complete it

There’s also a toggle to make it even tougher if you want maximum discipline

Even with the toggle off, friction still gradually increases.

• “Go back to reality” repositioned Previously stuck at the bottom (easy to ignore), now moved to the top, making the “stop” choice more visible and immediate.

---

🧠 UX Improvements

Cleaner, more minimal design

Less visual noise, more focus on the decision moment

The pause feels more intentional instead of just another screen

---

🛠️ Fixes (important ones)

This update also fixes some annoying issues:

Mindful Pause not triggering consistently ✅

Web Detox failing in certain browsers ✅

Bypass via in-app browsers (Telegram, Instagram links, etc.) now properly blocked ✅

---

🎯 The Idea Behind This

This isn’t about blocking you completely. It’s about making you pause just enough to ask:

> “Do I really want to open this… or am I just doing it out of habit?”

---

Would love to hear your thoughts on this:

Is this a W, or did I make it too aggressive?

Been teasing updates for 1.2.4 for a while now, and here’s one of the changes I’ve been working on.

Take a close look at this preview and try to figure out what’s different — no hints this time.

I’m curious to see what you all notice first and how it feels overall in terms of usability and design. Does this feel like a solid improvement, or did I overdo something here?

Be honest — is this a W or did I mess it up?

Let’s help push that video and make some noise.
