Honestly, I always wanted an update to that story.

I did for over a decade. Obviously he wasn’t as bad as Sheldon, but holy shit. I finally pulled the plug with him last week and it’s been the biggest weight off in a while. For extra context, I’ve been dealing with the recent sudden death of my dad, and that friend just kept triggering and making things worse.

Anyone else ever had an IRL friend like Sheldon?

Over a month ago, I took over 2 weeks off work due to my dad unexpectedly passing. I came back to work almost a month ago, and since then, I’ve had some trouble catching back up with some paperwork. Well today, I texted my boss and asked if I could take off today for my floating day. And she felt bad and told me she felt it’d be best if I did paperwork today. She immediately texted the work group chat after that she would be working from home most of the week. Well, hours later, I got an email invite for a meeting with HR the next day from 12:30-12:45 with my COO. My boss and the assistant boss aren’t attached to the meeting at all. I texted the COO and asked what was going on, and she told me to call the head of HR. So I called her, and she said it was about the program and she couldn’t talk about it until tomorrow. I was honest and said it didn’t sound like great news, and she didn’t rly have a response to that. I texted my COO admitting I was nervous, and she said she’d be on the call tomorrow too and we’d figure it out. She also said I could reschedule my clients to virtual appointments tomorrow (the email invite from HR said it was a required work from home day for me tomorrow). I should also mention some additional backstory that for a while now, the program has been struggling more at points financially and the COO was honest that lay offs COULD happen if we don’t get to full billing hours (and I have the lowest due to having the smallest caseload). How likely am I getting fired?

Something I always wondered.

I’m (M25) lucky to have a super supportive supervisor. Her and my COO even came to the funeral for a bit. However, I’m doing my best to get through things with work. It doesn’t interfere with my sessions, but damn I’m devastated otherwise. And I also have PTSD from how it happened and the experience at the hospital with everything. Most coworkers reached out. A few haven’t said anything ever since I got back to work yesterday.
