Chinese restaurant while visiting…

I live in Victoria… and yes, we have ZERO Chinese restaurants that would impress anyone in Vancouver…
I’m looking for some memorable adventures in Chinese cuisine while spending the day in Richmond.
For a reference point - I’m a middle aged white dude who enjoys South Asian cuisine, Punjabi spices with a scoville threshold of several hundred thousand. Not afraid of spice!
Thank you in advance.

A walk around downtown Nanaimo…

Today - after an incredible lunch at the Crow & Gate in Cedar…

I was expecting a bit more… how do I put it… Pandora-esque misery on the streets…
Nothing - it was pleasant… patio scene hopping… etc.

Bravo Nanaimo.
(This is just an observation - no flaming please.) 😀

BC FERRIES AP and online

Using the app and a web browser… 19 minute wait in queue… no big - I got my mug of coffee…
Got to head of line in 15 minutes…
Booked all my details… then BOOM…
“Something went wrong…”
Back to the beginning…

Vaguely amusing… any other reports?

Home made key lime pie - yes you can…

I thought I’d lighten up an obviously stressful weekend of news; fires, war, emergencies, 4 year olds that won’t buckle up - even in the co-pilots seat, parking, no parking, too many cars…

With something over the top in the dessert realm… so: key lime pie - Been dreaming about it - pretty sure no restaurant on Vancouver Island has this on their menu…

So - https://coffee.bc.ca/food/1058/key-lime-pie-anytime-is-a-good-time-for-a-classic

I did my usual Pinterest search - which yields posts drenched in ads and Amazon shills… why are all food blogs alike? Just show me the recipe. So I did one myself - less all the endless scrolling through adverts. No ads. Been doing a blog since 2007.
So: faster than you can say “Ok Boomer…” you go direct to a great recipe. Yes, borrowed or perfected by an American chef with some changes for Canadian taste buds. Enjoy.

Fire blanket scam?

An elderly coffee buddy - who is normally super sharp and diligent with phone callers has agreed to have a “gift” fire blanket delivered to his door in 10 mile point - stipulation from the delivery group that he and his wife be home tonight — at 8 pm… - I smell a rat - I’ve advised him to NOT open the door to potential scammers.
If this, in fact, a fraud… Reddit folks: advise your seniors!
Scam artists are simply the LOWEST forms of life.

Landtone Tremolo DIY

Fun kit - rewarding - moderately advanced soldering skills required - I’ve built the Landtone Klon Klone as well - spot on authenticity.

Only beef: 9V battery is a tight fit - that said, all 9V batteries are not all the same - there is likely a few cheaper 9’s that are a tad leaner.

As a builder of projects with 35+ years experience in an advanced tech shop, I’m here to help with assembly and technique issues. 🎼🎸🌞

Weird pixilated audience audio…

Why does CBC radio audience applause audio sound so wierd?

Any applause (on the debaters for example…) sounds hyper compressed, swirling/phased sounding and tinny.

For “analog” radio it’s the worst kind of audio experience.

Virtually any other radio network sounds better.

I’m imagining considering that any radio broadcast that originates at CBC comes pre processed from and through Toronto. Additionally, any CBC transmitter in Canada has no “push to talk” capability. Emergencies or loss of signal from Toronto: very little recourse. Or… earthquake in Victoria or Vancouver… no “break in” feature built in.
