Are hearing aids tax deductible in the USA
As a medical expense ?
Has anyone tried to deduct them on income tax ?

Ive been using aids for just under 9 years. I had my old aids serviced recently and figured my 8 year old Oticon OPN S1 are probably close to end of life even though still seem to work pretty well.
As a senior, I'm on Medicare and a fixed income, so the price of aids is a bit hard to swallow. I checked my advantage plan, and decided to try the hearing benefit. I found a local provider who is in network, authorized to sell all the major brands and made an appointment.
Well, this one of the best experiences I've had. The audiologist did her thing, asked all the right questions, did my audio test, explained the results. We ordered a set of Intent 2 aids at a cost of just under $2500.00 unlimited visits for 60 days, 3 free visits during the 3 year warranty.
While there i had her check my programming on my OPN S1 aids and she tweaked them to match my current results for a very modest fee. She also unlocked features that my original audiologist never fully explained or adjusted.
At no time did she make me feel like I was a burden as opposed to self pay who they obviously charge a lot more $$$
Overall I'm pretty stoked to get the Intent as it's 3 full generations removed my current aids obligatory audiogram attached
Of course the specifications sound amazing. A leap above the Intent. I'm sure the price will be also. I'm hoping the Intent line is now considered a lower tech level
What did you do with them?
I'll be upgrading soon. My old aids still work, but just curious, do they have any value?
Niche question. Has anyone used the Cypress Costco for hearing aids ? I need to start considering an upgrade and my primary concerns are twofold
1, availability of appointments.
2, competence of the employees in programming.
Any experiences and comments are welcome.
So, I made an appointment for the end of June through my United Health advantage plan with an approved provider
One of my options is of course the house brand aids made by the manufacturer of Phonak. Price for the Co pay is lower than Costco Phillips 9050 for the "platinum" level. It provides an equal warranty, fittings, etc. The specifications seem to be very good and the app is full featured.
What i can't figure out is the comparable Phonak model.
Anyone have any information or feedback on the Relate Platinum model ?
Ive been usine Oticon OPN 1S mini rite for almost 9 years.

One of the YouTube reviewers 3d prints a round head adapter with magnet for use with round head accessories.
My current advantage plan allows one hearing test per year. It also has a co pay or discount on hearing aides. But you must use an approved provider.
I currently use Oticon Opn Minirite that are 8 years old. I just replaced the rechargeable batteries for the second time. Anyway, I'm now retired and can not afford replacements at full price.
If you've used an advantage plan to purchase aides please tell me how your experience was. I've found one in network provider locally who does sell Oticon ( my preference) and if I'm reading things correctly the out of pocket is 50% of the retail. And that i can swing.
It seems all the on line info i can find only covers the flagship models. My OPN Minirite S are 8 years old so it's getting near time to consider an upgrade.
The 2 models I'm referencing in the title are within my budget for prescription aids. But I can't seem to find any comparisons or reviews on these models.
Does anyone have experience with either of these ? I'm sure that they are more advanced than my current hearing aids.
Any help or opinions are appreciated.
B&H and Amazon have sales on Viltrox lenses. A.azon requires a prime membership. B&H is offering 20% off with 2 day shipping.
Stock up guys
Battery is charging right now, but I got to play a little.
Best surprise is that my V350 batteries fit and function. Though the older batteries use an external charger instead of direct USB-C, I don't need to order a spare
Further testing and playing forthcoming.
I'll need to really work out using the X5 to trigger it along with my It30.
The current sale is what got me to buy it now. All my Godox is purchased through Adorama as the Flashpoint brand, for the ability to have warranty service without foreign shipping. Delivery was free with 2 day shipping
