I enlisted as a 35F with the Alabama Army National Guard back in November. It's not exactly the job I wanted, but it's good enough, and I can always reclass. leave for BCT on 1 June. My original plan was to graduate high school, go to college, and commission eventually. These past few months have been hell for me. I have come to the realisation that I do not have the mental capacity to handle college yet, and I am desperate to get away from home. I can't do this. I hate the guard. I really want to be active duty. I want to go out and do things. I can't really explain it, but I just have this need to go out in the world and prove to myself that I can do things. My recruiter said we could do a 368 when I get back from training and possibly switch over, but is there any other way to do this before I ship? I just really don't want to be stuck with something I hate for years.
