1943 Husqvarna M38

Picked this up from the FFL yesterday and wow! It looks closer to 10 years old than its true age. Was $490 plus shipping and transfer. I really love the iron sights on these, they're nice and tall and stand out against the background. It looks like there are some good NDT mount options, but I'd wager these sights will take you a long way on their own. The barrel is shiny with nice rifling and a tiny amount of carbon buildup. I didn't realize how narrow the bullet is on these, I'm gonna need a new cleaning rod because my current one doesn't fit.

FN 1922 in .32 - German occupation

Made at the captured FN factory in Belgium under occupation. I've read that a majority of them went to the Luftwaffe. There's no import stamp so who knows its story. It has some wear but I'll take good care of it. I haven't gotten it out to the range yet but it sure is cool.

S&W 1917(?) .45 conversion

Got this for $400. It was sold as an M1917, but now that I've gotten a good look at all the markings I'm pretty sure it was a second model .455 hand ejector. The caliber marking has been altered to read "Smith & Wesson .45(X) AR". I assume this means 45 auto rim? The shop owner said I shouldn't use 45 ACP with moon clips, but wouldn't that be essentially the same as 45 AR without the clips?

S&W 1917 $399 - Worth it despite the aftermarket grips?

Just wondering if this is a good deal? Seems like it to me but I'm not sure how easy it'd be to restore to its original configuration.

My dad killed himself

Yeah. For the record I'm 27m he was 64. He died 2 weeks ago but I only just now found out how from my mom. I guess he cited financial struggles and general unhappiness and yearning for the past. Which makes me kinda sad because I thought we'd had a lot of great times recently. I'd just lent him $1,500 and assured him he could have anything and pay it back on any timescale or even not at all. We're all kinda just devastated, he had had some rough spots but was a great dad and seemed to be on the up and up. At the same time I'm angry that he did this, leaving our family basically traumatized and now struggling even more. My mom works but also supports my younger brothers who are in college. Ultimately I don't even know how to feel. I'm kind of a wreck but I'm staying distracted with video games.

Recently picked up a Norinco SKS without realizing it had the bayonet lugs filed off (I'm still pretty new to this)

Honestly overpaid a bit given that fact ($500 plus shipping and transfer). How hard is it to find a new front sight block? I assume I'll also need to get a gunsmith to attach it. I would just sell this and get another, but once you factor in the loss plus more shipping and fees it doesn't make much sense.

My recently acquired CMP service grade (non-reclaimed, from CMP's GunBroker) has this stripe near the butt that's a lighter color than the rest. There's no residue, at least none that can be felt. And it's only really visible on this side. My best guesses are either some kind of slip-on buttpad, or maybe tape for a rack number?

Obviously duckbill mags and barrel length point to being a regular old Type 56, but where is the bayonet lug?

Count me impressed! The rack numbers are pretty cool and the 1948 slide is in good shape. The frame is new production, but everything else is surplus. The threaded barrel is ass obviously, but they're all like that.
