Work Life Balance

Hello Everyone,

I’m a new hire P4 at Raytheon (9ish years of experience) with only about 6 weeks at the company. So far I’m not very happy where things are and where things are going with my program. I left another Prime, but working a program I absolutely loved for this opportunity since it came with a multilevel Promotion and a nice salary bump.

While I don’t think anything negative about the company I’m not entirely happy with my program and the way management does things. The 9/80 schedule was one thing that did help attract me, but so far it’s all talk and bs where no one on the program really seems to participate and respect the 9/80 policy especially from the director level of the program. I’m also being thrown in the deep end, which I can handle with some direction and expectations given to me, but I’m not receiving any guidance or expectations on how the program would like me to handle these projects/responsibilities.

These things have really killed my enthusiasm about this role. All in all I’m definitely regretting the jump to this program vs my old one/company.

Do some of yall think I’m just whining or should I expect this kind of lack of guidance on the process being a P4?

I’ll be texting other iPhones and my messages switch to rcs but incoming are iMessage. And randomly iMessage won’t activate and only works after a phone restart.

Randomly started happening last week and has been extremely annoying

First Day Tomorrow

Hey all,

Tomorrow is my first day at the company. I’m curious on some advice on the best way to setup my 401k and other benefits. The Raytheon 401k plan is more complicated than my prior employers straight up match. I want to make sure I hit the ground running and don’t leave any money on the table in terms of retirement and 401k.

Also is there a way to get some Raytheon swag?

El Segundo site questions

Hey all,

So I recently accepted a position at the El Segundo site and I start early next month! I am moving over from another prime who had decent work life balance. I wanted to ask for anyone who works at that site. How is the work life balance and what’s the site policy on very occasional work from home for specific circumstances?

RTX vs Boeing how do they stack up

Hey Yall

I’m currently at Boeing and wanted to see if anyone here has made the jump to RTX recently and how their experience was. I’m curious on the real differences with benefits and culture.

I’m in LA to give an idea on location.

Looking to Invest

Hello Everyone,

My whole life (I am 32) I have always played super safe and pretty much kept cash and no investments. I feel I have watched the market and the world pass me by as I was too scared to invest at all. Recently I got married and with the 20% down I have saved over the years I purchased a home a few months ago. I put a little over 6 months of take home pay in a HYSA for a rainy day fund. I no have CC or Auto Debt or bad debts of any kind.

A few years ago I started better job and I maxed my 401k match from that company (10% match) so I have started (hopefully not too late) my retirement fund.

Since I purchased the house I live in and no debts or huge items to save for I do not feel the need to keep saving every penny and I want to start some investments. I have roughly $20k sitting in my checking doing nothing for me. Any advice on what or where to invest in that isn't straight up gambling, but has some risk for reward?

Not really trying to write a sob story or anything, but I feel dumb not dipping my toes at all into investing.

Advice to be Noticed

Hey all, I currently am work in Aerospace and have been looking to switch over to Anduril in Costa Mesa as they have a lot of opportunities! Does anyone have any advice on how to get noticed by a recruiter? I have applied to a bunch of roles that I feel best match with my skill set. Any advice would be appreciated!
