Eye-Tracking Poem for Aaron Swartz

Eye-Tracking Poem for Aaron Swartz

Hi, r/aaronswartz. I just published a poem about Aaron Swartz and thought you guys might be interested. The poem uses open-source eye-tracking tech to react to your gaze.

It's part of a civic engagement project from MIT's Open Documentary Lab called Layers of Place: Austin where 6 local poets were selected to respond to 6 AR artworks.

My AR piece was a memorial for Aaron Swartz, so I dove deep into his life and his ideals, which align with a lot of my own. The poem incorporates themes of open access, free information, and surveillance, while also memorializing his life.

You can read/experience the poem here: https://augustsmith.net/not-enough-vision/. Thank you for checking it out!

MetroPCS and the Hibreak Pro

Has anyone managed to get their Hibreak Pro to work on MetroPCS's network? I purchased a used device and have tried several methods for switching my sim card's device to my Hibreak, with no luck. Any network setting tips would be appreciated. Also considering just switching to Tmobile for this.

Just released my first cassette!

I just put out my DIY first cassette and couldn't be happier with the results. It's a recording of a poetry and short fiction reading that I organized in Baltimore with some friends earlier this year. Recorded with multiple mics, edited, designed, and dubbed by me.

There's some great writers on this thing. If you want to stream it for free or diversify your tape collection with some literary flavor, check it out.
