Digestive enzymes saved my life

I know there's others who have posted this before. But I just have to say my piece. And I wouldn't say I'm 100% cured by any means. But I do want to say digestive enzymes have seriously changed my life. I take over the counter digest Gold by enzymedica. One before every meal. If I don't take them, I definitely feel like I used to. I no longer have brain fog, depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and pain in my stomach is gone.

There are no more aches or pains in my body.

For years, I struggled with depression but knowing how I feel now, I really believe it was my gut health. I truly believe my gut was so bad it was affecting my entire system from head to toe. I don't believe that I am able to produce the enzymes necessary to digest food properly. My lipase and amylase have historically been on the low end but not officially epi. I just wanted to let people know that there may be hope for them and not to give up. Try different remedies. Try different enzymes. There is a vast array of supplements available. Talk to your doctor. Request the test necessary. I can't believe what a difference this has made in my life

For Anyone Taking Digestive Enzyme

I found these to be a lifesaver. I take Enzymedica Digest Gold, one before every meal. This literally saved my life.

For context, I do not have a gallbladder. I did have abdominal surgery, and I have significant diverticulosis, spastic, narrow, redundant colon, and IBS D alternating with D.

I take a daily probiotic and many supplements and multivitamins. I eat fairly clean. Lots of ground turkey, chicken, turkey Chomps, spinach, zucchini, some oatmeal, Truvia plant based protein, pureed fruits and vegetables, and TONS of water and one cup of tea per day.

I've eliminated all my trigger foods: dairy 😔, wheat, nuts, fried foods, salami or pepperoni 😔, and gluten-free products.

And now that I'm writing this, it almost seems silly to ask, but when or how did you start adding back in trigger foods? I'm thinking that I don't ever need to add trigger foods back in. Any of my triggers seem very unhealthy to begin with. So I basically answered my own question, but I'd still be curious to know your experience.

Life Altering

In everything I've read that discusses IBS, I do understand that it is not life-threatening. It will not cause canc*r or lead to ibd.

However, this disease or condition has wreaked such havoc on my body and my life.

I have spastic, redundant, torturous, narrow colon. I have diverticulosis as well.

At its worst, it is severely debilitating. Although I can not say for certain that my conditions are the result of my ibs. I can certainly say I believe they are complications of it.

I believe that IBS sufferers have higher cases of gastritis, hemorrhoid, vitamin deficiencies, dehydration as well as diverticulosis. My mental health suffered as a direct gut-brain connection.

I can't believe how very sick I've been, and i know there are others as well.

May we be taken seriously and self advocate with our doctors.

Love and support to you all 🩷

Self isolating

Im so withdrawn and isolated and my heart is becoming so close and hard that I have trouble feeling any emotion for anyone. I don't like this I want to stop being this way it feels terrible and I don't know what to do. Not necessarily depression I guess just a coping mechanism I need to unlearn

Any ideas?

My doctor prescribed me Creon but my Pharmacy is out of it. Also if my insurance doesn't cover it it's ridiculous expensive. I have been having some luck with over-the-counter enzymes from my local health food store. Also I take a papaya enzyme. It's definitely making a difference. So my question is do you think there's a big difference between over the counter versus prescribed crayon? Creon seems to have a lot of side effects and I'm not sure if I like the fact that it comes from pork. Let me know your thoughts please

I've had so many tests and CT scan, colonoscopy, and I am still so very, very sick.

I can't deal with it anymore.

If I eat one thing that triggers me, I'm sick for days. DAYS...

I had my gallbladder removed. I have significant diverticulosis, sigmoid stricture, and redundant colon. Intermittent constipation/explosive urgent diarrhea. It's so bad I almost vomit afterward. Then I'm sick for days.

It's been 4 days now, and I haven't pooped today, so the pendulum is going to swing in the opposite direction.

I am so sick I can hardly be at work.

I see the surgeon tomorrow, and I hope he can help me .

So, I have done elimination diets and figured out that I have some pretty intense multiple food intolerance. I can not eat any cheese or dairy, nuts of any kind or not milk, including coconut, no wheat, or fatty processed meat. I've eliminated sugar and soda. No lunch meat or hard cheeses. Eating any of these foods makes me extremely sick. For days.

That being said, I want to make sure I'm eating a healthy, complete diet. I take lots of supplements and vitamins and mostly eat ground turkey spinach potatoes, sweet potatoes, oatmeal oat milk, pureed fruits, and veggies. I also drink a dairy free protein powder daily.

My GI recommended seeing a dietician, but im not sure what they can do.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

-also can't eat eggs. Its so exhausting being hypervigilant with what I eat

I'm 53 female and just started talking to a man who turns 60. He said a few things that I was questioning. But maybe it's me.

When I told him I wanted to move to California he said, "Oh, why would you want to do that? I wouldn't want to move there they are taking over." When I said who? He said the mexicans. I said well I'm part Mexican." You're not opposed to people of different race, are you?" He then went into an elaborate explanation of how his daughter is dating a beautiful black man who is so gorgeous and he bought him all these Sports paraphernalia. And his other daughter is dating a very cool Mexican guy that he absolutely loves. Like his explanations were over the top.

Then he asked me what my red flags were and I said one of them was drinking. To which he again over the top explanation of oh you never ever have to worry about that with me I definitely don't drink I only have a few here and there it's not a problem blah blah blah There are lots of over explaining from what I can see.

This is concerning me. And the fact that he talks way too much. Was even talking while I was talking. I had to cut in to even say anything in the conversation he was talking so much.

Am I being too picky? Do I need to just relax a little bit and not be so concerned? Is it me? I almost feel like he's trying extra hard to convince me and sell me that he's a good guy

I wish I knew what I was doing in this dating world honestly it's such a challenge.

I've been very sick the past few years. 2 years ago, i had uncomplicated diverticulitis. The antibiotics shredded my stomach.

Anyways, I also have redundant spastic colon, mobile cecum, previous pre cancerous polyp, grade 1 cystocele, and grade 2 rectocele with sigmoid narrowing.

This is what my GI said:

"There is a difference between a stricture and an narrowing due to an altered anatomy, extrinsic influence from adhesions (patients with previous abdominal surgeries) or significant diverticulosis (which you did have).

A stricture usually occurs from some sort of inflammation. That is not what I saw in your colon."

He also said: "The surgeon would do either a sigmoidoscopy (which is a mini colonoscopy to directly look at the area under camera) or a barium enema (X-ray with contrast in the rectum) test to determine the degree of narrowing. They may choose to dilate in certain cases as opposed to jumping to surgery."

I'd like to know your thoughts? Has anyone else had a similar diagnosis? Have you had a stent? How long can they stay in? Can a stent be used with significant diverticulosis?

I know i have to meet with the surgeon, but it's overwhelming, and I'm freaking out a little bit
