Dana isn't Real Theory
Ok hear me out, but upon watching the show I really think Dana isn't real. I think she's a figment of the characters' imaginations or a manifestation of their collective conscience. If you think about Dana, despite being charge nurse she really doesn't do much in the physical realm. However, she is omnipresent. Whenever a character needs validation, she's there to help them process their experiences. When Robby makes questionable decisions, she's seen in the background shaking her head. To apply Freud's theory of the collective unconscious, Dana is the ED's superego, the angel on the shoulder of our characters reigning in their most chaotic and destructive impulses.
I think the show will end with the reveal that Dana was never real, and all the characters have been talking to themselves or toiling internally during her "conversations." Also possible that she is a ghost and died in a tragic accident. Thoughts?
I want Santos to grow
I’m working my way through season 2 and Santos seems to have not grown as a person at all in the last 10 months. I don’t mind that she’s still mad at Langdon. She has every right to be. It’s insane that she’s forced to work in the same hospital with the guy she busted for drugs, let alone getting assigned to work under him with patients. But she just made her feelings about the situation clear to Whitaker and “I don’t like him because he was an asshole to me” just seems so petty that it’s not interesting to watch.
What I want from Santos is for her to grapple with the fact that she’s committed her share of ER crimes as well. On her FIRST DAY she threatened that incestuous pedophile then told him directly that his wife and daughter snitched him out. She very well could’ve gotten those two killed. And frankly, for her story, I wish that she did. She needs something that’s going to give her a dose of humility. Not so she can get over Langdon, but so she can understand that she’s not the moral bastion of the world.
Happy birthday Victoria Javadi!
Today is our youngest med student's birthday! Curious what we think happened - did she work a shift today? We're Princess and Trinity able to organize a party on time? If so, who would be there and where would there be? Victoria has likely never had a birthday party organized by people who know and like her as opposed to her parents organizing one. Idk I want to know everyone's thoughts and headcanons, be they about what happens at the party or how Victoria feels about it or why she said she hated birthdays or whatever!
Only having seen screenshots of cast interviews, i get this vibe
can we talk about the Dr. Mohan discourse on Tumblr?
Okay i don't know how many of y'all are also on Tumblr, but I am, and I found some blogs that are Dr. Robby stans who just... mischaracterize Mohan entirely? And the criticisms we have of how she was treated in s2? Like sure, people hyperbolically were wishing terrible things to happen to Dr. Robby, in part because of how frustrating watching him take his terrible feelings about himself out on everyone around him, especially Dr. Mohan, but also Mohan was barely even treated like a senior resident. Idk, it feels like a lot of people who had Robby as their favorite character view him entirely a doctor in the doctor show and not as a teacher and boss, which are also two parts of his job he was thoroughly neglecting and misusing his authority thoroughout s2. My favorite the Pitt tumblrs are both Mohan-centered blogs, I had just gotten into an ex-Mormon Whitaker rabbit hole yesterday and ended up on the blog of someone who defended Robby by mischaracterizing those of us who like Dr. Mohan and had thoughts about it. So... anyone else on Tumblr? Have y'all noticed anything similar?
PITT PATIENT ARCS SPREADSHEET
Thought we might all find it interesting - the reason season 2 patients felt like they mattered less because they were around for less time. Not my spreadsheet but I thought an interesting discussion could be started based on it. 88 versus 92 is not that huge a different regarding numbers but idk it definitely felt like characters in season two mattered less to me
