Issues finding neutral / stuck in second when coming to a stop
hey all, i'm basically brand new to bikes and this is my first, so please bear with me if this isn't uncommon.
i've been having this issue where, while cruising in second and then coming to a stop, holding in the clutch and using the brake to a standstill, the bike doesn't want to shift lower than second gear after stopping. like i shove the switch down and it bounces back up. only solution i've found (that is easy) is to slowly clutch out till it starts to thread then clutching in and trying to shift to neutral again.
otherwise, if i mess up and either stall or put the kickstand out while in gear, the bike won't find neutral again for me to even try to turn it on. i've then had to clutch out fully and try to roll forward and backward till the gear resists, then clutch in and try to shift.
i get the thing with avoiding engine stop in gear, and the kickstand killing the engine makes sense, but how am i supposed to avoid having this issue when slowing down? manual car driving has taught me that first gear is for starting, not for stopping. i've tried to find neutral when coming to a stop, but like i said, brand new to this.
finally, is there a "better" method to get it back to neutral? i get it's a honda and it'll last till the sun explodes but id rather not break my own gunk.
