Doctor dismissive about potential hyperparathyroid

Hello everyone, I'm a 21-year-old male. About a week ago, I made a post asking whether my lab results could point to hyperparathyroidism.

Since then, I convinced my doctor to check my PTH levels, and they came back within the normal range. However, at my previous blood test, my calcium was elevated at 2.75 mmol/L. When I asked whether a normal PTH could still be consistent with a parathyroid issue, my doctor dismissed the possibility. She said the elevated calcium was probably just a random spike and that, because my PTH is normal, there's absolutely no need to repeat my calcium test or be concerned.

At this point, I'm not sure what to do. From what I've read, the next step would usually be to see an endocrinologist or another specialist. Unfortunately, since my doctor doesn't think further investigation is necessary, I'd have to pay for a specialist consultation myself. I'm struggling financially at the moment, so that's not an easy option.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is it reasonable to ask for a repeat calcium test or seek a second opinion, even with a normal PTH? I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences.

Is this cause of my kidney stone?

Hi everyone,

I'm a 21-year-old male. I was recently diagnosed with a 5 mm kidney stone on ultrasound, and my urologist ordered blood work to look for a possible cause.

The main abnormal results were:

  • Calcium: 2.75 mmol/L (ref. 2.14–2.53)
  • Protein in urine: + (first morning sample)
  • Calcium oxalate crystals in urine

Everything else was normal, including CBC, creatinine (83), CRP (0.3), TSH, vitamin D, and liver tests.

For the past 5 weeks I've had persistent nausea, upper abdominal cramps, constipation, occasional right-sided back pain, and mild weakness.

I don't take calcium or vitamin D supplements, and I haven't had PTH checked yet.

Could this fit something like primary hyperparathyroidism, or what else should I be asking my doctor to investigate? For example I also got ordered to do test for helicobacter pylori by my gastroentrologist but I'm not sure if this is the best explanation for this.. I'm not sure if anyone was in a similair situation like mine so any advice would be appreciated.

Just found out about my 5mm kidney stone

Hello everyone, I’m 21 guy and I recently got diagnosed and I quote “5 mm kidney stone is present in a middle of calyx of the right kidney”. I’m having some GERD problems and stomach cramps so I did an ultrasound at the clinic where they found I have a kidney stone which could explain my right side back pain I’m having for last 3 weeks. My question is should I go to my family doctor with these new ultrasound results, and what kind of medication should I ask for? From what I’ve read online it could try to go out at any moment and the pain is insufferable so I’m really scared because I got low pain tolerance. Should I just continue with my normal life activities and expect intense pain at any moment ? Any kind of advice is appreciated

Post-Mono nausea

Hello, I’m 21M and I got diagnosed with mono at the end of april. My symptoms were mostly High Liver enzymes, temperature, tiredness and swollen lymph nodes in abdomen. It lasted for about a month and then all of symptoms disappeared and my liver enzymes normalized. Last 10 days I’ve been having extreme nausea and occasional abdominal pain with the feeling of acid in my throat and sometimes chest. I tried taking pantoprazol meds once day for the last week and it slightly helps with acid but doesn’t fully stop the nausea. I’m wondering if anyone had developed similar symptoms and could it be that mono caused GERD all of a sudden, any advice is appreciated because this is unbearable and I’m losing weight because I got no appetite.

Is this a common migraine pattern

Hello everyone, for some background I’m 21M and I’ve been experiencing one sided headache on my left side since February this year.

I would describe it as random, I usually feel it in the afternoon and in rare situations I can feel it behind my left eye. I have also attached the picture of my original headache since it is hard for me to explain.

So far I’ve only done EEG and couple of blood tests which all came back fine. I don’t have any other symptoms such as trouble speaking or walking and I very rarely consume caffeine. I experience it almost daily and I’m thankful for the days where I don’t have it at all and because of it I struggle with my daily activities.

If anyone has any sort of advice or has experienced similair issue I would highly appreciate any sort of solution.
