Dosing my Pitbull with Valium.

Hi I just adopted a 2 year old pitbull about 4 months ago and have just found out he is very freaked out by fireworks and today is the 4th of July. Vet is closed but the rescue lady that I got him from has some 10mg Valium. Jordan is 75lbs and healthy.
How much Valium should I give him to keep him from freaking out?

Is this normal for Pitbulls or is it just my boy?

I adopted my pitbull 4 months ago and he is great. He is my first Pitbull.
One thing that I have noticed is when I get home from going somewhere he doesn’t do the tail wag, jump up and down, glad you are finally home excitement. He will be waiting at the door when I come in but he just looks at me. No freaking out at anything like that.
He does all the regular dog stuff, zoomies, attack the pushbroom while I’m pushing it kind of stuff but no “I thought you were never coming home and now your home!” Stuff.
Anyone else experience that kind of response from your pitbull or any other dog?
It’s just me and him so when I leave he is alone in the house.

I want one!

This has got to be one of the coolest zippo designs I’ve ever seen. It is in the horror movie They Will Kill You.
If anyone has any idea how I can get one please let me know.

14 weeks now since I adopted Jordan. He is one heck of a good boy and damn handsome too!

People stop regularly just to tell me how beautiful he is. I usually respond with, “He got the looks in the family.” Lol

Year long flea shot question

I recently adopted a pitbull, approximately 2 years old, 72-75 pounds. He was 72 put looks a little heavier now.
I live near New Orleans. Hot and humid, flea heaven. When I got him he had already been given flea drops on the neck so I waited a month, the rescuer had done everything including fixing and chipping.
Our first trip to the vet went well and it was so I could get him on a flea pill.
It’s been several years since my last boy died so the vet told me about Bravecto Quantum XL a new once a year injection. Cost $225.00 and I went for it. Jordan got the shot March 12, 2026. Today’s date is May 20, 2026 and I am finding fleas on my boy. This morning, he sleeps in the bed with me, when I woke I started scratching his side. He rolled on his back and spread his legs. Two adult, fast moving fleas who were healthy enough to get away from me as I tried to grab them. He had to have had them between his legs for hours.
He has also been biting and scratching like he has fleas. I’ve found a few fleas using a flea comb and today after a walk I had to bath him with blue dawn. He is a red nose pitbull, classic fawn/brown and I am seeing fleas on his coat.
I don’t know if I’m screwed for the next ten months while he has the Bravecto Quantum XL in him or can I give him something that works? Will something work while another cause problems?
I’m really not happy with this $255.00 waste of money either.
I figure the shot is a loss, I’m more concerned with what I can give him without hurting him.
Thank you

Cypress porch board protection.

Greetings, I recently replaced my old cypress porch boards with new ones. 1x12x8’ each. It’s far from perfect but it’s mine. I painstakingly attached the boards to the joists with brackets so there are no holes from the top. I used a stain/sealer when dry I used a mix 1gal mineral spirits, 1qt. BLO 1lb gulf wax dissolved in and just for kicks 1qt new motor oil. Applied to rejection. I’m just outside New Orleans, hot, humid, brutal sun.
That mix in my opinion did not last very long so I am asking if anyone has any old school recipes for protecting the wood? I want protection and beauty.
My guess is it is now too late to go with a water based poly but I could be wrong. It happens a lot.
Maybe turpentine and BLO with beeswax or maybe carnuba?
I am seeking advice from all you experienced (old school) woodworkers.
Also before applying whatever, I am planning on cleaning the boards with blue dawn and water unless y’all think that a bad idea.
Thank you
