Caspian: Yo, Tidepool! And hello to anyone tuning in from past the borders! Since the transit lines are still a mess and we’re all stuck indoors after 20 o'clock anyway, the boys and I figured we’d host an official online fan event right here from the studio mixing room!

Julian: (adjusting his headphones) We figured everyone could use a distraction. Think of it as a virtual town square.

Kai: Exactly. We’re opening up the floor to absolutely any questions you have for us. You can ask about our music, how we survived the cushion fort lockdown, our favorite snack rations, or even how our custom gear works.

Caspian: The weirder the better! Weirdest question gets a prize!

Eteis: Disclaimer: there is no actual prize. Maybe ask some normal questions too, just so you can get the basics of this cockamamie group. Just keep it civil. We’re monitoring the chat.

Soren: I’ve got a massive bowl of kelp crisps, the chat log is up on the big screen, and we are ready to answer whatever you throw at us!

Lox: Ask me about my frying pan! Or my cushion fort! Or goggles! I answer everything!

(Ooc: this is an ama about the boys! I didn’t really get a chance to intro them very well during the whole Saldenica thing, so I’m doing it now! shoot any questions! like Kai said, it can be normal questions to totally random ones! I can answer in/out of character, preferably in though because of the sub (: )

Caspian: Hey, Tidepool! Caspian again!

Julian: (in background) Remind me why we let him run the social media account?

Caspian: So! We’ve got some more updates from authorities, and finally, we got some good news!

Julian: Long story short, the walls held, streets are secure, yadda yadda.

Soren: Thanks to defense teams (and maybe a certain giant shark splashing around in the harbor), we’ve managed to hold off infected salmonids!

Caspian: (woo!)

Soren: Because of all this, authorities are officially removing the shelter-in-place order. Or at least… making it less strict.

Eteis: Translation: You can go outside, just not between 6 and 20 o’clock. And no back or dark alleyways, it’s just a safety thing

Caspian: (shouting from background) WE ARE FREE! NO MORE COUCH FORT!

Kai: Yes, Caspian is thrilled.

Soren: Just please, be safe out there…

Lox: I glad peoples can outside now! Yay! Just if see fish look spicy, no pet!

(In muffled background conversation)

Caspian: Now you can stop glaring at me, finally!

Julian: I wasn’t glaring because of the lockdown, I was glaring because you were using my scope as a telescope to spy on Mega for three hours.

Caspian: Hey, he was doing sick flips down by the harbor! The people deserve to know!

(end muffled dialogue)

Julian: *stepping into frame, arms crossed* Now for a tougher bit. So, the infected cases we already have are still under quarantine and unresponsive, and our medical department *ahem, kai* is completely stumped. So if anyone- from inside or outside the city borders- has some info on a cure, please contact us and/or authorities ASAP.

Caspian: Seriously, please help out, Tidepool scientists- and Kai, whos been staring at medical files so long his eyes are *vibrating*- are running out of ideas.

Eteis: Just an update, guys, It’s almost out of film

Caspian: Gah! See, I told you we should’ve just used my phone! Guys, guys, get in frame for the sign-off!

(Ooc: wow that was a lot of words um so that’s me trying to wrap up the Saldenica stuff in Tidepool as fast as I can so I can finally do other stuff with the city, I Know it’s rushed, I’m already like a week past due though /: alright bye (:

it doesn’t work most of the time in solo. it sometimes works in turf. it *never* works in series or salmon run. WHY.

Can we all agree that when you’re posting/talking about a good k/d ratio in a match, if any of the times you got splatted were by an E-liter, it doesn’t count? Because lets be real, it’s one thing being splatted by a suction bomb or a shooter you’re fighting against, it’s a whole different thing being splatted by someone ypu didnt even know was there who sniped you from across the map

So! My OC species for splatoon is Twintacle octolings. (remember twintacle octotroopers? theyre ba-ack! Anyway, Twintacles are swifter, stronger, smarter, superior in most fields. They’re usually the elites of the army. But the biggest distinction between twintacles and regular octolings: Twintacle octolings don’t use the Hypno-shades. they just foght in the military out of choice. they coukd leave whenever. they just don’t. except for one, Eteis, whom you might recognize the name of if you’ve seen my previous posts, (unlikely, I’ve got like 700 total views) but yeah, that’s it! except- one more thing. *obviously* they have bigger hair. …wait is Marina a twintacle? maybe haha it checks all the boxes! nah, cant be, that would ruin why Eteis is special, Marina probably just has extensions- oh my cod she has octo extensions (wait its expansion it worked in my head) ugh I feel like this post is becoming cringe so I’m ending it here bye!

New fact for yall about Tidepool City. The ranks for rank battle don’t stop at X. After S+, there’s SS, and then it’s X, and from there it goes X+ and finally X* (X-Star) but see, X* is special. Unlike the others, where you just need a ton of ranked points, for X*, you need to have the most ranked points of anyone who mains your weapon class, meaning there’s only 14 possible openings for X*s. For example, Caspian is the slosher X*, and Julian is the charger X*. Currently the only spots open are Splatling and Other. Here’s Neon Tide’s ranks if you want them:

So the other night I decided to use bamboozler (I was grinding Sheldon licenses, shut up) and turns out MK 1 is actually amazing for splat zones? just find a vantage point near the zone, stay in ink, and spam autobomb/killer wail. I’ve genuinely got K/D/S s of 14:1:4 and 20:0:5 (MY BEST TWO BY THE WAY, LIKE EVER) so yeah, that’s a thing

Okay! so I made a splatoon custom city! I *could* type it all out but fuck it heres the doc: welcome to tidepool city. it’s a city by the shore thsts basically Å melting pot for different species. jellyfish, inklings, octolings, swordfish, crabs, turtles, lobsters, sharks, eels, zapfish and shrimp floating around (wildlife, not citizens for those two)you name it. their idol group is neon tide, Å boyband consisting of Kai (swordfish, chill and grouding) Julian (octoling) eteis (octoling(twintacle), non binary, brooding) caspian (inkling, cheeky and a bit of a prankster) Soren (spider crab, the big brother of the group) and lox (the only salmonling known to exist in inkadia, and most of the reason salmonids akso wander the city). they also came up with 1v1, 2v2, 6v6, 8v8, 4v4v4, 2v2v2, 2v2v2v2, and 4v4v4v4 turf wars/ranked battles. to be honest though, 6v6 mostly exists so all of neon tide could be on one team. also: Julian uses a snipewriter, Kai and eteis both use new weapons from tidepool, kai using a syringe thing (name wip) and eteis using an octoscraper (which they actually designed) caspian uses a bloblaster (bloblobber/blaster hybrid), Soren uses a mini splatling, and lox uses cookware (main frying pan, sub ladle, special hë turns into a random boss salmonid). but what’s funny is lox is totally no thoughts head empty. he is exactly like eight/goggles when exploring the city and discovering inkling stuff (him and eight do it all the time, they’re close) and he frequently wanders off stage because he got distracted. usually it’s in pauses in the mysic but he occasionally does it mid lyric. and he knows the inkopolis idols personally. they talk like siblings. nobody knows how he does it. (what people don’t know is that when loz surfaced, Callie, Marie, Pearl, and Marina were the ones doing rhe salmon run, and rhey kinda just adopted him into their apartment on the spot) lox also tends to snack on power eggs. inklings think they taste gross (like really gross), theyre just snacks to lox, theyre essentially concentrated caffiene for octolings, and most of the other species think theyre really good. (Oh my cod i am so sorry about the typos, my autocorrect is counterproductive and hates me for some reason) anyway! Thoughts? Post in honor of the 4 year anniversary of Splatoon 3! I really wish I could make a drawing of the boys for this but my art skills are hot bass so oh well /: maybe for the quinquennial anyway! Thoughts? it’s an AMA post! Anyway, mind if I vent about something for just a second? WHY does it have to be kirkiversary *tomorrow*? like- yay, he’s dead, huzzah huzzah, it’s a great day, but the splatoon anniversary is being completely overshadowed by it! ugh! okay thx guys for letting me vent (also sorry about the discussion tag it wouldnt let me not put a tag for some reason)
