Advice for living across UVA

hi hey! I’m a recent graduate from SC moving to VA. I ended up signing a lease with Crestline which is located across from UVA. I just found out about the hidden fees but it’s too late now I’m legally bound.

I was looking for advice with charges, jobs and make friends too. im getting charged 110 to park my car in my apartment and I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative like if I’m not a student can I get a pass to park overnight at UVA or find someone renting a spot ? I’m also in search for a job because my rent costs more than what I get paid at the one I was going to work for. I have customer service, delivery and healthcare experience. I’m pretty much down for anything paying 20-21 an hour.

additionally I know NO ONE so if I could make some friends that would be really nice and awesome. Im 22, I like live music, I have tattoos, I have a cat named Garfield, I love coffee and tea, uhhh I can’t think of anything else right now but can provide more information about me if you message me lol. thank you guys.

My mother is a narcissist but I can’t stop desiring a mother

Im 22 (F) and im in between moving places so im staying at my moms house while my lease ends at one apartment and before my lease starts at another. The other day i had just finished working an 8 hour shift the day before, my ears were hurting, my leg was hurting and I had just woken up. The moment i go into the living room she asks me to help her move some stuff in the room where her dog’s cage is and where most of my stuff from the move is. I go help her.

Somehow this turns into her disrespecting my things like my Legos I was asking her to be careful with but she put stuff ontop of them. She already has made me feel like an inconvenience to her and it’s like in her house there can be no evidence of my existence so my stuff has to be stored and hidden. The worse thing is she starts complaining she’s old and that she’s “ready to die” and that no one loves her or cares about her. This really hurts me because I’ve tried to make her feel loved and it gets to me because I’m exhausted and can’t regulate myself well. I get frustrated with her telling her she’s depressed and suicidal. She says she didn’t say she wanted to die she said “when my time comes I’m ready to go” (clearly did not say that).

I burst out crying and remind her that my friend had ended his life so it’s hard for me to hear someone say these things all the time. She hands me a broom and says to stop crying completely dismissing my feelings. I end up getting my keys and going to get a coffee.

My mom and I have moments like these over and over. That’s a major reason I’ve decided not to move back home after graduating. I know the usual sayings are cut her out don’t talk to her, or the polar opposite where it’s like she’s still your mom she’s your only family. My thing is, all I wanted was comfort In that moment and all I wanted was a mom. I don’t know how to stop wanting a mom and I wish I knew how to. Sometimes she seems fine and I think that I can get her to change or understand me and she doesn’t. It ends up hurting me again.

I know I deal with these things because she’s my mom but I know I’m carrying a lot of these same behaviors into my relationships with women and I need help distinguishing between this is my mom and this is a partner I can get over and replace. Because I tend to stay with partners unfortunately very similar to her and I excuse their behavior because at least I’m getting some needs met and because I think it doesn’t get better than them.

I just want a mom and I just want to heal these things without letting them lead me into a relationship where I keep living this dynamic.

I’m too exhausted to do basic self care but I know I should

I have ADHD and a couple other featuring disorders and while I have a skin care routine and I know showering is important, I also work two jobs all day and I get home drained. My brain likes to tell me “let’s take a break from washing your teeth or your face as a treat” and I sometimes give in because I’m so tired then it turns into months. If someone experiences this, what helps you?

How am I going to do this

Hi hello, I’m 22 (F) and I graduated with a B.S in Exercise Science recently. I decided I really love Virginia and I did not want to stay in SC so I’m moving there in hopes of starting a life I want to live. I have ADHD, depression, anxiety and god maybe something else too and I have been stuck in my head trying to answer questions that don’t have answers but maybe someone has some advice for me.

I have potential job opportunities but I don’t know which to do. Mind you my rent is 1,500 and it’s a 4 bedroom apartment but it’s right across from the hospital and university. I already signed the lease :/

So my options for work are 19.75 for a surgical support tech job at the main OR which would give me a lot of benefits like dental, health, and vision insurance. I would just be working a lot and I would probably be miserable. I have an interview for this job next Monday. This job would start in August.

My other option is the earn while you learn program which is a program that pays you to get certified and then you get hired for a year after that for the hospital. It comes with all the benefits as the previous job except it is 16 an hour. I can’t apply for this position till July and it won’t start till October. I know I will probably need to supplement my pay with door dashing or a weekend job. But I won’t know if I get accepted into the program till August/September.

I also have my remote job which pays 17 an hour but I can’t stare at a screen all day anymore, it’s making me feel drained. I also won’t have the other benefits. The pros is that I can drive to SC and do my appointments here and use the insurance plan under my mom till I figure out a job in Virginia.

I was in a WLW relationship and I was excited to finally be done with dating and that relationship ended, so now I’m back feeling hopeless about finding someone as well. I thought I had checked that off and didn’t have to have open ended questions about when and how I’ll find someone. I wish I didn’t want someone. I’m trying to decenter romance but since I know what it is to have it, I miss it.

I’m going to do it, because I definitely am not moving back home or staying in SC but HOW. How do I deal with the now and the unknown. What have yall experienced that has helped you, what advice do you have or have gotten, what do you think ):
