What are your favorite quiet cozy spots to hang out in the evening? Looking for places like coffee shops where I can burrow down in a corner with a book for a couple of hours between maybe 7 and 9 p.m. I need a pretty mellow environment with low lighting, little nooks. I want to be around some people but I also want to feel unperceived 😂 I’m autistic with ADHD and social anxiety, so finding the right vibes can be tricky. But since I work from home, I also get a bit stir-crazy by the end of the day.
Really trying to find places in Oceanside. Carlsbad or Vista would be okay, but Oceanside is my favorite.
Thanks if you have any suggestions!
I’d like to try some earbuds to bring the ambient volume down when in public, but traditional headphones aggravate my hyperhidrosis and excess sweating will nullify any benefits from noise reduction.
I know all our ears have different shapes, and probably most earbuds are of pretty similar construction, but I just feel more comfortable asking fellow dyspraxic folks what they find most usable. Also of course looking for a brand (if possible) that holds up best to being dropped or that are easiest to charge?
Thanks for any reviews and recommendations!
ETA: Thank you, all! I think I’ve got a good mix of helpful responses now. Appreciate you!
Has anyone here found a good strategy to improve their handwriting? Mine is basically legible, so I have never worried much. But I’ve recently begun an art journaling hobby and would like to reach a place where I can find my own script appealingly consistent and neat.
For context, I really don’t want to dismiss anyone’s ability level or suggest neater writing is inherently superior. I don’t believe this needs to be a universal goal! I just see it as a precision creative challenge I might like to tackle in the same way I might want to learn to mix watercolor paint or bind my own journal. And I trust this community to understand why consistency is difficult!
Any favorite workbooks, educational videos, etc., for adults with handwriting goals? Thank you!
I relatively recently discovered that I can fall asleep quickly (within half an hour) if I don’t get IN the bed under the sheets but rather fall asleep on top of the bedspread. Also successful: sleeping in odd positions, like feet toward headboard or sideways.
I’ve also learned that if I want to fall asleep following one of my nightly wakeups, I should eat a snack—something relatively substantive like a protein bar or a couple of slices of buttered toast. At 40, I’m amazed doing so doesn’t give me indigestion 😂
Anyone else have favorite unusual sleep hacks I can try if these ones quit doing the job?
