What goes into creating a 2k point army

So I been recently getting into AOS from playing spearhead. Love the game definitely wanting to expand into army building. My question really comes down to how do you guys go about building an army? Like right now im just playing around with tts to look at what my army can look like but dont know what is the strategy behind your guys lists. Just looking for advice before I start investing in models that may or may not be good and work.

Carno or troglodon?

Just got my first spearhead. What should I choose the troglodon or the carnosaur? I like the look of both but whats better?

My very first miniature

I have built 2 model tanks and 2 model boats but nothing like this. I am so proud of my first model. There is a lot of touch ups i know I need to work on, but this free model got me to also buy my first spearhead. This took me about 4 hours so I hope I can get some good advice on how to make it better or suggestions in the future on things to change. This is my first experience and I cannot be more excited. I have already built all my saurus warriors and will paint them all next. Still nervous about starting on the kroxigor and carno wanna figure out what I wanna do with those dudes. Also please ignore his weapon i am still trying to figure out what I wanna do with that.

Question regarding a model

So I have been thinking about getting into this hobby for about 6 months but haven’t due to other things i am needing to save and work on. But at my work we are given points occasionally. I have now enough to buy the Jaws of Itzel models but saw they are not something on the regular Seraphon list on the Warhammer website but on underworlds? My question is should get it or wait a few more months to hopefully have enough like some saurus warriors. Can you bring the jaws of Itzel into a regular AOS game?
