Want to buy 2003 Miata, need advice?
Hello, I’m looking to trade in my wife’s 2017 Hyundai Elantra with 140k miles for something more fun for both of us to drive, as we already have a family car. She can’t drive stick, and it’d be her daily to get to her job 2 mins away and for myself to drive on the weekends for fun.
Looking at a 2003 Miata LS Covertible with automatic transmission. 86k miles.
According to the owner, the transmission only has 10k miles driven on it, car has new brakes, no accidents, cold ac, no alerts on dashboard. Asking $9,000 even. I plan to negotiate heavily as the car has been for sale for at least 4 months.
What things should I look for specifically? Is this a bad buy? I was going to sell my wife’s Hyundai for $2000 at carmax, and put it towards this.
I plan to take it to a mechanic for a pre buy inspection, but is this a bad buy? I just put about $700 worth of work into the Elantra, so it’s trade in now or drive it until the wheels fall off.
