First-Time Car Buyer: 2025 Kia Sportage EX CPO – Is This a Good Deal? Need Advice

Hi everyone,
I’m a first-time car buyer and would really appreciate some advice from people who have experience with Kia or buying Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles.

I’m currently deciding between these two **2025 Kia Sportage EX (both Kia Certified Pre-Owned)**:

**Option 1**
2025 Kia Sportage EX
Sapphire Blue
6,679 miles
Kia CPO
Asking Price: **$26,995**

**Option 2**
2025 Kia Sportage EX
Black
6,695 miles
Kia CPO
Asking Price: **$26,475**

Both have almost identical mileage, are CPO, and appear to be in excellent condition. One of them was previously used as a dealer loaner/courtesy vehicle, which the salesperson said is why it shows one owner on the CARFAX.

I have a few questions:

Would you consider buying a Kia CPO loaner/demo vehicle, or would you avoid it?

How has the reliability of the newer (2023–2025) Kia Sportage been? Have there been any common issues with the engine, transmission, electronics, or anything else?

If you were buying either of these, what would you consider a **fair purchase price before taxes and fees**?
Is it realistic to negotiate these down to around **$25,500–26,000**, or am I expecting too much?

Between the Sapphire Blue and Black, does one color generally hold up better or have better resale value?

Is there anything specific I should inspect or ask about before purchasing a former loaner/demo vehicle?

Since this is my first car purchase, would you recommend getting an independent pre-purchase inspection even though the vehicles are Kia Certified Pre-Owned?

I’m also open to changing direction completely if it makes more sense. Instead of the Sportage, should I consider a **Kia K4 CPO**, or would you recommend a completely different vehicle in the same budget (around **$25k–27k**)?

My priorities are:
Reliability for 8–10 years
Low maintenance costs
Good resale value
Good fuel economy
Comfortable daily driving
Mostly city and highway driving in Ohio (no off-roading)
I’m not brand-loyal, so if you think I’d be better off with something like a Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Mazda CX-50, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Elantra, or another CPO vehicle in this price range, I’d love to hear your reasoning.

Any advice, negotiation tips, ownership experiences, or things I should watch out for would really help. Thanks in advance!

Need Advice: Fair Negotiation Price for a 2025 Kia Sportage EX CPO

I’m a first-time car buyer looking for some advice.
I’m considering two 2025 Kia Sportage EX Certified Pre-Owned SUVs:

Option 1: Sapphire Blue, 6,679 miles – $26,995 (former dealer loaner)

Option 2: Black, 6,695 miles – $26,475
I have a few questions:

How reliable has the 2025 Kia Sportage been for long-term ownership?
Is buying a former dealer loaner/CPO vehicle a good idea?
What would you consider a fair negotiation price? Is $25,000 realistic, or should I aim for $25,500–26,000 before taxes and fees?
If you had a $25k–27k budget, would you buy one of these or choose something else like a Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5/CX-50, Toyota Camry, Honda Civic, or Kia K4?
I’ll mostly be driving in Ohio on highways and city roads and plan to keep the vehicle for 8–10 years.
Any advice or negotiation tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
