She’s a sipper!

I didn’t think it was possible!

Almost getting fwd numbers out of this thing. We even had the last couple days in the 40s and 50s! It’s funny tho you would think after tank after tank of getting 500 to it it would say it after fill up lol. Especially since it thinks I’m getting 3+ more than actual lol. But 560 miles would’ve been achieved on this tank! That’s superb. Especially since I didn’t do anything special. Average speed was a little higher than normal at around 48 mph. I don’t know if I’m going to beat 40.7 over a tank!

Kia Sportage Hybrid SX prestige 2026 offer evaluation

I am getting the 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige (Wolf Gray exterior and Red Carmine interior) at $44,500 with tint, Cargo Mat, wheel locks, and all weather mats. I am getting a finance deal for 60 month at 0.99% APR.
I have tried my best to negotiate but not sure if it is a good deal? Is there more scope for negotiation?
Anyone in TX can share their price points for a similar vehicle?

Should I apply for finance first?

It is important to me that I know my APR rate before I finance because I don't want to pay interest. I want that 0% APR promo but don't want to ding my credit score quite yet (taking my time shopping other brands rn). Seems like the dealership makes you apply through them.

Online they all say to get OTD before talking finance, but I just want to know my rate. I'm not worried about the payments but I'm not 100% sure I will get the 0% rate. My credit is 760+ and I calculated my DTI ratio w/ the potential new car payment to be less than 35%.

Basically, is it hard to get the 0% APR?

Do they tell you that you qualify, or are they sneaky about it?

Should I discuss OTD first in this case, and just hope for 0% APR?

I bought a 2025 xline and I am wondering if anyone has bought the control module switch for the seats and heated wheel, installed and had upgraded their sportage. In laymen’s terms is my sportage wired for these accessories and I just need buy the switch?

Love at first sight

I seen this color attached to this interior and fell in love instantly. Mods are soon to come. The Buick in the back ground was my trade in I will not miss her not even a little.

2026 sportage hybrid sx prestige cargo cover

Looking at buying a sportage sx prestige hybrid and when looking at it saw it didn’t have the retractable cargo cover. I asked the dealer about it and was told it didn’t come with it. But now looking online I saw something saying that comes standard on that model. Does anyone know if this is true?

The Critics Were Wrong: The 2026 Kia Sportage is a Significant Improvement.

Critics repeatedly derided the 2026 Kia Sportage as “just a mid-cycle refresh,” but the changes compared to the beginning of this cycle are, in fact, significant and meaningful. I recently traded my 2023 Kia Sportage SX-Prestige hybrid for the 2026 Sportage SX-Prestige hybrid. Both are the fully-loaded premium models, so this is an apples-to-apples comparison.

While critics focused on things like wireless CarPlay, auto-folding mirrors, the shape of the headlights, or the fact that the Sportage still lacks a sunglasses holder (more on those later), I was immediately struck by the improved acceleration, handling, and ride. Kia slightly retuned the 1.6L Turbo Hybrid system to eke out four more horsepower (231, up from 227). While appreciated, the more significant change is how that power is delivered.

The 2023 Sportage was notorious for a “dead spot.” If you were in a tight situation and needed to “floor it” to move quickly, the 2023 Sportage would do … nothing. It sat there while the battery and the gas engine bickered over which would move the vehicle, and once the committee took a vote, the car would start slowly and gradually build up speed. That was dangerous, frightening, and unacceptable.

For 2026, Kia updated the TMED (Transmission Mounted Electric Device) logic. The electric motor now provides a more aggressive "torque fill" the moment you touch the pedal, masking the time it takes for the turbo to spool up. The result is an immediate responsiveness that provides a sense of safety and security that the 2023 Sportage lacked.

Kia also gave the suspension re-valved dampers to make the car feel more planted on the ground. The result is a smoother, more “solid” ride where you feel completely in control. That’s particularly appreciated in my hometown of pot-hole riddled New Orleans, where settling down faster and more smoothly after hitting a bump is a noticeable improvement. Combined with the punchier throttle response, the result is a car that feels safer, more refined, more agile, and more expensive, even … German.

On the tech side, the older Gen5W system has been replaced by Kia’s new electronic architecture, ccNC. 2023’s Gen5W model was a fragmented system where the engine, safety sensors, and infotainment lived in separate "rooms.” In contrast, ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) is a centralized architecture that combines data from various areas and processes it faster.

That’s important because of the 2026 model’s added safety sensors. In particular, Kia added sensors along the sides. Processing that data with data from the front and rear sensors gives you a 360-degree “bubble,” which I consider outstanding.  When I’m maneuvering in tight New Orleans parking spots, our narrow streets, or my house’s typical New Orleans tight one-car garage that was originally built for a Model-T, my car now alerts me if I’m about to scrape a side-bollard or a high curb—something the 2023 was "blind" to.

There is a sensor problem, however, that I consider serious. If you are parked at a tight city intersection and a pedestrian crosses directly in front of your bumper, the car often won’t notice them until they are almost past you. Because the front sensors are tuned for distance to avoid front-end collisions, a pedestrian stepping off a tight curb can slip under the active tracking cone. If you’re watching traffic in one direction and a pedestrian crosses in front of you from the other, do not rely on the vehicle to warn you.

Among other new features, critics complained that the Heads Up Display was too small, but I’ve found it useful and effective. The 2023 model’s tail lights were relatively small and nondescript. Critics dismissed the 2026’s tail lights as just “a sleeker look,” but they are actually dramatically brighter and illuminate a wider edge-to-edge area of the tailgate, giving me a greater sense of security; and, at long last, the Sportage has auto-folding side mirrors.

Auto-folding side mirrors may seem a minor luxury, but long gone are the days when a chipped mirror meant a $45 replacement from a local parts store you could install yourself. Kia's 2026 side mirrors are high-density, over-engineered sensory arrays that could probably track a MiG-21. A slight bump on a narrow street could easily mean a $1,500 bill for a replacement and installation, making that auto-fold button a financial lifesaver.

Lastly, critics went gaga over wireless phone projection (Apple CarPlay or Android Auto). What they failed to mention is that wireless phone projection can suffer from lower transfer speeds, spotty connections, and is extremely taxing on your phone’s processors, thereby slowing your phone and producing massive internal heat. Wireless phone projection is so demanding the a standard flat Qi charging pad can barely keep up with the battery drain. The inductive charging pad produces significant heat of its own, and when combined with wireless phone projection, it can create a "heat sandwich" that causes your phone to thermally shut down.

I therefore still use a high-quality cable to connect my phone to the Sportage data port. It gives me a guaranteed, lightening-fast connection, keeps my phone perfectly cool, and assures me that I’ll have a fully-charged phone battery when I arrive at my destination.

That leaves an empty wireless phone charging cubby. What to use it for?

Sunglasses holder.

My 2026 KIA Sportage Hybrid SX Prestige and my 3 month experience of it.

My ownership review of the 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid (US version)

Specs: AWD, 1.6 turbo engine plus hybrid system, together producing around 230 hp. Equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Fully loaded trim: panoramic roof, heads-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay, heated + ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, power liftgate, and much more. My combined fuel economy is around 35 MPG with normal driving.

Pros:

  • It’s a comfortable and practical hybrid SUV. That was one of the main reasons I chose it. The exterior looks modern and stylish, although the front design is definitely subjective.
  • The interior is VERY well done. The dashboard and infotainment system look clean and premium. It feels properly designed instead of just slapping a giant tablet onto the dashboard like many modern brands do.
  • The ventilated seats are amazing, especially living in California where my back constantly gets sweaty in summer.
  • Good throttle response and surprisingly decent handling for a hybrid SUV. The transmission can hesitate sometimes, but it’s still a traditional automatic transmission, not a CVT.
  • The adaptive cruise control with lane centering (HDA2) is actually pretty good. It keeps distance from other vehicles smoothly and feels fairly natural overall, but it asks me to touch the steering wheel way too often.
  • Price and warranty. Compared to Japanese brands, Hyundai/Kia usually gives you better pricing and more attractive financing/lease options. And the 100k mile warranty is a huge plus.

Cons. All my previous cars were Japanese, and the difference with Korean cars is definitely noticeable. Some engineering decisions honestly make no sense to me and would’ve been better left untouched:

  • The annoying User Agreement / warning screen after starting the car. I absolutely hate this. You get into the car wanting to instantly open navigation or music, but the system forces you to wait and confirm legal warnings first. Sometimes you have to wait 20-30 seconds. It completely ruins the “get in and drive” experience.
  • The climate control system on many Kia models. I’m a fan of physical buttons, but instead, the climate controls are placed on a small separate touchscreen combined with the infotainment system. This is one of the DUMBEST decisions imaginable. It’s so inconvenient that it forces you to take your eyes off the road just to change a song or adjust the temperature. And for that, you constantly have to switch between modes. Completely ridiculous. They say they want drivers to stay focused on the road, yet they design everything in a way that does the opposite. If I could, I’d honestly replace it with separate physical buttons.
  • DRLs are permanently on and cannot be turned off. I understand the safety argument and all that, but at least let the owner decide what exterior lights they want to use. If anyone has ideas on how to disable them, I’d be glad to know.
  • The rain sensor is TERRIBLE. Sometimes I regret buying the top trim because this sensor simply cannot properly detect rain on the windshield. It behaves randomly: when it should wipe faster, it wipes slowly; when it shouldn’t, it suddenly wipes aggressively. The manual modes are basically just “fast” and “super fast.”
  • No Pause button on the steering wheel. There’s only Mute, which just silences the audio while the music keeps playing in the background. Why? Literally every manufacturer has a proper pause/play button nowadays.
  • The keyless entry system has noticeable delay. Hmm… so my old 2012 Toyota Prius reacts faster than a brand new 2026 vehicle? Hyundai/Kia clearly cut corners in some areas.
  • Some Driver Safety features work incorrectly and cannot be disabled in the settings. For example, when reversing, the cameras and sensors detect another car and start warning me to stop. If I keep going, the car suddenly slams on the brakes by itself. The problem is that these cameras often fail to understand how far away the other car actually is, which leads to false braking. And this feature CANNOT BE DISABLED in the vehicle settings. The same issue applies to side traffic situations. I believe owners should not be restricted from choosing the settings of their own vehicle. There’s a reason why some people still think older cars are better than newer ones.

For now, these are my first impressions after almost 10,000 miles of active city driving. I may add more things later as I continue using the car, but overall I can say that it’s not a bad family vehicle for an adult who values comfort, convenience, and practicality.

Kia Sportage 2026 HEV - Possible pitfalls and tips?

Hi,
I'm getting a Kia Sportage 2026 GT line (europe spec) with the HEV engine. What are some tips n tricks for that specific model (I have read the pinned post as well, altough most of them are not hybrid specific). Also how big is the problem with the 12v battery on this particular model? I don't daily drive the car and I've read different information - most claiming that the car turns off in like 3 days of not using it and I have to do the keyfob and 12v batter reset + driving for 30 minutes. Any real user experience and tips are welcomed, stuff that you daily use and makes your life easier. Thanks in advance and glad to be part of the community, I've been eyeing the Sportage for more than an year.

No ambient lighting?

Went to dealership today to look at the hybrid sportage and was told the only 2026 car models with ambient lighting are the niro, Telluride, and higher trims of the seltos. I only saw the ex hybrid today and wanted to see if maybe she was mistaken. No ambient lighting seems like an interior setback with how popular it has become.

Update: thank you! I now know the highest trim has it. I wish they'd give the option in lower trims like the X-Line as the ambient lighting is the only feature the sx has that I like that the EX doesn't. I'll be looking into aftermarket lights :)

The Sportage is so cute! 🥰

Does anyone else like this style of the Sportage more than the current model?

Too late to cancel/negotiate extended warranty price?

Friday we bought a 2026 Sportage Hybrid X Line and opted for the extended warranty without reading about the ability to negotiate warranty/add on costs (mistake I know..). We haven't given them the down payment check yet which is about half the price of the car as we're waiting for them to fix something with the AC. Has the negotiation ship sailed or do we have any recourse? I assume not since paper work is signed but wanted to check

Sportage hybrid or cx-50 hybrid

I am looking at the cx-50 hybrid (premium plus trim) and the Kia sportage (sx-prestige trim). Kia seems to have better features and value but seems not as reliable the cx-50 due to having Toyota’s rav4 engine. How unreliable is Kia?

Car wash vs hand wash for shadow gray matte finish?

Pretty much just title. Got my 2026 sportage a few weeks ago and I love the matte color.

Tips/advice/guidance on cleaning the exterior of the car? Cursory online research says to not go to a traditional car wash and to not use anything with wax.

Thanks!
