I posted the other day about nearly being in a wreck and the car did nothing - no emergency sound or brakes. My vehicle has no recalls or updates needed. I decided to test it.

I confirmed all safety and assistance settings were on properly and to test moved things in front of the sensors, front and back, to ensure the car detected them and beeped.

I got a large 3x5 sheet of Styrofoam and stood it up on top of a box. No matter how many times I tried I could not back into it because the car would take control and lock the brakes and stop the gas from working. I tested at various speeds starting slow and increasing speed on each try.

Time for the front. At slower speeds the car would move to the parking mode cams and beep but it let me hit it every time. After faster speeds there were no beeps and I hit it every time. I also tried it with all safety settings off and got the same results.

Forward collision does not work. Anyone else want to try and replicate my results?

Yesterday I was nearly in a wreck when some cars in front of me collided and came to a dead stop on the highway. I had to slam on the brakes, swerve and even skid a little with anti lock breaks not activating immediately and I came within 3 feet of hitting the car in front of me.

There was zero warning or action from my 26 SX Prestige Hybrid. All safety and sensor settings are enabled. The assisted cruise control works as it should but wasn't on during this time as I was driving manually.

Has anyone experienced this?

My wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee has a heart attack inducing alarm and avoidance technique for these instances so I'm well aware of what the car should have done.
