Gas vs Hybrid - cold climate & all hwy driving.

I am torn on purchasing a gas model vs hybrid. I don't drive a lot, and when I do, it's all highway. Also, winter here is cold and snowy. I have heard hybrids suffer in the cold.

Is it actually worth paying the extra money for the hybrid, or the phev? What are your real world experiences?

800+ Score; no income; a decent amount of money in the bank. Will I be approved?

Hi All,

As the title says, my credit score is above 800, DTI is around 2%. Outside of household bills like water and electric, I owe about $500, and that's it.

However, I am concerned about an approval as I am unemployed. I have a decent amount of money in the bank from an inheritance ($50k+).

Should I bother trying to get a new, or new to me car? Would the interest rate be even more ridiculous due to not having a job or could I actually be approved for the manufacturer rate?

If it matters, the vehicles I am looking at are currently around $30-$35k. I am thinking about trying my credit union first.

TIA!

2026 Price Drops

Since I'm hoping to buy within the next few months, I've signed up for updates from Car Guru, Cars.com, etc. The price on the '26 models in my area are coming down pretty quick. I just saw a '26 SX Prestige AWD, with 19 miles now at $34k. I also saw a few more of the lower trims, gas, for $23k and up.

Is this the bottom?

I was leaning towards the '27, but now rethinking...

Car Dealerships that will Let Me Browse and Leave me Alone?

Aside from CarMax, are there any dealerships in the area that will let me come to them with questions and otherwise let me look around without being bothered?

I haven't bought a new car since 2016, so maybe things have changed?

Toward the end of the month, I plan on making a weekend of car shopping. I have a short list of cars I am interested in and would love to test drive to narrow down my decision, however the thought of going to a dealership and dealing with being followed around and pressured is not my idea of a fun time.

I am not in a hurry, just trying to whittle my list down a little bit, to help make a decision.

New 2025 Prices are Ridiculous!

I have been researching the CX- 5 to see if it is the SUV for me - while playing around on Car Guru, I noticed over 100 new 2025's, which are priced the same, or similar to the 2026's. Just absurd for a vehicle that is now two years old!

Newer Customer Travelling from the US to B.C.

Hi!

I have been a customer for a month now and so far, so good! I will be traveling to British Columbia, Canada soon, so I would like to find out what I need to do.

I have Warp as my main line, with Ligh Speed and Dark Star as multi-line add-ons. Do I need to have a specific line active or will it switch over to their towers automatically?

I won't be in Canada long, so I'm not worried about going over my data limit or anything like that. TIA!

Hotels during Rockets Games?

Hi All,

My significant other and I looked at the new Rockets schedule and found a few games we would like to attend. We would be visiting from out of the area and would like your input on the best hotels to stay for a couple of nights.

I have previously stayed in West Kelowna, but that seems like it might be a bit of a headache to get to and from the arena. Is this assumption correct?

Thank you in advance!

As someone who is horrific in math (takes multiple tries to pass a class), I'd like some feedback on ST 351 with Petrides (or Malone Buoy) vs. ST 243 (staff or PCC) and ST 244.

Initially I was thinking of taking this class during summer term; however, I think fall term would be better. Class will be via E-Campus.

This is for HDFS; is it worth it to try for ST 351 and get that credit for an upper division course and just be done with it?
