I’ve always loved the box art livery of the savage x ss body so I decided to give it a go, here are the results of my efforts.
It’s not an exact replica but I’m pleased nonetheless, I do face a problem however… I’m afraid to wreck it even though I told myself it wouldn’t be a shelf queen 😭

NitroGang, I need your help!
Long story short I had a bunch of spare parts and tossed another savage together, for the engine this truck has an lrp .32 spec 4 (not the spec 4.1) that was broken in then put away for a few years. I’m not new to nitro and while I wouldn’t call myself a pro, I’ve always managed to get my engines to run pretty decent. With that being said, Ive never had so much trouble tuning an engine as I am right now 🤦
This engine will not run with the carb set to the manuals base settings, as it’s absolutely pig rich and floods the engine. After much tinkering I’ve gotten to the point that you see in the video, it’ll kinda hold an idle but if I don’t feather the throttle every so often it’ll cut out. If I lean out the low speed needle out in further it bogs…
This engine has so much power and absolutely rips, I really want to make it work but if I had any hair I’d be pulling it out currently lmao. I remember back when I first bought this engine I had a bit of trouble with it, and the consensus was the factory carb is a pos and that I should swap it out for an OS carb... I really don’t want to spend the money if I don’t have to, do I not have the skills to tune this thing or is the factory carb that much of a pos?
With that being said, anyone who has experience with these engine specifically is greatly appreciate some input/advice.
